Hi Alex, thanks for the review. What a great looking tight you are wearing, which brand is it? related to the shoes i have 2 questions, the fact that the carbon plate and midsole are not one with the outsole, is it able to transmit the rebound to the outside structure or do you think some will get lost in between the midsole and outsole? did you test the Inov-8 TrailFly Ultra G 300 Max? it would be interesting to see how do they compare
Hi Masimo! No i did not run in the Inov-8 TrailFly Ultra G 300 Max but I agree this would be a nice comparison. Unfortunately for now at least I'm not reviewing as many trail shoes as I'd like to. The shape of the midsole is absolutely perfect and it fits like a glove in the shoe so therefore I don't think you're loosing any energy to be honest. But good question :-)
Great review, the shoe is pretty spectacular. Didn't you feel the weight to be an issue? Seems to be on a heavier side.
It’s 10.3oz for a size 9. Actually on lighter side when comparing to many of the most popular trail models.
First, great video as always, second the fit is a masters class in design, innovation and understanding how really great lockdown works. Having said that, $375 is 🤪. If the shoe would come with different inserts for different purposes say like 2-3 different inserts then I would buy it as your buying a running system. In its current setup it’s a hard pass for me because of the price. They could do it better by offering a system. I don’t think you have that right now as you can only take the plate in or out. That’s not enough to justify the price. Anyway if they continue to innovate and move towards running system I’m all in. Thanks
I agree that they're so close from actually taking on board so many runners that are interested in great features and next level fit but for whom that price tag is just not reasonable (and it's not). One or two more years of such work and they'll earn their solid place in the market. And I really wish they do, and I also really wish you end up trying their products because it's also a pleasure just as a connoisseur like you! Thank you Alex for your review on this model. The midsole and upper look very interesting, but i'm not quite sure If this Boa lock system is working with a trail shoe. Think you collect either things or in rocky areas destroy it.
....and to expensive to try, so i stay with Fuji Lite2 and Torrent 2.

hi there! No these are really two different shoes and they cover very different purposes. The SG will be the fiercest competitor against the current Pulsar (because it adresses the one and only flaw of the OG Pulsar I think).
So you can take the midsole out? And make different combination? Plated or otherwise?

Wow. A shoe heavier and more expensive than the one I ran this morning. 😂
I love the innovation, I love the style and I love the sound of this shoe. I would really love to run my trail routes in it because it would be amazing. But $375 is a hard no from me.
Hopefully economies of scale kick in as they grow as a brand and their shoes become more affordable.

Hi Andy, heavy yes but in line with most trail shoes out there offering similar features (although no trail shoe really offers what the Speedland does but you get the idea). As for the price, yes let's hope economies of scale happen because I'd love to see this shoe gaining popularity among runners :-)
At long last, Alex, you 're probably the first tester in Europe to test this exquisite trail running shoe. I have been watching the steps of this innovative shoe company since day one and I really chaffe at the bit to set foot on a pair of these. As regards the 'prickly' matter of the price, I fully agree with your remark on the cost of innovation and the difference between a pair of shoes and a piece of 'equipment'. The versatile character of these, allowing the runner to use them both on smooth and on very technical trails irrespective the circumstances, along with the first class materials (I have only praising words to say about the dyneema upper of my Norda shoes...) fully justify the price in my understanding. I am really anxious to buying a pair, but, to my best knowledge, these are not at the moment available to the European market. Quel dommage!

@@AlexFilitti Hi Alex, I bought the Norda shoes from ARYStore, Germany, for 259 euros with the hope that they would fit my relatively wide feet. Fortunatelly, I had no sizing issues, propably because the dyneema upper is one-piece, without any seams or any sort of exo-skeleton to produce friction while locking the foot down. The overall quality is superb, the Vibram midsole offers adequate (but not plush, which personally I like) cushioning and the outsole is one of the grippiest out there. I do like a lot the laces and the lacing. The shoes deliver superbly on smooth trails, but also on technical, rocky paths in the craggy woodlands around my home city, Thessaloniki. I do not share the critics of some reviewers as regards the alleged warming effect of the dyneema upper. I usually run wearing merino shocks and, considering I live and run in a south-European country, Greece, I have not faced any such issues up to now. However, I would like the shoes to offer a little more padding around the heel so much so that they better support the ankles while running in demanding terrain.
Sounds/looks amazing, would love to get a pair, the only point is as you stated about the weight, how come you don’t feel the « real » weight of the shoe ? I mean it is almost double the weight of the pulsar ! PS: La Sportiva have the similar lockdown system btw since years.

@@daviddombrow842 Still remains one of the heaviest Trail shoes (compared to any Hoka or Salomon)
@@AzizHaddad check the weight on Speedgoat… it’s about the right weight, not just light weight. If you really want to save weight you can cut the lugs, takes it into the 9’s. Go even lighter and remove the plate. All about being able to tune for the trail.
Hi Aziz. Pulsar was given as a comparison point since it's the lightest trail shoe I tried but I agree with David here, the weight is pretty much in line with comparable shoes indeed. It rides lighter than the number because of the pebax midsole I believe. You have the impression of a lighter shoe and the fact it doesn't have a super wide platform also tricks your brain and makes you think it's way lighter :-)
If they made road shoes and sell in Europe I will definitely buy.
Selling in the EU should happen I believe but road shoes...I don't think so. Their DNA is really trail running!
Super interesting shoe for sure but not doable for me, almost two Next%s.
Incidentally ran a Trail Race today in the Next% as I don' t have any trail shoes. I survived but wouldn' t recommend. Lots of sliding around haha

Hi Robin. I believe you're referring to the price of two Next%s (discounted though)? Some of those custom Next% have those waffled/lugged outsole which may work better. I also did a XC race in a pair of Next% but I regretted it tbh. I think I may try the Speedland for a XC race and see how it goes
