I like Nam, but not Dicodec frankly. It was the venerable Old Mr B who initially gave a boost to Nam-now she's performing with everyone on y t. As for Dicodec, they're part of the so-called "Gaijin Guys", an awfully noisy band of US reacters who are prone to putting misleading titles on their reaction vdos, watching illicit streams of live shows even when bands specifically ask their fans not to, and other types of misbehavior that Japanese bands are not impressed by. The manager of one band whose name you would recognize immediately told me he thought the Gaijin Guys are knuckleheads (that's not the word he used). I remember a couple of years ago Dicodec put a notice about their cover of Band-Maid's "Thrill" on B-M's twtr, and B-M deleted it within a few minutes. B-M were not impressed, no reason to be.
I am not trying to change your mind and I understand where you are coming from on this (the same for the bands/management). I also have way too much respect for the clear knowledge that comes from your comments. You certainly know way more about the industry than I do. Also, please ignore the comment if you want. Yes, I can see why their demeanor can turn Japanese people off since some of them can be very loud and that's typically not what I would say about most Japanese people. I personally enjoy their podcast, but yes it can be very chaotic. As far as the misleading/clickbaity titles go, I am not a fan either but it's unfortunately the yt game that pushes a lot of people to do so. Also covers, how good or bad they might be, will always get more views on the band. It's usually a show of appreciation for the song or the band, I don't think people will otherwise go through the process of learning a specific song. As far as their reactions go, I get what you are saying and I enjoy some of their personal channels more than others (to be fair the Dicodec one is not one of my favourites), but the main thing for me is that they opened my eyes to way more Japanese bands than I otherwise would have known and I have bought way more CD's, DVD's/Blu-ray's because of their reactions than I otherwise would have because of that. And yes, this is also something I attribute to a lot of other yt channels that show a lot of Japanese music outside of the Gaijin Guys, including this one. But some of their channels were some of the first I discovered that also showed less-reacted-to Japanese bands and I my knowledge about those bands basically grew with them over time. And yes a big reason is the people who request specific reactions (so I might have seen them on other channels), but it's some of those request streams that made me buy most of the Gacharic Spin live DVD's for example (and some of them were not cheap to find) and it made me appreciate the band way more than I already was. I don't think I would have otherwise spent that much money on old releases from a band I liked but not loved. So I don't think it's all bad for the Japanese music industry. Communities, like a lot of yt channels, also push people to look more into music and bands they otherwise wouldn't even look at. People that are ok with buying music will do so regardless of if they have seen a reaction to some non-official footage (if they can find it). I have bought close to 200 Japanese physical releases the last 2 to 3 years and the main reason for that has been reaction channels including theirs. One of their channels recently got a request for Tone Spoon, a Japanese band which had around 200 subs on yt before the reaction and is now around 330. I immediately searched for where to get their EP and I honestly think it will help out small bands like that to get more eyes on them and I have seen other people ask for requests as well on other channels. So even if that was a request, it does help spread the name of bands that most people otherwise wouldn't have known about. It might still not be enough, but at leas the reaction made a (small, but it's still 50% more) change to their yt subs. @Corrupted Files, Please check out Tone Spoon as well. They remind me a bit of a couple of other bands like tricot, Sokoninaru, Gacharic Spin and Polkadot Stingray, but they still do their own thing. I honestly think they deserve to be more known. They only have 3 videos on their channel (tonespoon9062), but I genuinly like them more every time I hear them.
@@MaartenT Thanks for your response. I work in the music industry in Japan (on the journo and business side) but I'm not Japanese. GaijinGuys do introduce their subscribers to a variety of Japanese bands, but so do other reacters and some for much longer. The best example is Old Mr B, but there are others, some of whom are no longer active or do other things now. I have had a personally unpleasant experience with the GGs, so my opinion may be prejudiced, but they indulge in practices that I find deplorable. (I don't watch them anymore with very very few exceptions, so things may have changed.) For one thing, they put misleading titles on vdos: their very first reaction they titled "Band-Maid's first live show", which anyone who knows about B-M would know was utterly wrong, but they kept that wrong title on the vdo for 4 or 5 weeks, though they were informed it was wrong within 1 or 2 days. The Gaijin Guy who was handling that vdo was Dicodec, and the title wasn't corrected until the other GGs were informed weeks later about the false title. Obviously D'dec was more interested in attracting views and subs than telling the truth. For another example, another of the GGs, Mear, talked about watching an illicit stream of B-M's performance at Summer Sonic last year, even as B-M specifically requested fans to refrain from watching illicit streams because such behavior caused problems with the producers of the event. I informed B-M's management and record label about Mear's behavior, by the way. For another example, GGs make illegal use of proprietary content by hiding it on p. a. t. r. e. o. n. in order to avoid blocks and strikes, and monetizing it by charging for the reactions. One of the GGs, Potter, did this with the Naon no Yaon show last year, which was limited-time pay-for-view content. I contacted KayoPops, the broadcaster of NnY last year, and they answered that Potter's behavior was "illegal". Of course, there are other reacters who do such things, but the GGs are annoyingly bombastic and egocentric-their reactions are essentially about themselves, not the bands which are ostensibly the subjects of their reactions. To me the GGs represent everything that's wrong or bad about y t reacters. So, we can agree to disagree.
@@OtobokeGaijin6218 Thanks for the response. I appreciate you taking your time, I mean it that I have a lot of respect for your view on these things. I do know Old Mr B, he is checking out Japanese musicians way longer than most other reactors probably. And I get your points about the streams, I don't think I have actually watched any of their streams for that. The main thing for me with this is that a lot of these events can not be legally viewed over here even though I would have been happy to be able to pay for something like Naon No Yaon for example (I looked for it 2 years ago and couldn't find a way to do it over here). I have seen about 50 to 60 streamed concerts over the last 2 years now mainly on zko and twtcstng, but some of the bigger services like eplus or the one that Naon No Yaon used don't seem to allow people from outside of Japan to watch. I don't know how big the audience is over here, I don't think it's probably that big but I am always super happy when smaller bands use twtcstng or Zko (or mahocst for a couple of jazz oriented shows). So while I understand that this probably has everything to do with rights management and things like that, it is pretty annoying for fans outside of Japan and it's probably the main reason why a lot of those fans try to find ways to watch it anyway. I am not saying it should be allowed to watch it from some Chinese platform or wherever else or by putting it behind a ptrn paywal, but it's a somewhat logical step for a lot of fans outside of Japan where things like fancams and such are way more "normal". One of the most frustrating things I have experienced as a consumer over the years is to not being able to give money to something you love because you are from a place they don't seem to care about. I have had this happen with videogames as well and now with music and it can be very frustrating (mzn Japan has this for some labels as well, especially for pre-orders). Opening this up for everybody will probably still keep people doing things like the ones you described, but at least the people who want to pay for it legally will be able to do so instead of trying to find an other way to watch it anyway. But I don't know how much more needs to be paid to be able to stream it worldwide, I guess too much or they would do so. It's a shame. As far as the GGs, I personally don't really see it being about themselves that often and I do think at least some of them want Japanese bands to grow in the West. But yes, they are probably trying to grow their brand as well, I can see how that might not look right to everybody. And I can certainly agree to disagree on that. I hope I didn't fire your up too much with this, that was not my intention. I hope all the brands that I made shorted versions of are legible enough, I know I will probably need to fiddle with this until it gets through the yt bots.
@@MaartenT I appreciate and understand your views too. As for the GGs, individually I suppose they're no different from most other reacters, but when they get together as a group I find them irritating. As for Old Mr B, no one does the variety he does. Ironically, during GGs interview with Mayu and Saki of Nemophila, when asked who her favorite reacter is, Mayu answered "Old Mr B". A few hours later the GGs took down that interview, though they did put it back up after Mr B agreed to do an interview with them. Yes, I see your point about availability of Japanese content in overseas markets. The Japanese are parochial in that regard. One reason K-Pop became huge worldwide is that a concerted joint effort was made by the Korean government, entertainment managements agencies, and media to boost the brand internationally. The Korean music market is relatively small and must look overseas, while Japan's music market is huge and domestically self-sustaining. If I had Elon Musk's money, instead of wasting it on twtr I would put together a world tour of Japanese bands, maybe 10 or 12 together, and make it an annual or bi-annual event.

Nam is a rising star. She likes to challenge herself. She has collaborated with a couple people and has many covers. She is from Hong Kong and is also in a band of her own.
Nam1541 has done another Unlucky Morpheus cover, as a challenge, she say's that covering Fuki really pushes her to her vocal limits. The REAL challenge - Phantom Blood - Unlucky Morpheus - covered by BabyNam ruclips.net/video/lh_2Mj-e6HY/видео.html I think most people came across Nam1541 due to Old Mr B, he even had a chat with her. She is such a lovely, bouncy person, and is always smiling. A band for you that I don't think you've reacted to Fate Gear, they can be a bit of an odd band at times, and have used Jill in 2 songs. To be fair I was not really in to them, until I was them live, twice now and going to see them a few more times this year, on their European tour.
