@williamlewis1592 i think most of the buttons used in the video is the joystick because it has the largest settings if you are asking about where are the buttons : there is 4 buttons behind the monitor to your right-hand the first button which is in the right down corner is turning off your monitor or turning it on , the one after it is about changing the preset gamevisuals (i like to use Racing Mode , you could also use Cinema Mode they wont hurt your monitor try them all and see what looks nice to you and use it) ,, the button after it is mostly helpful in aiming games by using the "Crosshair" or showing your FPS , the button after it is just to close any menus in the settings instantly, now after these 4 buttons u will find a small joystick it will help you to go right/left/up/down like a controller in the menus , and also you can press it and it will show you a very large amout of settings, i want you to go to the first section (Gaming) and go to overclock if your monitor has more than 144hz u need to overclock your monitor to get the maximum (Hz) your montior can display, you could also go to your monitor settings inside windows and check your monitor Hz it will be by default 60hz if your monitor has higher (hz) than that then increase it i think these are the most important ones to know and i hope i answered your question

Its a 60 Hz monitor and there is nothing you can do about it. My issue is that HDR on my ps5 looks so bland and lifeless. Does HDR look good on your monitor?
Even if this monitor has Free sync and other gaming technologies, 60 Hz makes all of them useless for ps5 since it doesnt support these features unless your monitor is 120 hz or higher. VRR is not supported on this monitor even if it has AMD free sync. All i hope for is that PS5 pro will fix everything
About VRR and the Valorant example, when your fps exceed yor monitors max refresh rate, VRR is NOT working. Depends on your gpu and the driver what happens here. I use fast sync with nvidia, i think there is sort of same for amd?!
I'm asking for advice. I intend to buy a gaming monitor, ( NOT for gaming primarily ), but to connect my Samsung Z Fold 3 smartphone, and to use the monitor as a second screen for the smartphone. Primarily to watch movies and videos. Occasionally, there will be some gaming, using my smartphone. I do have a gaming desktop PC, which is an entirely different set up, and I don't need any help with that. Question: Since my smartphone display is 1920 X 1080p resolution, with a refresh rate of 120hz, would I be wasting my money, if I bought a gaming monitor with a higher resolution, ( say, for instance 1440p, and a higher refresh rate, say, for instance 165 or 170 hz )? Wouldn't my monitor be "limited" by the capabilities of my smartphone, and therefore, I would "not" need a monitor higher than 1080p resolution, and also, no higher than a 120hz refresh rate? Same specifications as the smartphone's display? Is that true? Or, false? Thank you very much. I appreciate your input. I think the answer is obvious, ( even to me ), but I want to hear someone else tell me.
From Samsung “Wired: Supports DisplayPort over USB type-C. Supports video out when connecting via HDMI Adapter. (DisplayPort 4K UHD at 60 fps)” so you could technically go up to 4k, but 1440p 120hz may be your best bet. It just doesn’t provide refresh rate numbers for other resolutions outside of 4k
@@TechRoundUp I really appreciate your rapid, and thoughtful, response. Thanks very much. I want to know, whether my smartphone's display resolution specs, ( 1920 X 1080p ), and refresh rate spec, ( 120hz ), will be the "limit" that my new monitor will be bound to? I don't see how I can achieve 1440p resolution, connected to a smartphone that "tops out" at 1080p. If that's the case, then it would make "no sense", for me to buy a gaming monitor with a higher resolution, and faster refresh rate, ( because the new monitor will be connected to, and driven by, that smartphone ). Is my thinking right? Is that correct? Or, not? I want to buy the new gaming monitor today, ( immediately ), or as soon as I know what makes sense. Thanks again, very much. I appreciate your expertise.
The screen resolution of your phone will not match the usb-c output capabilities to an external monitor. The processor in the phone can support much higher resolution than 1080p, for an external monitor.
@@TechRoundUp So, buying a 1440p gaming monitor might be a good idea? How about refresh rate? Does the same hold true for that? Can my monitor go faster than 120hz? Because that's what the phone puts out. Thanks. And, if you don't mind educating me, a little, how do you know my smartphone's processor can push my monitor above 1080p? How could I look at the specs of my processor, and figure that out too, ( like you did )?
@@TechRoundUp Been shopping. Trying to take your advice, but every time I find a portable gaming monitor, ( with higher screen resolution than 1080p ), the refresh rate is only 60hz. Quad HD, 2K, and 4K portable monitors, all brag about their tremendous picture qualities, but when you look at their numbers closely, their refresh rates are all a sorry-assed 60hz. So, it looks like, I have to choose. Please help me understand? I guess the current state of technology in this area means, you can't get both, in the same monitor, ( for under $1,000. ), and I'm looking at "portable" monitors. Not desktop monitors... I think, I would rather have the "speed" of a faster refresh rate. Televisions are 60hz. That's nothing to brag about. Will I still get a clear picture on my screen with 1080p? Most of my time will be spent watching movies, amd videos, but when I do play games, 60hz is "unacceptable". What do you think? What would you buy?

Hello guys I got an Asus Tuf F15 laptop some time ago. (rtx 4060 and core i7 12700h with 1080p screen). Normally, in the settings section, my resolution goes up to 1080p (of course, I can change it to 4k with DSR). Today I got an asus tuf vg27aq1a monitor (2k 170hz), now when I go to the resolution section, without activating dsr, I can still choose 4k!! with the difference that in this case it goes up to 60hz. I wanted to know what's going on? Is this real 4k or has it been upscaled? should i use it? When i switch to 4k , even my monitor says it is 4k 60hz( when i use the joystick thing in back of it)
I came to this video to see if there is any mention of this exact situation in the video or in the comments (and if not to comment about it looking for some answers). I just bought this monitor few days ago, (I'm very satisfied with it so far) and I have exactly the same situation. It was advertised as 144p 170Hz (which works fine), however I have option of 4K 60Hz out of the box, and I didn't mess around with settings in Nvidia control panel, or something similar. What I suspect happed is that this was supposed to be a 4K model, but it was defective in some way, most likely couldn't do more than 60Hz at 4K (and maybe it was supposed to be a 100Hz 4K model). Another possibility is that it was some discontinued 27 inch 4K model (discontinued in the early stages of production). In either case instead of scraping it (and completely loosing money on it) they decided to sell it as a 144p model, but in our case they forgot (or something) to flash appropriate 144p firmware to it, so we ended up with a 4K monitor. Essentially we won a silicon lottery with monitors. I didn't notice any dead pixels on my monitor. Did you find any more information on this? I find this whole situation very fascinating.

I just bought this model as an upgrade to my Asus 27inch from about 5 years ago. An extra 5 inches of display. 100hz extra refresh. extra resolution and HDR. Oh boy I cant wait till it gets here. I wanted something with a bigger screen and better image quality because I mostly watch stuff on my monitor anyway. Also the fact that this monitor isnt a curved screen was also a plus for me because I dont want movies and video to be squished or warped. Overall I really like these Asus monitors and their design and interface is good also. Definently recommend these as the Go to monitors for the price.

I only just purchased this monitor a couple of weeks ago for the cool price of 29,800 yen (yep I live in Japan). I'm not really tech savvy and have been trying to find a video that will explain how to get the best out of this monitor. All the videos I've found so far only show, like you the person pressing the buttons but not showing what buttons are being pressed. If you have the time could you recommend a video that will show me what buttons does what and how to make adjustments to improve the performance. I'm 70 years old so kinda need things explained to me in simple english. You clearly know what you are talking about but I couldn't really follow what you were saying. I don't want to play around with it in case I stuff it up. Hoping you can help. Thank you.
if you want the best refresh rate you want to make sure that you have a display port cable and not a hdmi and the display port you will get the full 165hz, its all dependant on what your pc is tho, what do you play on or use the monitor for?
@Coryd-nk9vo I use it for gaming Cory. My system is now 10 years old but I've not had any issues with any games over the years. I bought F1 2024 in July and it runs smoothly. I will try what you have suggested. Thank you for your reply.
@@williamlewis1592 no problem at all, you can also download Nvidia drivers and make sure they’re up to date, if you ever want better performance in the future you want a CPU with 8 cores and a GPU with atleast 6-8gb of VRam memory, I use a 7600x and it still works amazing
@williamlewis1592 i think most of the buttons used in the video is the joystick because it has the largest settings
if you are asking about where are the buttons :
there is 4 buttons behind the monitor to your right-hand the first button which is in the right down corner is turning off your monitor or turning it on ,
the one after it is about changing the preset gamevisuals (i like to use Racing Mode , you could also use Cinema Mode they wont hurt your monitor try them all and see what looks nice to you and use it)
,, the button after it is mostly helpful in aiming games by using the "Crosshair" or showing your FPS ,
the button after it is just to close any menus in the settings instantly,
now after these 4 buttons u will find a small joystick it will help you to go right/left/up/down like a controller in the menus , and also you can press it and it will show you a very large amout of settings, i want you to go to the first section (Gaming) and go to overclock if your monitor has more than 144hz u need to overclock your monitor to get the maximum (Hz) your montior can display, you could also go to your monitor settings inside windows and check your monitor Hz it will be by default 60hz if your monitor has higher (hz) than that then increase it
i think these are the most important ones to know and i hope i answered your question

Well, I have that monitor but I can't get the sound to come out of the speakers it has, I already tried with the buttons and from the Windows but the sound is activated, it comes out but you can't hear it?

Hello guys
I got an Asus Tuf F15 laptop some time ago.
