"And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen?" Well, these are questions, not statments. The statements come in the end: "I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land." What a beautiful hymn / anthem, indeed ...
I remember singing this when I was in highschool in Australia. It's a beautiful song. But here in America, I've never seen anyone sing it. I guess it's obvious why. And I noticed, no American flag in this concert. lol
To the memory of Lee Rigby, the British soldier savagely hacked to death yesterday in London. The UK will survive this matter, as it has survived other threats to its existence throughout its history.
americas patriotism is based on their belief they're still a super power and the only country on the face of the planet that has 'freedumz' The British have thousands of years of history and culture to be proud of. The 2 cannot be compared.
@trevair Because its Englands song not not the UK's. God save the Queen is one thing we all have in common which is why its our anthem each country in the UK has its own national anthem.
@ViDeOMaStErPaUl I visited St Albans recently. I doubt it will ever happen but there is a move to make St Alban Englands patron saint. It makes sense as St George is a foreign legend but St Alban was a real person. He was a soldier in the Roman army who exchanged costumes to save the priest and became the 1st English christian martyr
My ancestors are English, and guess what, they were thrown out of their village, cast away to a far away land, and no they weren't convicts. The village was vanished from the earth, this is how the English govt treats its own...
My ancestors were English, moved to Newfoundland, chased away some local catholics and 400 years later we're still functionally British, and questionably more patriotic for England's behalf than even the British themselves are
'Hear ye! Hear ye!' - the protesting Super Pope has spoken! And what hath his heinous honey-suckling hubris have that is now, here & bringing this forth to the world?...but a doctrine which is supra- ultra- & extra-biblical dogma that is double-dicked with detrimental demagoguery. Sorry.
What? You say Budweiser is better than Carlsberg? :D No, it's not. Bud is worse, but both are kinda bad. Try visiting Belgium or your Czech neighbours..
This is one of very few songs that my school enjoys singing in chapel. And we're in New Zealand so that says a lot about how great this song is!
I'm half spaniard, quarter canadian and quarter welsh. And I still feel goosebumps every time while listening to that.
Could there be a more befitting tribute to the precious words of
Will Blake than this sweet music?.... It winds throughout heart and mind.
Bravo!
Gives me the chills every time!

Has anyone ever said that? Because unless they're an Ancient Greek, I don't think anyone in the world has the right to say that.
