It would be nice to address the topic of cheating (and I include looking at repos to see how someone made it), I feel like it's the elephant in the room when it comes to 42

@@Pvcdr I think that debugging is an skill, and also coming up with solutions in your own.
You have to practice the skill to get better.
And if you just look it up now, you are not learning the skill that will be able to help you when that help isn't aviable.
Ideally you wouldn't look at anything, but I don't think it's that bad if it's ocasional.
Anyway it's just how i undderstand it, I might be wrong

The school is for free, there is no diploma. What is the purpose of cheating? You get absolutely nothing out of it.

What Anna said is basically valid for every university/education center on Earth. Even if you graduate from Harvard, Oxford, etc. if you can not prove yourself to employers somehow, you're kinda worthless. So do not trust only your education, but your knowledge and ability to learn.
    Also, thanks for the video.

      @@gerxiohuyte6633 Its hardcore.
I worked 12 - 16 hours per day during piscine.
You dont have to but i wanted to get accepted so i did and tbh i think they want you see trying as hard as possible.
It doesnt really matter if you fail some exams ( as long as you really try)
Always subscribe to ALL the events. Mental health check in? Doesnt matter if you feel great subscribe to it and go there. A bingo event? Doesnt matter if you dont like Bingo just go there anyways.
They want you to socialice and to learn so if you manage to do these 2 things your fine.
You will learn how to properly code in c. That means your not using a "printf" no you will learn how to re-write the print f and many many more things.
By the end of it you will be able to write small programms and you will really know all the functions in detail.
They have a special norm in place that forces you to write code perfectly and i mean that.
1 space on a empty line or you used space instead of tab?
Allright exercise failed do it all again.
Its a natural selection process in there. After week one the pisciner count halfed after week 3 we were maybe only 40 active ppl (we started with over 200)
It was really really hard and i never worked so hard in my entire life BUT i had a absolute great time while doing it. There was always someone cracking a joke and i was constantly smiling. If you dont know something a peer will help you and in return you will teach the next peer that laggs behind you.
The concept is awesome alltho not for everyone.
They will bombard you with tasks and exercises.
Never give up in there thats one of the most important things no matter how exhausted you are, just keep trying.
      Failing is learning.
      :)

How you can transfer to the 42 Paris campus, I mean, there are over 10000 students all over the world right now and I think a lot of people would want to transfer to the Paris campus. So they have to eliminate someone, somehow. How is this process, and what are they looking for?

    • @codinggirl_
      @codinggirl_  2 года назад +3

For me, I had to finish common core and first internship (but that was almost a year ago). Now, due to political situation in Russia, they don’t have these restrictions, but believe me that among 500 people who wanted to transfer, only around 10 or smth have really done it. So I think there is no problem here. Preparing visa document etc takes time and effort. Not everyone wants to move to a new city, especially Paris, which is relatively expensive.
In case you want to change the campus, I think it’s better to write directly to adm of the campus and they will tell you what you need to do (my case is too old to give you real action plan, as I told, it’s been already 1 year since I transferred my profile to 42 Paris)
