You're not using the QSA correctly which is why you were getting clunky gear changes. When upshifting don't roll off the throttle, keep it open and keep on it firmly for super smooth shifting. Close the throttle on downshifts and the motor will auto blip for smooth down changes. I'm amazed at how many people don't know how to use QSA , I have it on both my GS and my KTM which really helps for shifting gears when standing on the pegs off-road
The 850 you’re riding has the “comfort seat,” while the 750 you rode did not. Ups the ride height and is much more comfortable by all accounts. In addition, the 850’s wheelbase is slightly longer, which should smooth out the ride a bit.
Recently found you as I was looking for good reviews and first impressions for the f 750 gs. Like your content and subbed. Curious now if I should consider the 850.
Robert MacCready I will. I'm not ready to buy one just yet. Was thinking of waiting for the 2020 model. Let them work out the kinks for the first year run. I've gone in first year on a bike a few years ago and had nothing but problems. The following year's model was fine while mine constantly suffered.
Your gonna have one hell of a bike. I'm gonna do a review of the 1250 GS in a couple of weeks. Looks like a great bike but not what I want to spend!! I think the 850 is the way to go.

How much worse would you say the 850 on road handling is compared to the 750?

You make a good point on waiting for a year or 2 till everything shakes out.
