I honestly love that Polaris makes the transmission and the engine different components! There is one thing that you have to remember when you remove an engine from a Polaris is you need an engine alignment tool which goes over the primary and the secondary shafts to align them proper for belt engagement spacing! Being in your shoes, rebuilding these things you got this much time into it if the engine looks like that what about the transmission? That thing was Underwater at some point! It will have a Great running engine sure but now it’s got a gross transmission!! Personally, if I was waiting for parts, I would be going through the transmission!

Another awesome video Joe. Love the detective work to find failures and the rebuilding process. Have seen other car-rebuild youtubers find deals on bikes through those auctions. Seems Facebook is a mine field sometimes! Keep up the good work.

Hate to say it…….but I would start setting my expectations a little lower when buying suspect units….seems to be the theme, a full tear down and rebuild is where you end up on these. Love the content though, you are a mad man putting out two to three vids like this!!
Joe I can not BELIEVE that thing ran as WELL as it did when you had it out on the land.. I'm 48:25 in to this video and you're pulling it apart, split the case, and the seals and bearings are SO SHOT, there's no WAY that thing was going to run another SECOND. Wow.. I can't believe you didn't end up with a catastrophic failure.. seriously!! Wow.
The blowing out of the radiator is usually only with severe cases when using just cranking engine speed. Its after its running if u go to rev it and the coolant begins to overpressurize itll push out the top and when held constant the coolant will actually have like a volcanic effect and erupt quite violently as well as continue to worsen until u turn the vehicle off.
This engine has had a lot of water in it, and judging by all the rust inside the cases I'd suspect it has been in a flood and not cleaned out properly afterward. If it has been in a flood there will likely be major electrical issues in future. Just food for thought. Cheers!
That’s the closest thing to Joe cleaning a engine he cleaned it while he was spraying soap bubbles doing the leak down. Lol J/K Joe I love your videos!
Great job!!! I was wrong... I thought it was a head gasket.... So there ya go Joe... I was wrong... What a mess.... What is your thought??? You think it got swamped or flooded or something, and filled up with water??? I'm not sure what else would rust out that bottom end so frickin bad.... That thing is a mess.... Honestly, this is starting to look like one of those videos where a guy puts together a totally rusty motor and then puts it in a crazy fiberglass boat he builds..... Anyways good luck on this one. Feels like the labor will kill you.... Hopefully the parts won't be that bad...
If it’s a 2 stroke the leak will be in the bottom end crankshaft seals. The head gasket will only leak under pressure from ignition, not just. Cranking. Cheers. It also looks like that quad has been underwater in a flood.
I know for a fact i would not have the patience anymore to buy a problem child bike, let alone multiples of them like you do, and to document the repairs on top of it, you have patience in ample amounts.

I bet this bike was in the OLD TV series from the 60s? Voyage to the Bottom of the SEA!!???? Well done on ripping it apart and explaining in easy terms!! Love the VIDS!!!
Another awesome video Joe. Love the detective work to find failures and the rebuilding process. I was wondering if buying some machines at Copart, Insurance Auto Auctions etc. might be another opportunity for rebuildable deals. Have seen other car-rebuild youtubers find deals on bikes through those auctions. Seems Facebook is a mine field sometimes! Keep up the good work.
Great work ! Clever chap . Great to watch.👍
Really like the way you “mentally” work thru an issue….superb
That is a big job…over my head. …is it worth$$$ the cost?
What a mess ! Hope all goes well with the new parts and you are able to get a good price for it in the end. Watching you belt up and down on the land should be good. Cheers :)
Joe I had a Polaris sportsman 500 that was just as bad as that scrambler they are a treat to work on.
I believe the previous owner took the Polaris for swim and he knew it but Joe your opinion of a Polaris should change it’s a beast 😂😂
watching those parts get nicely cleaned before assembly will be ASMR
How about cleaning before disassembly so debris doesn't get inside!
@@pygmywarrior3 If you follow this guy long enough, you'll find out he NEVER cleans parts before disassembly.
Amazing as usual, congrats from England.
10:01 you can see bubbles at the leak down tester threads
Hate to say it…….but I would start setting my expectations a little lower when buying suspect units….seems to be the theme, a full tear down and rebuild is where you end up on these. Love the content though, you are a mad man putting out two to three vids like this!!
Meant to say 2 to 3 vids a week!!
Joe I can not BELIEVE that thing ran as WELL as it did when you had it out on the land.. I'm 48:25 in to this video and you're pulling it apart, split the case, and the seals and bearings are SO SHOT, there's no WAY that thing was going to run another SECOND. Wow.. I can't believe you didn't end up with a catastrophic failure.. seriously!! Wow.
Really like the editing on the first part of the video.
Nice one Joe. She'll be like new once you've finished with it.
It's always a good idea to clean the engine before.
With Joe it's Hit and Miss .... I agree, he gets in a hurry and skips the pressure washer sometimes...
Well I guess you found the problem huh. Wow
Can't wait to see the next video on it.
I think you need a shop.
This engine has had a lot of water in it, and judging by all the rust inside the cases I'd suspect it has been in a flood and not cleaned out properly afterward. If it has been in a flood there will likely be major electrical issues in future. Just food for thought. Cheers!
Loads of cleaning to do on this one, hard to believe it didn't make a racket running with multiple bad bearings.👍
Wow, I would’ve never guessed that it would look like that. You’re going to spend a bit just on bearings!
Thanks Joe awesome video as always!! P.S. we always be learning something with you. Lol
Looks like that thing sat in floodwaters for a couple months. Great video!
hi Joe, i think it went into a pond/river ? loving the videos regards from the UK.
Wonder if it was in a flood. It will come around. Good job again.
Your the best on RUclips hands down
That's a rough one for sure. Enjoying the video. Thanks
If it’s a 2 stroke the leak will be in the bottom end crankshaft seals. The head gasket will only leak under pressure from ignition, not just. Cranking. Cheers. It also looks like that quad has been underwater in a flood.
Enjoy your video very informative and happy your addressing the bikes and finishing the jobs .
I know for a fact i would not have the patience anymore to buy a problem child bike, let alone multiples of them like you do, and to document the repairs on top of it, you have patience in ample amounts.
