The song always reminds me of my dad, a WWII vet. Was just a kid when I would go around with him and he'd drop in a local watering hole to see somebody. And the music would be on the old juke box. I know all the WWII vets have some kind of memory of europe and some of the gals there.

Always loved this song since I was stationed in Wurtzburgh, in the 60's. My friends Mac Sullivan, and Freddy, the German Cowboy used to sing this at their respective country western clubs in the 80/90's. I think Teddy, and Doyle Wilburn had an up beat version of this song on their old TV show led by the great guitar riffs of Jimmy Capps. It had a driving beat, that had Teddy swaying to the beats of the band.

Time Jumpers ar a great group of players. They all seem so coooool! also great musicains. I wish they would allow the longer guitar breaks. Andy is never in the high lite but barely visible in the corner. he is an awesome player alright

Rodney tells a story about singing this in Holland. He is not quite on pitch on some of this, but his heart is in the right place.

Lawton Williams' classic, not a bad job but Bobby Helms still the best version. This song made it around the world. I've heard it sung in Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Kenya, Nigeria, and more. Have seen and heard recorded versions by singers from at least 15 countries.
