Im currently bidding on some Carhartt stuff as going to be working outdoors all winter and this video was incredibly helpful. Being 5'9 and 160 pounds I can see myself going medium for most things and potentially small for anything I want particularly snug.
Great great video I’ve been looking everywhere for this. I’m in a M/L region. I usually get L and this video solidified it for me, I love the extra room
That was a really good video man. You and I are built almost exactly the same. I'm always in-between medium and large. It just really depends on the garment. I'm 5'8 1/2" 178lbs. Medium is good if I'm using it as a jacket I'm gonna be working in. But a large if I'm less active and I can layer
Great post man, thanks for this I’m about the same size as you give or take a few pounds was thinking about the Detroit Sherpa or blanket lined, definitely helped me out! Thanks again🤙🏼
FYI i got an OG Carhartt classic vest in small and it fits me right. I'm 5'7" 74 kgs. I got a Carhartt WIP vest in small and its a little too tight. Tried on a medium at the Carhartt WIP store here in London and that fits perfectly. So moral of story for vests from Carhartt WIP, go your usual size up
Thanks for the video, friend It’s really helpful I plan to shop it through Amazon because I don’t live in the States now couldn’t go to the shop and try it on It is lucky we are pretty much the same in height and weight So It gives me a good image how I fit in those Carhartt jackets 👍
I find the relaxed fit is a better fit for me vs the original / traditional fits. I have a couple of original / traditional fit Carhartt’s and find I usually have to size down 1 size. The relaxed fit to me are true to size. I have to wear tall sizes because I’m 6’ 3” about 230. Regular sizes are too short in the arms and torso.
Helps a lot. And for anyone else I’m 5’8” 152 and I have a medium hooded Sherpa lined jacket. Fits good, some extra space at the waist but that seems consistent with carharrt.
Thank you. Really appreciate it. Was thinking to get a large myself. I’m not a big built guy I’m about 5’8 and around your weight if not a bit heavier. Want a perfect size.
@ Becksy I’m the same height but 230 lbs. I find that the relaxed fit in Large tall fits me best. I can’t wear regular tall because too short in arms and torso.
@@MarcP5267 thank you I am 6'3 230lbs. I notice in some jackets the arms aren't long enough, but in Levi's is just wear XXL jackets and it gives me the length I need
@@jetshark970shark4 yea I know from experience about Levi’s. That’s why I prefer Carhartt because of tall sizes. If I wear a XXL in Levi’s yes I do get length in arms and torso but find that XXL is still too big / baggy. Try Carhartt relaxed fit in large tall.
Thank you so much on filming the Carhartt j140 jacket, I asked my mate from America to get one for me. Apparently I am 5"8 and weigh 70kilo. I ordered medium since I am afraid that Large can be a bit too big for me. I was wondering about the sleeve part, so is the sleeve loose and baggy? I dont wanna get my jacket and realize the shoulder part is a bit hard to move around.
Im 5'8 at 212 and I get XL heavy jackets to layer it up but their hoodies and vests run small so I go up a size XL to 2XL in the vest. The hoodies at XL. For me personally.
Good video. I'm glad I've ordered the Sierra jacket (hooded - slightly different to yours), in Small. I'm 5ft 6". Formerly muscular (ish), not anymore. So yeah...looking at your build and the mediums. I'm hoping small is good for me when it comes.
@@jeremiahmarcia4833 Fuck no! My arms could move forwards like when you test if a shirt is too tight or not. BUT, when I puffed my chest out with arms back, it was way too tight for me at the front. Also, layering underneath would have been no chance. A t-shirt and micro-fleece at the very most. Sent it back. Got the medium now. It's much better. Fits like an oversized or loose hoodie would do. Sleeve length is fine, hood is same as other one, so it doesn't interfere with peripheral vision. Incidentally the first one I sent back was made in India and had a very soft shell. Very disappointing. The medium I have kept is made in Mexico and the outer shell seems harder and the cotton weave on the outer shell is much tighter. I'll layer it with a thermal skin, t-shirt, fleece and body warmer if necessary in winter.
Wow I’m 5’8 140 I bought the FULL SWING RELAXED FIT WASHED DUCK INSULATED TRADITIONAL COAT. I had to get a small. I wish carhartt original made extra small.
Just came across your video, great video by the way. I am going to buy the same vest you tried on and reviews about sizing are all over the place . Quick question what size is your chest that will help me decide between a small or medium. I am 5’5 149lbs chest is a 41
Looking at picking up a Detroit jacket in size Large(tall) and I’m 5’11” 185 lbs - not sure if will fit right but I’m ordering vintage online so not sure if anyone has similar size/build as me and can give an idea of how that would fit or what a better size would be

Thanks for doing this, why carhart doesn't do this is beyond me
They don't care because they are "name brand" now. If they did they would at least get sizing consistent across the brand.
@@nashvilleoutlaw yea carhart is low quality now
Thanks man I’m 5’9 about 160 lbs I got a medium Detroit jacket. This review helped a lot
Thank yu for standin up n maken vid bout this sir 👍🏼
Great stuff! Helps a lot! Cheers!
This is an awesome post. Carhartt sizing is so sketchy when it comes to a variety of their jackets.
Super helpful and straight to the point thank you !

Thanks for the size review. I'm 5'8 and I'm hesitant to choose between Small and Medium size.
Yoo bro what size did you go with
Awesome Review !!!! Thank you!!!!👍
I'm 5'10" and 200 lbs. The Carhartt loose fit hoodies and shirts fit perfectly
Appreciate it, I’m 5’8 5’9 ish 180 I’m going with the L hoodie version.
Thank you so much for your review, I'm 5'10 same build as you, wide shoulders, small waist and large arms 190ish lbs. XL was great.
Thanks for the info!

Thank wow have to send mines back got a xl
I'm 6'2 230 Pounds XXL is a lil big on the belly but fits good on the shoulders
THANK YOU.
bro were the same height and weight haga
Detroit medium was way too small for me with a similar build as you maybe a bit broader shoulders but not too much more. 185lbs.
I just purchased a Large Detroit for work.
I fluctuate between 183-193, big back & broad shoulders as well. Did you end purchasing a size up bro?
Trying to get one" but i don't know what size.. im 270 standing at 6'2"

I find the tee shirts run very large normally I run a 2xl but my Carhatts fit is a large , guess it makes me feel a little better lol
Where is the Detroit jacket made from your one ?

Go with medium bro

I can only get the vest I want in medium tall and idk how much longer it would be, so what would you say
How tall are you sir? I’m 173 cm and my weight 78 kg,. I want to buy carhatt detroit, so I have to get the Medium, right? Please answer 🙏🏽 thanks

How did it turn out?
What would do advice size wise for a guy 5' 11" 170pounds for the Detroit jacket mostly prefer oversized
I'd get a size large, if you want a more noticeably spacious fit.
Most medium jackets can comfortably fit a person up to about 6ft tall and 200lbs.
I'm 6' 178lbs and bought a XL and the arms are so wide I would fit my legs in there and still have room. I think I need a medium or large.
Im ur size. But i just bought L size detroit jacket. 🤦
how is it?
5”8 and 150 lol but Imma trust the way it fits on u to be kinda similar I like it oversized will go with L not M
