Heavener is going to be extremely tough to beat at least for me, only because it’s so emotionally engaging. Sure currents have a chance to outdo them musically, but goddamn have invent animate made me cry 5 times alone already this year lmao. I love both bands thoufh

I feel like with this album they are embracing that HLB inspiration with their heavier side but at the same time still keeping that melodic side they’ve always had and Brian feels more comfortable with his cleans this time around.

This track is very good but the problem to me about the current state of the quality of sound does not let me like it, the vocals and the mixing feel somewhat raw in the last singles in general. Otherwise i can't explain why i can't get into these last tracks at all...

@Ultra Legendary Master Curious what you are hoping for out of the album? This one might be my favorite actually. Personally I’ve really fucked with the singles besides the death we seek kinda growing old. I’m still waiting for more riffs like Split from their last album, for example.

Interesting. I do love this song to be honest and I'm 100% sure it will rival Invent Animate, but I usually don't rly like to compare the bands between each other. If I was to rank the singles, it would be: 1) So Alone 2) Vengeance 3) The death we seek 4) Remember me.

Both Currents and Invent Animate are respectable in their own right, but it’s going to be very hard to beat Heavener. Currents writes fairly predictable metal, while Invent Animate is maybe predictable within their own sound…but they stand out in the metal scene. Love both bands and the community is blessed to have em

Invent Animate and Currents have gone two completely different directions recently. I dont really think theres a direct comparison to be made at the moment

I feel the same! Invent Animate is doing something that's so fresh and unique I've had Heavener on repeat since it's come out. My opinion I never really got into this band and I'm not sure why
Heavener is so good it makes other stuff from the genre sound mediocre. It really is an incredible release.
Yeah Currents needs to have better non singles to top Heavener for me. Invent almost took what old Currents did right and turned it into their unique sound with Heavener. While Currents is going for less atmosphere and more vocal focused.

Idk what it is about these new singles, but none of them are hitting me like The Way It Ends did. It’s missing something big that the last album had.

I personally think based on the singles their direction feels a bit like a step back not forward, the singles feel a bit more basic in terms of structure and a bit less creative imo. Sure they have big breakdowns and good choruses but I liked the way it ends for being so creative

Invent animate has a really weak clean vocal singer. It's catchy but the Mickey mouse voice makes me laugh.
If you listen close it's basically the same intro as The Death We seek. Minus the first 2 seconds. Then they put a different twist on each but same base riff for a few seconds
