    18 capacitors of 4700µF 25V in parrallel make 84600µF 25V. That means 0.0846 ampere second / volt, but it seems on the video that the high current is provided for a more longer period of time than the capacitors are able to supply... The power supply is never shown in that kind of videos...

    • @robertsteigemann9375

      He has written "connected battery 12V" at 6:35. So I guess that he used some kind of lead acid battery from a car or similar. So the battery is capable of high current. I wonder a little bit that the 6A diode survives, maybe not forever. You can see the tip melting when it sticks to the metal stripe. Also there is nothing useful welded... I would rather use a lab power supply with reasonable current limit to charge the capacitor pack.

    Good idea but the output power can be reduced by removing one line of the capacitors so the nickel plates and the probes will not get burnt. This is needed while you want to weld the lithium ion battery pack making. Otherwise too much current and voltage will destroy the batteries internal chemistry.

    • @josphe9011
      @josphe9011 2 года назад +8

      I think you're a bit confused.. The current and voltage do not go through the battery, rather the contact point of it.

    Insanely overkill, you don’t want to make holes in the surfaces you’re spot welding. Also I feel the electrodes are too thin to safely carry such high currents. Coupled with the fact that electrodes are getting stuck to the metal, the electrodes may overheat melting the plastic and you might end up with burnt hands.

    If applied voltage, relay or current limiting circuit should be their to disconnect the voltage while welding , so as to use charged capacitor voltage at one spot weld. ....
    This circuit is without current limiting protection ... May be danger if stuck continues ...

      If you have any rod, not aluminium, that's 2 soft, mild steel rod, basically any rod that is conductive and not 2 soft. Eg gold, silver, copper, etc etc. Make sure you insulate the rod all the way to the cable join, make a tip, either by hand sanding or machine sanding, if you got a tig welder use the Tungsten rod.

    After watching countless videos on spot welding & trying some of them, finally concluded 99 % are not practical. If you want weld quality at par to a professional spot welding machine, the cheapest & handy way is use inverter battery & copper wire probes(thick & pointed). Probes to be kept parallel by tying or fixing. Of course there should be an insulation between them such as wooden stick/pen/glue gun stick/eraser etc. & their points can be kept at a distance of 4 - 5 mm. Check by doing yourself to belive. Thanks
