18 capacitors of 4700µF 25V in parrallel make 84600µF 25V. That means 0.0846 ampere second / volt, but it seems on the video that the high current is provided for a more longer period of time than the capacitors are able to supply... The power supply is never shown in that kind of videos...
He has written "connected battery 12V" at 6:35. So I guess that he used some kind of lead acid battery from a car or similar. So the battery is capable of high current. I wonder a little bit that the 6A diode survives, maybe not forever. You can see the tip melting when it sticks to the metal stripe. Also there is nothing useful welded... I would rather use a lab power supply with reasonable current limit to charge the capacitor pack.
Good idea but the output power can be reduced by removing one line of the capacitors so the nickel plates and the probes will not get burnt. This is needed while you want to weld the lithium ion battery pack making. Otherwise too much current and voltage will destroy the batteries internal chemistry.
Insanely overkill, you don’t want to make holes in the surfaces you’re spot welding. Also I feel the electrodes are too thin to safely carry such high currents. Coupled with the fact that electrodes are getting stuck to the metal, the electrodes may overheat melting the plastic and you might end up with burnt hands.
What input voltage applied to capacitor ..? If applied voltage, relay or current limiting circuit should be their to disconnect the voltage while welding , so as to use charged capacitor voltage at one spot weld. .... This circuit is without current limiting protection ... May be danger if stuck continues ... Idea is good , but need to explain well.. Pls , show update in next video .. 🍁🍁🌹
Input power kaise aur kitna diya tha? Aur battery cell ko jodne par agar patti me chhed ho jayenge to pura cell bekar ho jayega, to thode capacitors kam karke sirf welding kar sake utna hi kaise kare?
6s/3p I think 6 in a series, 3 times, then join all the negatives together on one end, and all three positives on the other. Use the bar that joined all negatives as your negative leaf and the bar that none joined the positive as your positive lead
جميل جدا.....ما فائده الدايود ...وهل يمكن استخدام الباور سبلاى الذى يستخدم فى صيانه الموبيلات كمصدر للكهرباء. Very nice..... what is the benefit of the diode... and can the power supply that is used in the maintenance of mobiles be used as a source of electricity.
Wow superb project, bro are the capacitors are connected parallel? And what is the name of the rods which is used for spot welding?the black and red rods
If you have any rod, not aluminium, that's 2 soft, mild steel rod, basically any rod that is conductive and not 2 soft. Eg gold, silver, copper, etc etc. Make sure you insulate the rod all the way to the cable join, make a tip, either by hand sanding or machine sanding, if you got a tig welder use the Tungsten rod.
and that right there is how you start a fire. that is way too much current going through them leads. you are going to blow up something with that much power coming from them caps like that without any type of curcuit protections...
After watching countless videos on spot welding & trying some of them, finally concluded 99 % are not practical. If you want weld quality at par to a professional spot welding machine, the cheapest & handy way is use inverter battery & copper wire probes(thick & pointed). Probes to be kept parallel by tying or fixing. Of course there should be an insulation between them such as wooden stick/pen/glue gun stick/eraser etc. & their points can be kept at a distance of 4 - 5 mm. Check by doing yourself to belive. Thanks
Oo. Kindly excuse ,you mentioned ..100 volt ... Is ok.. But still 100amp is too much for wire using for spot welding ... Current rating is not satisfying with the cable you are using for spot welding .. May 10amp much more ..easy to discript... Pls don't mind .... Subject is show true knowledge as many beginners are dependent on you tube videos to search their results should not go wrong... Kind to give proper specifications... Good time...👍👍🌹🌹
I have the 4700f 50v capacitors, twice the voltage of these, could I use those? I never have had capacitor measurements or ratings properly explaned to me...

To fongmaho, which formulae did you use to calculate 0.0846 ampere second/volt? ????
not sure about spot welding... but it is certainly a weapon ... many interesting techniques demonstrated.. thanks,.

I think you're a bit confused.. The current and voltage do not go through the battery, rather the contact point of it.
OMFG the tip of that soldering iron I'm literally dying inside
Why?
Looks dangerous. I love it. Could probably improve the handheld setup though.
Need to learn proper soldering first
Whoaaa😳😳😳 it melted that strip at 0 secs, thatss soo satisfying to watchh💕🌟
Spot hole machine will be a suitable title
Hey, I got an idea. Since you call it a spot welder, you could try welding something with it instead of burning holes in stuff.
Super capacitor 👍
"Flux Capacitor"

What about the power supply?

Dc 12v
Thanks
Shit don't go putting AC on that.
But there are caps you.can bit if your not licenced electrical don't f with that, you get hurt bad...
Thanks golly

What is the source of supply?
Wow very amazing project
How many volt you in put
Don't need to use all 25v, mate. Or maybe limit current.
Very nice
what can I use to control the amount of current/ amp the capacitor release ?
Nice👍
Good, but i will like to know whether you attached battery to the terminals
more like taser then spot welder but nice idea
I couldn't really tell, are they run in series or in parallel..?? Thx.
And per usual, very creative amazing work. Mahalo

There are no rods, he used multimeter leads as the rods or spot for the weld.
The spots were made on a piece of nickel wire, actually strip.

You made this contraption just for making smoky sparks? I believe it was supposed to weld two iron sheets together! What happened?!
May be spot weld for making cars, defo not for battery spot welds :)
Why do you need a set of capacitors when you have a high ampere DC power supply? that is already enough to achieve spot welding I suppose.
maybe it will be better if using tactical switch button
