That reminds me of a movie I saw awhile back called "The Happening"
Where the plants were releasing pheromones casing people to kill themselves. It was a scene where they were talking about how this plant releases hormones to attract wasps to come and kill the caterpillars that are eating it.

I had a similar experience as your depression after eating herbs. I am a psychotherapist - 30 years. I know my emotions and moods very well. Keto for 2 years, Carnivore for 5 months. Last night ate a steak covered in Cajun seasoning. Went to bed and I was flooded with anxiety. Really dark thoughts. I have processes to clear anxiety and they didn't work. Unusual. I prayed myself I self to sleep. Woke up fine. I reviewed my food that day and didn't pinpoint the seasoning. I first thought it was because I watched a suspenseful rather violent Netflix. It didn't add up until I heard you talk about the herbs on your lamb roast. It is profound how cleared up my mental/emotional got eating carnivore and now when something like this hits me it confirms I am on the right track. As a therapist it is now hard to treat clients with anxiety/depression and not suggest carnivore - most don't believe me, most prefers carbs. I understand tho, i wouldn't have believed the profound healing, physical and mental on carnivore if I hadn't experienced it myself.

I so wish I had found this information before coming across all the vegan influencers, I added meat back a few years ago and now am I ketovore. I crave meat nonstop since adding it back. I appreciate you saying at times we may need medication for different things even if carnivore but may need less which is great...I was in an auto accident and while healing has been challenging I know this way of eating will give me my best chance. I was vegan for 3.5 years after listening to Medical Medium Anthony Williams who promotes a high carb, zero fat, plant based diet and only how that with time I can recover... people are feeding their kids a fruit only diet listening to him, it's so sad. Thanks for the video. I started eating carnivore the day after Thanksgiving. I primarily wanted to see if there was anything to the mental health benefits as well. First of there absolutely is. I have done a total 180. Not without a couple of mistakes along the way. At about the 2 month mark I drank a cup of black coffee. It was everything I dreamed of...Man it was euphoric! BUT, the next day I woke up agitated, angry and everything pissed me off for absolutely no reason. My family surprised me with a trip to Vegas for my 50th bday and I damn near ruined it. The second incident happened close to how yours did. We had new friends invite us to dinner and there was tri tip on the grill. They were warned of my weird diet where I ate meat and salt. Evidently to them, it meant they could still be able to use a spice rub. I knew immediately, but rather than make a stink, I decided to go with it and see if I would react. Wow, again, I was irritable, and my joints ached for 2 days. Not as severe as the coffee but a noticeable difference. Sorry for the novel, but I thought I would chime in to say it does make a difference! The black cloud of dispair and hopelessness and the anger and irritable moods are gone. I wish I had come across this way of eating decades ago. I'm never going back. Oh, and the 35 lb weight loss is a great side effect!

Such a revelation when you test your personal reaction when you add carbs again a few times, and hit the pits in a big way. I now know my insulin response to any food. “The Fear” described for alcohol is exactly what I have after insulin raising foods. Treating myself for inflammation and chronic pain, my anxiety and depression disappeared. Almost all the testimonials. I have heard saying the same thing with an increase in clarity, focus and memory recall. I've been eating "mostly" carnivore for months and have improved. I had my labs done January 31. For example,, my HbA1c was 4.9 and my glucose was 85. My inflammation numbers were better than before but still need to improve. Btw, I have RA. I spent 6 years in a wheelchair and have had 4 joint replacements. On February 7th I decided it was time to go full Lion Carnivore and eliminate the seasonings. I stopped my meds as well. I had significant improvement in reduced hip pain and walking. I have swelling in my wrists but no pain. And then, Yesterday I ate Italian Chicken Sausage. The flavor said Basil & Tomato. After eating it I had so much pain in my right hip I could hardly walk and had a terrible time sleeping last night. My hands became achy. NO MORE SAUSAGE for me. Today it's strictly steak and I'm improving again. I guess we all need to test to find out what affects us personally. It's totally TRUE! Those seasonings do something to us! It isn't just the foods. Believe me, it's much sadder to be sick, in pain 24/7, have no energy, and have my joints replaced than it is to eat a strict Carnivore diet.

Dr Chafee. I don’t doubt carnivore or keto can help dramatically to improve or maybe eliminate mental health issues.. but in your case I think you were experiencing a big dose if guilt, from breaking your diet that night. :). I’m wondering if ypu may have considered that.
Ive been keto for years and carnivore for about a year. Finally off of anxieties meds.
Occasionally I will have a bad day where I eat something “green” or a tiny piece of cake at a birthday party, and I feel terrible later too.. I kind of think it’s just guilt and frustration over having to cheat a little in order to be “nice” to a guest.
I love your videos! Thanks very much to helping me keep up my carnivore diet.

      @anthonychaffeemd  Год назад +7

I don't think it was guilt on my part, as I wasn't doing a "diet" and didn't feel guilty about having some herbs; I was actually interested in seeing what would happen. Also, I tried it the next day and felt the same, and then months and years later when greens would slip into my food I would get extremely down at the smallest of things. It still happens. I don't know what it is that's doing it, but there's some chemical in greens that really mess up my brain.

I’m so fascinated and intrigued by this. I’ve had clinical depression and anxiety my whole life but it comes from a source of trauma. Then I self medicated FOR YEARS with booze, drugs and sugar. I’ve tried being vegan, vegetarian, doing juice fasts to “cleanse” my body of all the “putrefied meat”! In my digestive track plus my love of animals. BUT, I cannot deny when I eat a steak or ground beef I feel grounded instantly and FED! Soothed! Not in a toxic unhealthy way, either. My body telling me YES. So I’m going to try this. I’m on medication for PTSD and anxiety disorder and I absolutely believe medicine to have it’s place on a journey whether it’s permanent or temporary. Mine has saved my life and given me a life back. But I do want to try this way of eating. It may not be super “clean” as that takes money. But I’ll do my best. Plus if I’m only eating meat, all that other stuff I’m always purchasing should go down if not eliminated. It gives me hope that I can feel clarity, stability, peace and energy without medicine one day. I’m trying to decide if I work the healthful food in and slowly give up my sugars, or go cold Turkey. As an addict I know really there’s usually no tapering. Once it’s in the system it just keeps you chained. How exciting! Thanks for all your info and thanks to my HP that led me here. I heard you talking about buying a whole cow? How much does that cost? Perhaps people would go in on that with me. 😆 I love things like my dates and figs but to eliminate it all and add back. Then you know where something is coming from.
Also! Inflammation! From decades of wrong things put in my body. I’d imagine the brain could get inflamed? In a way? I have pain in my hands and…well, almost every where and I can’t take things for this so I hope this helps with that as well.

I have experienced almost the same things,
Keep on changing, don't give up,
Have one thing as a rule of thumb, every time you mix carbs with meat in some way, whether along with the meal or not, you are likely to feel your foreign body.,
It gradually eliminates, and when it is cleaner of carbohydrates,
When you feel abstinence, be ready to understand that it is the sugar addiction, and so prepare a meat meal, and little by little you will feel better and improve every day,
But this requires discipline, and understanding that your body is changing and detoxifying,
      I have helped in something,

All of the depression and anxiety I experienced dozens of times throughout the day at intensities of 8/10 were now 2/10; and they only happened a handful of times with a transience that made it so much easier to let go of those emotions when they popped up.

I dont know if this will reach anyone that has debated this, but my friend is a strict vegan and weed smoker, tobacco ( it is legal where she lives) and I am on Carnivore. We had a healthy debate /discussion ( she understands that carnivore has turned my mental health around and she clearly sees it) about if smoking weed/tobacco is giving the same reaction to those effected by plants in general.....I thought it was an interesting topic that some who smoke become calm and others can panic or get sick. We were left at a stale mate, but I have some very depressed friends who are smokers ( not all) and I was thinking they were possibly allergic? She doesnt believe smoking would yield the same effect due to its not in your gut system.....anyway if someone has an idea I thought it was an interesting topic!

On the fish, you would be better off with tinned salmon, sardines, or mackerel. Tuna is a predator fish so it accumulates the heavy metals we have polluted the oceans with in its flesh. Also check what kind of oil the fish is packed in. Olive oil will do but water packed is best. If it is packed in soybean or other seed oils, put it back on the shelf.
