    Thank you for the very informative video, I’m so envious of the life you have created for yourselves in Bulgaria away from the cesspit of the UK,well done.
    Also tell sue that she was a natural behind the camera and to keep it up. I always enjoy your videos particularly about the Himalayan as I am considering changing my 1997 Yamaha XJ900s diversion to a Himalayan as I am finding it a bit of a heavy beast at 64, especially two up.

    Hi Guys, first of all I LOVED this video !!!! It's great when we talk bikes, but it's also fantastic when we get an insight into a family who've actually done stuff.
    As we all know it's a very big deal moving to another country, but it's a marvelous adventure too.
    We've been in France permanently now for 22 yrs and the life sounds in many ways alot like Bulgaria, with it's attitudes, cost of living etc. I am so very pleased to see how well you have integrated into the Bulgarian way of living and wish you continued success in all that you do.
    If you are ever in Central France give me a call and we'll have a rideout and a beer.

    Thanks for that potted history, mate. Your story's not dissimilar to ours. Left Blighty for SW France in 2003 and we're on our third house now. We too have 3.5 hectares and grow all our own veg summer and winter and a lot of fruit. It's all permaculture so no rotovating required, but I spend the equivalent shredding tons of twigs and branches making enough wood chippings for the beds! And of course we make our own compost. Haven't had any chickens for a couple of years because we've got so much on our plate, but I miss that so it won't be long before the chicken run gets built! Lovely to see other people doing the same thing, The Good Life!

    Another brilliant video, nicely done Ian & Sue…. What a great insight into both yours lives… Here in Oz, everything is outrageously expensive, some yearly examples of what it costs. .. electricity $3,500.00 +++. …council rates, home insurance 4 bedroom $4500 +++++++++ depending on location etc. ….small car insurance, registration, 3rd party $1100 +++ ….petrol $2:30 ++ (91 RON) litre, much more expensive for premium… Great garden & I can see so much potential for growth,… BTW love the cat antics & well done Sue for the great overview as well… cheers Phil

    Very interesting from both of you. Cost wise the problem with the UK is the sheer size of the population for things like seeing a dr. One think you left out is the old chestnut with British people...language. How much of the language can you speak and how long did it take to learn enough to converse in Bulgarian on a daily basis?

    Hi Ian, thanks for the in sight into your life in Bulgaria. Here's a question for you at one time a lot of Bulgarians were coming to the UK to work, is this because the wages here are higher. Also will the currency ever change to the euro.
    At present I'm riding a RE Interceptor just on 24k miles with no problems.

    • @iantoy7778
      @iantoy7778  4 месяца назад

      Hi, Yes the Bulgarians were going to work in the UK before Brexit due to the higher wages. They don't seem to think about higher wages mean higher living costs. Although many of them would rent a house and have a room each, splitting the bills between them. Doing it this way would have been fairly cheap I suppose. Since Brexit many have either come home or gone to other EU countries.
      We are supposed to be going over to the euro next January. Not sure what effect that will have on things. Probably put prices up.

    What are the best websites to find cheap land for sale or blighted properties that need renovations, I'm looking for a property close to Bansko, would prefer a mountain view.

    • @iantoy7778
      @iantoy7778  Месяц назад

      Your best option would be to come over and spend some time in the area you are interested in. Find a village that you like the look of and contact the local mayor. He will know what is available. If you buy direct from owner it will be considerably cheaper.
      I don't know the area around Bankso as I have not visited it yet. There are plenty of online estate agents but always look at their customer reviews.

      What you have to remember is the UK is no longer in the EU. I have lived here about 12 years now and have full residency. Now you can only stay 90 day in every 180 days. You have to sort out visas ect now a lot of messing around.
