I have an astigmatism but I use red dots just fine by using a 2 part technique. Keep the brightness down and don't focus on the dot. Focus on the target. Fixes 95% of the mutli-reticule issue and all of the bursting.
Target focus instead of dot is how you're supposed to use them though? Unless I'm misunderstanding and you're just saying that using them as intended cuts out most issues
I have double astigmatism in both eyes. Brightness is the most important factor. I have a green dot, and I set it to one brightness step above just barely being able to see it. People who see a lot of bloom should also consider not smoking weed. That amplifies the issue dramatically, and a lot of people seem to willfully ignore that factor.
@@Surai00 Yea I've got it too Im just messing with you. I've never thought it was like a debilitating issue, I always keep the dot super low and it's good enough to hit what your aiming at... But I have my glasses on 99% of the time so it's not a big deal
I have astigmatism in both eyes, I run aimpoint pro and to be fair the setting i have is generally low and I see the dot as more of like a star, same with green dot and no matter the other sighting options too. I can see the dot perfectly fine however I may need to get it checked cause it does effect my eyes in certian lightings mostly blue lighting, I don't notice it on phones but much more I see it when I am reading stuff off of the computer for a decent amount of time, my eyes do blur a bit too and the get very blurs when I have to read texts sizes that are a bit smaller. I can see perfectly fine srill have 20/20 vision but mine mostly is effected when it comes to red dots and green dots and some sort of blue lighting
Hey football eye shaped peeps….. Soo you have really good vision up close? Like exceptional? Able to see tiny stuff?? I do. I think it’s the zoom lens of the football eyes friends. Let me know about you. Similiar?
I've got a particularly bad astigmatism and I love just about everything about red dots even though they look terrible to me whether they're blown out or blurry and huge i just never try to use them for precise shooting for that I chose iron sights or of course normal scopes but I find it rather intriguing that a company is trying solve the problem of astigmatisms (or at least advertising that they are). I might have to pick one up and give it a try.
One thing I’ve learned that helped me is that blue reticles are much easier on my eyes, however they are very rare. Most I’ve found are crossbow optics but that’s fine for me.
Astigmatism varies. Green is worse for mine. 6moa dots are definitely better. Holosun had a limited run of gold dots which supposedly was the best for Astigmatism all around
Gold dots are a neat concept, I wonder if more companies will give it a shot. In the mean time: it'd probably be easier for most to buy a dirt cheap sight with red/green dots and adjustable brightness (like a feyachi or some other sub 50 dollar scamazon quality sight) to test what feels best, return it, then snag a better sight in the more comfortable of the 2. Or keep it for paintballing, or something.
Astigmatism and red dots all vary from person to person. Some can use them just fine with very little blooming. Others they are unusable. Aimpoints are not as crisp as Holosuns to mine. SIG dots are moderate to me. I'm lucky in that Eotechs are pretty good to my tism. Holographic are hit or miss for most. Those with astigmatism, it's just trial and error unless you stick with etched prisms and scopes.
Red dots don’t work for me unfortunately I see multiple dots and bloom turning the sight off is the only way to fix that 😂. So I’m either prism or irons.
Got the eye tism, and I see a double dot like an 8, or the single dot is made of 3-5 small dots spread out. But I'm willing to give this a try. I really want a dot I can use on my handguns
I was literally looking at one this morning at my local shop. I have astigmatism in both eyes. That was the first time I saw a red dot like it is supposed to be. Couldn't afford it but it does work well.
The best way to "see" what I see is to use those paper "effects" novelty glasses that make every light source look like a pattern. Find the glasses that create a starburst bloom effect and that is an exaggerated approximation of what my eye sees. Needless to say, as a photographer/videographer it's annoying as fuck.
Need to do a torture test on that chameleon. I know it's not a robust as the x pro's but I break shit basically as soon as I get ahold of it. Want to know whereabouts on the scale of robustness that srs8 falls
Overton windex I have a sig 365 x macro. Which Cyelee optic do you think would be best. It’s my conceal carry gun. Gotta have green and I’m not a fan of the real tiny micro optics
I bought the wolf x pro just to see what red dots on pistols are like. The dot is really nice, holds zero perfectly. After getting used to using a red dot I can say I prefer good old night sights.

I'd like that to work for me... 😢
Yep that's true as someone with a terrible iggy stiggy too.
Brooooo this is literally what I find out on my own a few days ago !!!

Double! In both!? That's like a quadruple astigmatism
@jerrodbates8480 Astigmatism is an oval shape on part of your eye instead of it being round. My eyes are footballs.

I’ll take a lil bloom over crippling back and joint pain any day.
The Burris Rd's are good for stiggies. I also find circle dots help overcome my stiggy too.
I have slight eye-tism. Multiple dots make up a bigger dot. I deal with it by focusing on the target and having it on "just bright enough" setting
I have an astigmatism and the blooming has never really bothered me I usually can dial in the brightness to where it’s very minimal

Inverse football eye, can't see shit up close, can't use dots for shit...

Looks similar to the SRO to me. I like the round shaped window red dots!.

I need to try that! My dots bloom out baaaaad.

Every Red Dot I've looked at was a red star
Hold the red star proudly high in hand
704 loves it but didn't mention this attribute.
All my red dots are blurry because I have astigmatism. I would love to try one that is clearer
Got so much tism in my eyes

How much
@Coincidence_Theorist 199.00. Not bad priced but for after Christmas spending.

Oh I have experience... just not with this
We're not talking about rashes of the groinial type....😊

Answer is simple get a high quality dot with high quality glass
I was always told I had some kind of tism I think this must be it 😂
Any advice for a poors with a 43x looking for a first red dot? Been an iron sights guy my entire life, but dots are cool.
Cyelee Cat Pro

Does it change color ?
Just get some new gloves..you ain't gotta live like that anymore. I know, I know..old habits. But, you're worth it.
It's not bad but it's not good either
