    • @mr.number9279
      @mr.number9279 29 дней назад +1

      @@GregM It isn't really the heat, but when the companies skimp out on parts. You sadly need to do a lot of research. Expensive laptops can use really cheap parts, like MSI with their dollar-store laptop hinges, Alienware with their VCore problems, ASUS with the MOSFETs, etc. But those same companies can have some laptops at similar or even less price points WITHOUT those issues.
      A bigger problem now is the power flowing through a laptop. Five years ago a gaming laptop wasn't going past like, what, 180W, for the CPU and GPU? Now the CPU or GPU need nearly that much for themselves, to say nothing of the other one needing a similar amount. This means cheaper components REALLY can't be used, but still are for some reason in certain lines.
      The lack of industry standards is depressing.

    I used to prefer Asus Laptops over other trade marks. However, I am very disappointed because of failures in the power supply system and other failures short after the expiration day of guarantee. In addition to the built-in ram memory modules which in failing leaves you with an expensive repair in most countries or another laptop in the trash can. So, I've decided to try other trademarks.

    The reason people would underclock it is because of Intel's lunacy. Their CPUs, desktop OR laptop, are so absurdly power hungry now that they cook themselves and, in the case of sensitive things like a laptop, fry capacitors/other components a lot. Intel's clown solution was to "underclock", even though any CPU that's ever hit 65W is a victim.
    And any CPU is going to hit at least 65W now with Intel. We have no reason to believe Intel on the "65W+" thing, they've consistently lied about Raptor Lake/refresh this entire time.
    The average high-end laptop CPU from Intel how runs at 55-65W *standard* now while turboing anywhere up to and over 150W. Remember, depending on workload, room temps, and laptop cooling, it can sustain itself at said wattage, which with modern Intel is... scary. My 2020 Sager laptop is a "45W" chip that can comfortably sustain itself at ~65-70W for workloads (gaming does count as a workload).
