That removal tool is pretty genius. I'll admit to being a little annoyed that as soon as I put up a multiboard the mounting system changed, BUT this is a change for the better and people coming to multiboard after-the-fact will appreciate it.
Updates are the lifeblood of these projects. Thanks for all the hard work
It just becomes way too convoluted. I mean I def appreciate all the work that goes in here, but the reason why gridfinity is such a success for example, is because of its simplicity. This is starting to miss its mark.
open source patent would be a good idea at this point if you dont want a company to steal it and lock you out
I like the project a lot, but I don’t understand which parts would be patentable innovations. Could you elaborate?
The parts already have Creative Commons licenses, so that should protect outright theft of the model files.
If you’re worried about someone patenting a similar design and suing for infringement, a pile of well-documented prior art seems as good a defense as a patent.
Once something has been released to the public, there is no way you can patent it. At least that is the Law in the UK.
I was looking at patenting something and one of the main questions the Patent Office asked was "Has the product or item been displayed and/or demonstrated to the public prior to a patent application being made?."
When you said upgrade I was like "oh shit I have to throw everything I printed" but very happy to see it's only extremely useful and well thought upgrades and breaks nothing. Thank you for your incredible work
Completed my first multiboard yesterday. but these are great news with the new parts. Great work.
I admit I might have had two glasses of wine tonight, but this looks like the sort of attention to detail and usability that proves your expertise. And just watching this is making me giggle for some reason.
The amazing amount of detailed attention you're putting into this is very impressive.
Nice! Just finished playing around with the starter kit and started printing grids for my main wall. These will be a great addition :)
I love this concept. I used it to set up a small Toolwall on a wooden beam in my basement. Keep it up❤
Great design / Update
Thanks for sharing your design with all of all 🙂
I am very critic about the tolerances from the accessories and the snaps. Howevere I'm not since mounting mi first mini board and your already bringing solutions to the table, and I have to applause that. Congrats man
Amazing great work can’t wait to become a member soon and start updating my workspace
Awesome update! Thank you!!!
Thank you for the update video and your time.
Don't you love it when you work on something for months, think it's perfect, release it, and then redesign
Very nice, so far I also did a test setup of a 3x3 grid (256mm sized sections). So going forward I'll grab the new files.
That is pretty clever! Love the new legend thingy
Genious. Kudos. Printed. Subscribed. Signed. Long live Multiboard.
Please make a paid option to download everything in neatly organized folders. I subbed expecting that, but was disappointed to not find it anywhere ;) Still grateful for the free stuff, thanks!
Ganz großes Lob eine wirklich geniale Idee. Ich habe bereits die ersten Teile gedruckt und werde das auf meinem Kanal vorstellen. 👍👍
Aaargh! I just pulled the last of my quad snap parts for my first Multiboard install off of my build plate today and this drops!? Curses!
Also: Awesome! Nice improvement for reconfigurability.
definitely noticed the tolerance thing when it comes to vertical tolerance for stack printing. Glad you have a test piece cause using yours (and making one myself with the same specs) fused together, and i actually had to do a .4mm gap for it to stack and come apart without hammering a paint scraper into them lol. Though really in my case, i'm better off printing 1 board at a time than hoping a 3 day print comes out for 4 boards. Maybe if i can get my printer fast enough someday it'd be worthwhile.
Awesome new system. Too late for my 1st 16 section wall. But just in time for my second wall which will be 36 tiles. I like the new system as I can unsnap the caps and pull the tiles off. Which I had to do on my 16 section wall, but as it's the old snaps, I just removed the whole 16x16 off. I decided to put offset pegs, 5 per tile, 1 in the center, one in the center of the 4 sides, so the tiles don't flex against the wall.
Dang started printing today. But not to many parts printed yet and not mounted so kinda lucky. Good update
I like the fact that it was updated NOW and not later. Thank you for your efforts. I also was excited about this multiboard project but after printing a bunch of stuff and browsing the parts library, I don't see a way to replace my common shelf bracket system. For example, I have two Rubbermaid single track "rails" with 12" brackets that fit into whatever slots you want to put the bracket at the height that you want. Typically you could put a wood shelf between those two brackets, but I have all my RC planes and wings sitting on those two brackets. I'm looking for a way to put up a multigrid wall to have all my RC accessories but to also hold the bodies and wings of my RC planes. They are pretty lightweight. But despite all the multigrid parts that have been made so far, it doesn't look like replacing this simple shelf system I have is possible yet. Thoughts anyone? Am I missing something? Thanks!
lol, i just finished printing all the old files hahaha.. will print the new ones :)
Just started printing my first set to test things out. it's a little confusing getting started, but it's nice that so much has already been done so it's less likely to need to make something myself. And i'd rather there be a bit of a learning curve for an ultimately more useful system.
Crazy!!!!
Good updates
Nice, glad i didn't go overboard on parts.
Good thing I haven't had time to build a drybox for that 2.3 kg spool I ordered 😅
I'm printing my very first core board as we speak
Do the new snaps not have the alignment lines anymore?
Just got my first multiboard on the wall. Looks l like a really good update. Now the question is: print updated parts or new custom mounts for my power tools? ...
Its a nice system but what are the tbolta for?
I am printing my wall parts now. Where I am stumped is that after printing the tiles, I then printed some single, double and quad off set mounting brackets, but they do not line up with the spacing on the tile? I have not modified any of the settings, I looked on you tube and watched the video, but my brackets do not line up with the tiles. What am I missing? Would appreciate any help....
Where can i find the tool you used to remove the snap supports?
What type of filament should I use for this? I have PETg and PLA available.
I cant seem to find the print orientation on the 8mm offset snaps? :)
Hope i'm right by rotating them and printing them flat side down.
I really look forward to the print position labels as I have had to print things a couple of ways to see what is best. Do you have a good fusion 360 file that I can use to develop some on my own tool holders? I know you are a blender person, but your files don't convert well. I like the wall, but you need to have more sturdy holders for specific tools.
what should i do if even permanent ones is still too loose
What brand/color is the PLA you are using for the mounting clips in the video? The color is really nice
Great work, I’ve already started printing 8x8 tiles. Cant wait to put it up
Are the tiles still the same? I just finished printing a whole bunch of them. 😱
Do you have a plan for what other modifications to parts you will be making? I’d like to pause to allow these redesigns to happen instead of printing more of the older designs that are going obsolete. I assumed the main design was frozen since the parts were released
Hey, with new parts I have a bunch of 'old' '15 mm, Dual T Mounting Wall Support - DS Part A.stl' that now are not compatible with the new Dual Snap Conectors. There's a difference in the shape and they don't fit. Is there any solution to this or just to reprint parts?
good courses on precision modeling, but it’s not clear with the Precision Drawing Tools (PDT) tool, in general terms you explained what absolute and delta are, can you please explain this tool more precisely, there are a lot of points there
What sort of weight does this stuff hold, given its 3d-printed in PLA?
Anyone else can’t get square part of tool to fit into place?
Nice but they came 1 day to late. I Just printed a huge amount of the old Version Yesterday 😂
But the quad connector looking good
Wr can I get these files ?
How would you mount the Board if you want to use command strips (I really don't want to drill in those stell-concrete-walls :'D) but still give it a bit of an offset? Any Ideas?
There are 3 different command strip style mounting brackets on the website.
I think even if a printer is tightly calibrated, a cheap spool of filament can have an effect on the tolerance. So instead of shaming the printer, let's shame the filament 😁
Different filaments can definitely affect tolerance, I've had that happen. Use a filament with high dimensional accuracy and keep it dry for best results.
That said, printers can also extrude differently. Prusa likes to use a 95% extrusion multiplier. Some printers may need e-step calibration.
Am i mistaken or is the quad piece that connects all 4 tiles is not in the starter pack
*Palm Face* Thanks for pointing that out... I uploaded the version but for some reasont he version was not pushed forward! This has now been fixed sorry for the pain that this has caused
@@Keep-Making no problem! Cool thanks.
you made a tool for the tool that holds tools 😅
@keepmaking i tried to print out the starterkit, but nothing fits.im using an ender 3 pro, pla fillament, 4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer lines, 3 walls. The snaps dont fit the grid, unless i use a hammer which destroys the grid most of the times. Also inserts dont fit unless i use a disproportionate ammount of force. Its not as easy as you show in your videos. Do you have any tips? I already tried printing with 0.1mm wall inset, that seems to be a bit better.
Btw im using Cura as slicer, maybe you can recommend a better slicer?
lol
So in other words - Best to wait another 6 months until these are available without being in the "supporter packs" and the next set of bugs have been worked out and someone has redesigned it all again so it isn't a crapshot as to if things are loose or tight or fit at all.
