HOW MUCH I PAID FOR MY 2021 TESLA MODEL 3 (Full Cost Breakdown)

- This video breaks down how much I paid for my 2021 Tesla Model 3. I've had my Tesla Model 3 2021 for two and a half months and this video goes through the full cost breakdown of what I paid. This video answers one of the top questions I get which is how much does a Tesla Model 3 cost? The Tesla model 3 cost depends on which model and features you choose, but the extra fees are what are often forgotten. I wanted to keep the Tesla monthly cost to be the same as my last monthly payment, so in this video I show you how to calculate your monthly cost.

That would be so great if all cars could start lasting that long! I’m excited to see how Tesla’s age over the next few years and how that compares to a gas vehicle.

Success usually comes to those who are too busy looking for it. If you want a tesla, you don’t need to be rich to get one.
Very true.
I'm a Crypto investor, I bought a tesla very easy with just a week profit..
@@melpatriarca4498 easy like that. Wow.

You have the exact same configuration I plan to order. Excited to pull the trigger sometime soon. Congrats and thank you for this breakdown!
Cool! I’ve definitely loved it! Congrats!
Thanks for the video Carter! It's so great to hear that while Tesla is helping take care of a toxic pollution problem, they are also taking care of the toxic car buying experience that dealerships provide/inflict. I'm still about two years from buying a Tesla, but having driven one via Turo (highly recommend for anyone considering an EV), I'd say the best thing about driving a Tesla is simply the driving experience. They are fun, fast, handle great, drive comfortably, and are simply the best driving experience I've ever had...with no emissions to boot!
They are doing a great job. It was the best car buying experience I ever had!
Id take a scat pack tbh for several reasons i tried a tesla its fast but i just didnt find it as fun prob buy one in the future
Thank you for the detailed breakdown of the fees. I’m in NC also, so seeing exactly how the fees work out really helps in the financial planning of how much down payment I need to reach my desired monthly payment. Hopefully by the time I have my down payment ready, congress will pass the GREEN Act, and Tesla be included!
So glad I could help! And yes I totally agree! Any incentives to purchase EVs would help push the industry forward (any money off the purchase would be great 😊)

@@carterajones Thank you!! It would make me feel more comfortable knowing all of my options. Also the whole service scheduling and maintenance costs of the vehicle can be scary.
Great video!! The room you’re in is pretty echo-y (and not even terribly so). What you can do to get better audio is to have the microphone closer to your mouth, or even tossing some rugs on the floor. Clutter is your best friend because it breaks up echo :). Just a couple tidbits from a filmmaker! Loved watching this!

@@carterajones A lav mic would be great! Don’t worry about spending too much on one either - a mid-range mic will work wonders. Even using the in-line mic in Apple headphones helps for this reason (they don’t have amazing quality but get the mic closer to the sound source)

Insurance is another thing for folks to factor in. For me, it went up coming from an ‘18 Audi A6 to a ‘21 P3. It’ll vary per person and location as well. I typically pay more cause here in Colorado, we have hail storms every summer so our insurance is through the roof unfortunately.
So true. Insurance is so hard to compare to others since there are so many factors that go into it like location and bundled options.
I agree this is You will be glad you picked it. easiest ordering process i've had in many car purchases. Picked up my Model Y last July and still get a thrill driving it. I'm so glad you purchased the car when you did! Now the prices are crazy!!
For anyone about to buy, 2.49% is Teslas rate. If you email or call your sales advisor they can actually shop your rate with other Banks and get you something lower. I've seen people in my area get 1.99%
That’s awesome advice! They lower the better!
Just picked up my model 3 two days ago! I locate in Vancouver. We got $3000 from provincial government and $5000 rebate from Federal Government. So total $8000 CAD off.
Woah! That's awesome! That sounds like a deal to me. Congrats on the new car
How does he rebate from the govt work? Do they send you a check refund or do they give you a tax credit?
@@saevori4896 We got it two days after I applied for it through the Tesla website(basically I've just mentioneded which state/province I am in and the options will pop up). The money directly went to my down payment. I lease the car with a 7500 down pay plus transport fee, document fee and tax. the $8000 rebate covered most of the fees. So I didn't pay the total amount of the down payment at all.
@@saevori4896 This is just how I got the rebate from BC, Canada. I don't know how does it work elsewhere. but I'm sure you can visit or call Tesla to confirm.

Hello Ms. Jones. I was curious to see how you feel about the Tesla almost a year later. I have two vehicles, an older 220k mile Silverado and a low mile pleasure-driven Wrx STI. One pedal drive is my favorite feature. I just don't think I can ever go back to a two pedal drive car again.
Yes! I totally agree. One pedal driving is much more natural
Forgive my ignorance, but what is one pedal drive?
@@daloliveira5209 You can accelerate and break with the same pedal. So you don't need to use the break pedal anymore.
@@daloliveira5209 Tesla's have regenerative braking. Basically you don't need to hit the brakes to make the car stop. So you can drive and stop using one pedal.
@@mahadi_irl Damn... really

I just wanted to mention, since I didn't see it in the other comments, that if you want to get the free 1000 Supercharger miles by using Carter's referral link, you need to start your ordering process by clicking the referral link she has provided. If you go into the Tesla website and start the ordering process from there, you will not get the miles, and you can't go back and change that. I saw this tip on someone else's video, and so I started my ordering process from a referral link and it worked perfectly.
Thanks, Ann! I didn't realize that that is how it worked!
That's not completely true. I put my order in at a Tesla location a couple weeks ago and sent my "sales person" my friends code later that day since I didn't have it at the time. And then a different friend who's order had been pending for a couple months called in and added our code to his order. So 2 of my friends each got 1,000 miles and we got 2,000.
@@tasimp96 Oh, sorry for the misinformation. That's good to know.

I’m hoping future SR+ VINs will have the full premium stereo system or at least the option to upgrade it from software. That’s the way it was on the SR MY (for the few weeks it was a thing)
Yes I agree that would make sense too for the price range of the car!
I’m hoping so as well
Great video! I placed an order a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting on a vin, not sure why it’s taking so long. I do like the experience of no hounding and spending so many unnecessary hours at the dealership. With that said, I wish Tesla was a LITTLE more in contact, though. They are almost too hands off and aren’t very good at order updates, etc
Yes I totally agree. It took forever for me to get a VIN too. The waiting is the worst part.
@@carterajones did your delivery date ever keep flip flopping? Sometimes showing a range of dates and then sometimes just going back to estimate like 4-5 weeks from order date
@@Deetroiter Yes mine did! Mine changed twice but then the final date was honed in 2weeks before I ended up picking it up
Same here, and it always takes a long time at the end of the quarter unless you luck out and your configuration is is being sent out to a showroom.
I am not sure about other places, but I have seen a lot of Model 3 standard range plus vehicles being sent to showrooms as existing inventory. My girlfriend is buying one of them. I am wondering if this is normal for end of quarter, or if it is where people have backed out of their orders to wait for possible EV tax incentive to be renewed.
@@bladesbigdaddy I live up the road from the factory and the showroom staff basically told me that depending where you live is when you’ll get it. Since I live so close, I’ll always get it at the end of production no matter what. It always takes longer to ship them elsewhere so that’s why they give priority first. Not how true it is but seems to be as far as I can tell
Great video !

What did you do with your old car? Does Tesla take trade-ins or do you have to try to sell it or get rid of it some other way?
Tesla told me how much they would give me for it but I got more from Carvana so I sold it to them instead. I would shop around and see where you get the most money for it.

Why did they take away the EV tax credit ?
@@campanita6711 they didn't, it still exists, but Tesla and GM no longer qualify because they already sold over 200,000 EVs. The new bill would allow 400,000 more vehicles from both to qualify.

Query: if I did the cash option how does that work? I have a goodly amount that I can charge on my credit card but not $50,000 worth. Direct amount from my bank or some other method?
So for the cash option you would just have to pay the car off on the spot. If you have a ton of cash laying around that method works but for me because I have my money in stocks and make an average 8% a year on it, the 2.49% interest to take out the loan actually saves me money after the 6 years because the interest on the loan is quite low.

Funny how you mentioned Dave Ramsey and his hatred towards car loans/debt in general. Like you mentioned in the video, if the interest rate is low enough then there really isn’t a reason not to just finance the car.
Yes I totally agree! I do really like what he stands for though but agree that the loan and credit cards if used correctly can be beneficial.
Dave Ramsey also mentioned his dislike of Tesla and how he said Bitcoin was a terrible investment. Not everything he says is bad, but listening to the people calling in makes me feel better about myself sometimes.

Hi Carter, I bought a used 13000 miles 14 months old M3 performance around 3 weeks ago. I am absolutely loving the car. Hey just a heads up when calculating how much you’ll make from the 40k compounding at 8% you have to account for withdraws. I ran it based of $600 monthly payments and found you would make about 11k in interest not 23k. After deducting taxes on an annual basis and deducting interest expense you should expect to have made 6k from having invested the financed amount as opposed to buying out right. Hope that helps!
Hey Abe! Thanks for explaining. What do you mean you have to account for withdraws? Are you calculating a (600 withdrawal rate q month) which leads to 11k and after tax of 6k after 6 years. If you let the 40k sit for 6 years with a 8% compound wouldn’t you just pay tax on the 23k? Looking forward to your response! Thanks man!
@@m1culture182 ya you hit it on the nail. Compounding at 40k vs compounding while making payments will lead to significant differences in projected earnings.
Thanks for the tips on the math! I wouldn't be taking any money out and would invest it all at once.
