I personally won't be buying an Aptera because the vehicle's design doesn't cater to all my needs, BUT... I really love everything that this vehicle stands for! I hate it when people act childish in the comment section because of their inferior thought process of "If this product isn't for me, then this isn't for anyone!"
Equally enraging is "This works for me, so you have no excuse not to get one", or "I drove across your state once, so EV charging will be no problem for you".
It looks good, it would suit me well, it just is not a product to make a business around. The market for two seat unique looking EVs is finite, and there just is no second Aptera model, right? There will never be an Aptera SUV or truck or sports car or four door sedan, right? Once the people who want an Aptera have one, that is it. Maybe that is a lot of people, it doesn't matter, if they have an Aptera they will not buy from the company again. So you have an EV that is affordable, so low margins, and you need to have high volume production to break even or make profits, and maybe you can sell 200,000 a year and make a little profit for a bit, but then you will run out of buyers eventually and be done for. On top of that, Tesla will have their affordable EV coming for the same price or less with four seats and a lot more tech and features. Sure, never charge, great, a lot of people will take the Tesla even if they have to drive somewhere to get charged.
@@1voluntaryist uhm, no. Lots of other things were said about Tesla, no one ever said that Tesla would not be able to make various models of EVs. Tesla announced the Model S in 2009, having only made less than a thousand Roadsters. Lots of people have called every model Tesla says they will make "vaporware," but that is very different than noting that the whole design philosophy and selling point of Aptera cannot be applied to different kinds of EVs. Good car, nice people trying hard, might even be a car I end up buying, but not a viable business in the end.
I am a rancher and have a F250 and I cry every time I go to the gas pump. I love the idea that we could have a car that runs on the New Mexico sun. I ride my bike to work, instead of spending 30 cents each mile on gas. My hat is off to Aptera for trying to produce this vehicle.
Could you not go to work on your horse? My thought is: get a nice car but use an e bike for short journeys. Problem is, over here the Government taxes big cars like you'll be using them all the time.
I see this as the same as complaints across the internet the day after the Jay Leno Aptera review, complaining loudly about wobbly wheel pants on the Alpha model. It was an issue, up until it got fixed, and then it just wasn't a problem anymore. Today that issue is all but forgotten. Similarly, the CNBC Gamma prototype demo will be forgotten once the production-intent, Delta model (which has all of the systems functional) is shown, tested and reviewed later this year. Delta is what I'm really looking forward to seeing. And that is where Aptera needs to be spending their money, to bring my favorite EV into production in 2024. 🚗🌞
Elon has opened his patents up to all for free to stimulate competition because he believes in the EV. He visited Aptera and offered to let it use his chargers years ago.
preach it BROTHER!!! glad to see somebody sooooo passionate and knowledgeable talking down the morons and idiots!! the people you are talking about are CLEARLY idiots, morons, ignorant, or just plain TROLLS. KEEP UP THE GREAT usual content. I'm hoping that someday my sizable investment in them will have me laughing as I wave and drive by all the critics. 🤣 go suck it Aptera haters!
That's all true, but if they knew the coolant system wasn't hooked it up it was pretty idiotic to let it be driven up hills on a record hot day on a program that would be broadcast nationally. You'd think they'd have thought that through and how bad the optics would be of it overheating.
@TailosiveEV and don't forget that the Aptera can add 13 miles of range on a 120v level 1 outlet if that's all you have which is faster than every other EV on a level 1 charger. I'm looking forward to getting my Aptera 600-mile range version with off-road capability. It's going to stay in the garage so charging 40 miles on a perfect sunny 8-hour day will only happen when I'm parked outside somewhere.
I agree. That is an incredible spec that doesn’t get any play. A regular extension cord for additional 160 mpd! And likely not “best case” like the claimed 40 mpd on Solar.
Solar panels are pretty good against hail. I have standard solar panels bolted to a rack on my van and I’ve seen 1” hail stones bounce off in a million pieces. Tempered glass ftw. I mean, go to a hail sale and check the damage. Sunroofs are usually good, since they’re tempered. Also, dumb kids throw fly ball rocks at my panels sometimes and they bounce off. I come out and stare them down with some “persuasion”. I never see the same kid do it again. As far as tree limbs, aren’t you going to insure your Aptera with comprehensive? If anything happens, it can be repaired or replaced for only like $20 extra per month in most states with a $0 deductible. I’d pay the $20 for insurance and not have to pay that $20 (or more) for the monthly electricity to charge it.
It makes me wonder if some people want this car to fail. I'm not worried about the Aptera going up hill. The autocycle looks awesome! ✅ - Right-to-repair ✅ - 350 MPG equivalent ✅ - Quick acceleration ✅ - Off-grid solar charging ✅ - Charging Port! ✅ - Doors that go like this ↕ / Not like this ↔ I still haven't decided what to do about the Aptera. It checks a lot of boxes - except price. It's kinda expensive (at least at first) for a two-seater. If it qualified for the $7500 tax credit, then it suddenly becomes very competitive. Why is the Aptera so much more expensive than something from Wink Motors? Is the difference between 35 MPH and 65 MPH really double or triple the price? (The 400 mile range is a big expense. Too bad there isn't a 125 mile range version. If it could be just a commuter car, or groceries fetcher, then perhaps such a big battery isn't necessary… or maybe the battery could be upgradable later.) Also, the SUV thing is mainly about families. If this is just a drive your Aptera to work and back, it's outstanding. But what happens if you need to pickup a kid at school, or drive a toddler to Grandma's because your other car broke down? It looks like child seats are a problem for the Aptera. …and don't tempt me about making my own electric vehicle though. I have been considering it. 😄
I understand your thought process but a car isn't for everyone, I had a Ford mustang but I had to sell it when we were getting ready to start our family as it didn't fit carseats in the back. Yeah an aptera wouldn't work for me where I currently am as we have a 2 car driveway and a third car would eat I to our vacation money... but there are plenty of people in our neighborhood with a 3rd car where the third car is a commuter or the the play car depending on which way you look at it. And a good mix of those third cars are small 2 seaters or basically 2 seaters. For me once the kids are grown and maybe out of the house, owning this car is on my to-do list, so I still have a decade for them to get going on production. As for the price, it starts less then a Mazda miata and other 2 seaters so it's price isn't actually that crazy... unless your saying that all car prices are crazy... which I wouldn't disagree with.
@@benjamindbarr I miss having a Mustang. Unfortunately, it started rusting pretty bad. It felt not so safe. Otherwise, I'd probably still have it. Perhaps that's what I'm really waiting for… a proper Electric Mustang. But, car prices are crazy - especially Ford's electric vehicles. It's also the name “Aptera”. I looked up the meaning… landed on Wikipedia… and… ick. 😄
I am very supportive of Aptera even if some feel I am not. Aptera did an incredible job of turning the lack of DCFC into a media turnaround that did and incredible job in getting the word out. Chris and Steve listened to us and in 3 days reversed their stand on the DCFC capability in LE and decided to include it. Really great job in turning a negative into a positive thing. The NBC interview could have be another turn a negative into a positive but they did not do that. A gamma prototype by definition is in the final stages of testing. The Gamma vehicle was said to have a 42kWh battery and while the body construction and even shape is a bit different than Delta, it was presented as a more complete vehicle then the Alpha vehicles. While they can say they rushed putting Gamma together for Fully Charged in 2022, they had indicated that a gamma vehicle would be seen as early as July 1, not September. Aptera has said that they are retrofitting Gamma to be more production like. Well if that is the case, let's see it climb hills both slow on hot days and fast on hot days. Sure we can wait until December for Delta but you are not likely to have the same heat as they had in late July. Now I truly believe that Aptera can easily go up a hill in hot and cold conditions, both slow and fast but perception is incredibly important at this stage of their development. Had they taken Gamma and retrofitted it to be a real gamma vehicle and had someone outside Aptera drive it in hot conditions with the AC on to showcase the skin cooling, that would have be awesome. While that might still happen and I truly hope it does sooner than later, the opportunity has sailed and we are still talking about the NBC interview and not turning this into a positive media experience. Stuff happens in interviews or presentations. I really know that as I have had my share of oh sh!t that wasn't to happen moments but it is not the fall but how fast you get up and correct things that is important. It is taking a negative moment and making it a positive opportunity that we were looking for. Instead, very little has been said by Aptera and it was not made into a positive experience. I really wish I could say, yes, the Gamma overheated in the NBC interview but did you see how quickly they completed their gamma vehicle as a real gamma vehicle and went cruising up that hill in 100F heat? Opportunities make and break companies. I am hoping my investment was not wasted, not because it overheated but because they failed to turn this around and get the investment money that is needed to go into production.
When i was growing up, i was told by many people that i had a great mind. they may have said this primarily because i asked a lot of questions about everything i saw, and everything i didn’t see, but was equally interested in understanding the seen and unseen. i was also simultaneously told that having a great mind is useless, if it is not used in a way that contributes to humanity. as a young child i was very interested in understanding these most important thoughts, that were consistently being shared with me. it seems to me, that anyone that chooses to use their great mind, to put down innovation, could be said to not be using their mind, in a contributory to humanity, way. i know that we each want to build a better world for ourselves, and equally, for others. i think your video may help remind everyone, that in a way, we all have similar goals. to contribute, to build, to make, to share. what shall we create today!
Big appreciation for you Tailosive EV and your defense of the positivity (Aptera) against mindless negatively. You probably already instinctively know something so obvious that its not worth mentioning. But given the mindset and education level of the haters, maybe it's worth this time, to mention the obvious: basic Physics and Econ 101. Within few years, these haters will buy their 6,000-9,000 pound EV's, each requiring daily 300kWh cable-melting charging. These ubiquitous "Amp Hogs" will cause the price of grid electricity to skyrocket, cause frequent brown-outs and blackouts, electricity rationing, and curfew times. To believe that the grid will be able to keep up with the spike in demand is delusional. In a few years, EV's like the F150EV, Hummer EV, or even a Mustang EV will be too costly to charge, too impractical to run, and will have nearly zero resale value. They'll be parked outside to rot in the sun instead of using the sun's power for actual transportation. Their owners will only be able to use them as sitting benches to have snacks or lunch while watching solar-powered Apteras drive by.
This. I've been banging on about how pointless monster ev's are for years. One, you need a e concept that the little guy can afford. Two, it won't save a planet unless we all get one, clearly most people can't afford a Tesla, at least at the price they need to charge to give their investors a decent return.
All those hopping on the bandwagon of how the Aptera didn't do this or didn't do that, are proving once again how mindless, robotic and unoriginal they are. They are incapable of viewing the facts and recognizing the timeframe required to engineer/design and actually build a manufacturable innovative vehicle like Aptera. It's way to easy for these naysayers to sign up to the mindless parade of naysayers who wouldn't know or understand true innovation if they tripped over it. Bugs and hiccups on the way to true novel invention are the norm, NOT the exception. These are good things for Aptera engineers to see and understand. That will make for an exceptional peoples' car once production begins.
….and this is why certain companies only show certain aspects of the product and place embargo’s of what can be shown. Something in development isn’t fully functional and everyone goes nuts.
Huge EV fan here. I know someone looking forward to getting their Aptera. I agree that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it, but also strongly support the First Amendment. Haters gonna hate.
@@austinpowers1999 Roof crush testing was done in the first iteration of the company, and the results were not only great, but were the highest ever tested. Computer simulation of today's vehicle is also off the charts. I am very much looking forward to the crash tests!!
I drive a velomobile called quatrevelo.... that is environmentally friendly... most people do not live in desert states or have a parking spot with sunshine. it still got a battery...
You should probably reserve your barbs for the dude who commutes 50miles each way from his 5000 sq ft spread in his Model 3 Plaid, boasting of his eco credentials coz of roof top solar.
@dougandersen645 I'm a reservation holder, but they don't have prototypes that actually have the solar working the cooling system fully connected, or the production (Launch Edition) battery pack installed. They need some real world test results.
That's kind of a hollow statement, since they are in the process of doing exactly that. Tesla's have proven they have a high failure rate. Just because something has been around longer, doesn't make it better.
You're spot on with Aptera's incredible refreshing willingness to talk/share with anyone and everyone who genuinely wants to know about their ultra-disruptive product. Rocking the EV automotive industry (heck, they're challenging hundred of years transportation presumptions at that), one expects a fair share of "feathers" to get ruffled in the process. Thank you for yet another finely articulated righteous rant Drew. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for making this video! When i was growing up, i always dreamed of seeing cars like the aptera motors car, on the roads everywhere, everyday. it is heartbreaking to learn that the auto industry seems to have no interest in actually making (available for purchase, not just concept cars that are never available for purchase) vehicles that utilize the vast knowledge and wisdom that humanity the world over, has accumulated in the areas of aerodynamics, and solar charging batteries. aptera motors is a dream come true, and i hope with all of my heart and mind, that this company succeeds in the biggest way, here to stay, as a permanent resident of innovation in automobiles, being delivered to the doorsteps of humanity!
I love Aptera, and wish them the best, and I am sick of the FUDster media analysts and haters who don't have a clue or do their homework and only look for reasons to trash this futuristic and awesome product. They will have an awesome vehicle and I am confident that NBC will regret their negative reaction to the gamma prototype vehicle tested that had an unfortunate issue that is not really going to be an issue in finished product. If Sandy Munro is advising them they will succeed.
I agree with you 100% that there should be zero gripe about the existence of a cosmetic prototype with limited performance. And, folks whining about this are unreachable. The real issue isn't that a prototype like this exists or even that it gets shown off, its that they let it be driven under conditions they didn't control on what was probably their first really big opportunity to reach a mass audience that isn't on a tech/EV specific channel. I want Aptera to exist and be successful. Unlike Tesla with the CyberSmash or Apple with the failed charging base, Aptera isn't already a household name. They don't have a history of successful product launches or a revenue stream of any kind. There's no reputation of past execution or performance to help folks give them a pass. Aptera is at a crucial point where they need more funding to launch and every potential and current investor who's able to look at this objectively suddenly got cold feet when that video aired. Not because Aptera is failing to execute on design and engineering, but because they appeared to be failing at these on their first big stage... first impressions for millions of people, were "that car can't climb a hill" and investors see their impressions. Aptera has to run a tight ship on both the technical side and the PR side, or they won't thread the needle. This looked sloppy. So, rather than use your platform like this to address the masses of morons who aren't along of the journey anyway, I'd like to see you use your influence at Aptera to say, "Hey WTF?!? Get your shit together because you've got potential."
Really well done and said Drew, thank you for posting this video!! We are all sick of these couple of folks who write their Aptera opinions as fact, and when you point it out, they complain that they don't have the time to do the homework. Turns out they do have time enough to make long false narrative videos against Aptera though. Hmm... the situation seems to explain itself! If you don't have the time to do the homework, you forfeit your right to a loud and negative opinion. Nobody in the community is pushing Aptera on anyone! It is often the case of pessimistic people who need to argue just for arguments sake. I feel sorry for them and the small, shallow, negative lives they choose to lead.
As a former Automotive technician, this is a godsend meaning, I won't have to do no more tune-ups, no more oil changes, no more drive shaft replacements. No more transmission fluid changes, no more CO2 EMISSIONS. Its 99% maintenance free!
Tesla didn’t plan on the 2008 market crash but did pay back that government loan in full. The model 3 highland will be priced under $30k. I like Aptera 👍
Excellent video, Drew! I couldn't care less about other people trying to make my choice for me simply because it's not their choice. I'm looking forward to mine (UK).
Aptera seems like it’d be a great vehicle to have here in the UK, could really work well in places like London etc. hope you manage to eventually get a delivery!
@@Murzi10Thanks - I reckon mid '25 is a fair estimate for RHD EU/UK spec, once the regulatory niggles are sorted through, hopefully from an EU production facility that might be in the same place in Italy where the carbon fibre body structure is made. It would solve a lot of the charging problems for folks with no driveway! Realistically, UK would get 5-25 miles a day from solar since we have more variance from summer to winter than southern California. Things that aren't so good for London - it's actually quite big, with the road footprint not really any smaller than a Tesla, plus the width across the front wheel covers is like a Range Rover, and the latest prototype still has a turning circle wider than most cars (production model should be better, though the current wheel cover design stops very tight turns).
I had a solo it was recalled. but I will buy an Aptera.I would kept the solo if i could have been able to get parts even with the loss of the warranty.
Bravo! Great editorial! Aptera is designing the type of vehicle we should ALL be driving in the future. Focused on efficiency, requiring less battery capacity to go the distance + enough efficiency for solar charging to actually make a realistic difference. Thank you for your great comments.
Well said Tail, the best car to date: affordable, forward thinking, efficient, carbon fiber strength, simple, etc etc etc. People freak out it’s a 2-seater. Yet most of us drive alone and have two cars.
Last week's Huntington Beach US Open of Surfing was the first time I got to see the Gamma in person. The first thing I did was to get shots of the in-wheel motors (the wheel-pants inner covers were removed). Indeed the coolant hose connections were not connected to anything. It was also apparent that the Gamma's Elaphe motor is similar (if not the same as the Beta's and Alpha's (and not the new smaller/lighter and cooler running Delta/Production model. You are likely spot-on in saying that Aptera is channeling all resources towards production instead of trying to make the Gamma prototype into a production ready vehicle. Aptera probably assumed that rational people would realize that the Beta, with its makeshift tiny radiator, was able to blast around all day with drag strip/high speed desert runs, moose test slalom tire runs and suspension testing runs would be enough proof of the Aptera's motor cooling system viability. The present commotion about the recent overheating events, then is really more a commentary about the people causing the commotion, rather than about the Aptera.
I love this channel for so many reasons, but one of them is this exact vibe. Keep up the good work! I won't be buying an Aptera unless my wife changes her mind about "the look." (She would rather not stand out in a crowd) But I love everything about it, especially the integrity and stamina of the team that's bringing it to the market.
Love your common sense, seems that common sense is so uncommon that they had to invent Artificial Intelligence. But I am old and have reality as a friend. "These people are genius!" As investor I think you are on to something, I agree with you, and love the efficiency, and bleeding edge engineering that Aptera has focused on. The company is very open to show the path, it is on, and today that seems rare, and should be cheered not booed. Thank you for your take, and I agree with you. If in wheel motors were in doubt, why then did Mercedes Benz buy out YASA? Maybe Aptera will acquire Elaphe after they begin selling cars....
They could and probably are doing elictric load run testing in a oven with intro red lights similar to holding heat from the sun, running. I personally am glad Aptera is going to most likely make some cooling friendly diy and lasting programming and heating and cooling lasting employments.
The second biggest problem Aptera faces is that there are over fifty EV models available in the US RIGHT NOW and quite a few can be had for less than forty thousand before tax credit and some are close to forty thousand after credit. The Aptera LE price is not guaranteed and Aptera management has consistently dodged that question when put to them, they did state that other companies had to raise prices and costs , read that for what you will The copium is hilariously strong, almost as much hyperbole is piled on as well. All comparisons to Tesla are pure denial. Tesla had a proven path to production that the US government and others saw along with the fact they were the first to the EV market with an ICE equivalent. If Tesla had gone under it is likely we would still not have the EV market we have today. The market is over a decade old now so Aptera has no excuse and is not comparable. People are not constantly bringing up the failed demo on NBC... there are far more real concerns than that. There original Accelerate Program expectations were for the the 2000 slots and funding to run out so quick they set a deadline to drum up excitement and it turned out completely the opposite. They have had to keep the program open, now restricted to Accredited Investors after a SEC smack down, and its doubtful they would ever fill all the slots. Lets have some undeniable facts. They recently ended their lease to their Vista facility, their largest facility where they were building their solar components. So they spent a little over twelve months in Vista at 160k rent per month plus taxes plus maintenance plus utilities let alone all the equipment rentals and such for that location was WASTED. They do not have a battery supplier secured and do not expect production intent battery packs until February or March of 2024. They have missed every stated production date made to this date where they knew damn well they could never make production; this includes stating twice that they would have a production vehicle before the end of 2023! They did not even have it RENDERED until the last day of the year and even then it was not completely rendered. They showed off the molds back in February and again at CPC in May 2023. We have not seen these molds fitted for the presses or sample and or validation press body components. About the Gamma prototype overheating, a prototype they have had for nearly a year, a prototype they bragged about, a prototype they were late in delivering in 2022, and yet, they still sent it out on a day it could not function properly. Here is the real problem, either they were so incompetent they didn't know it would fail on a hot day or they were so desperate for big media exposure they knowingly took the risk. A competent company would have a vehicle known to work in all temperatures available for these demonstrations
People who dare to think new thoughts, throw everything up in the air and come up with a completely new solution deserve respect. The Aptera is a really interesting project. It may not be for everyone but it does come up with something fresh and potentially important to play a part in humanity's transition to renewable energy. And it's beautiful. Will they ever release the product to the market? I don't know but I sure hope so. And I might even buy one if they are marketed in Europe.
People who want a solar vehicle, people who want a sporty & efficient 2 seater & people who want the most futuristic looking car will want Aptera. Price is low enough that middle class couples might see this as an affordable commute car. Rising energy prices and high cost of DC fast charging help Aptera, but they will still be working through their reservation list in 2025 when the first Tesla next gen arrives. Even if it starts at $32,500, it has a tax credit. If Aptera can qualify, they can compete.
According to Chatgpt, 1000 mile range of an Aptera is achieved only if you go 20 mph. You get 300 mile range when you travel at 70 mph. Say it ain't so.
@@TailosiveEV I asked Chat gpt:. The specific speed of 20 mph for achieving the Aptera's 1,000-mile range comes from data provided by Aptera itself or from sources closely related to the company and its efficiency tests. Aptera's design, with its low drag coefficient and lightweight structure, enables it to reach such impressive range figures at lower speeds. This information is often detailed in Aptera's technical documentation, official communications, or from knowledgeable insiders who have access to their testing results.
@@TailosiveEV I asked Chat gpt if this applied to Aptera's new larger cell: Yes, the 1,000-mile range estimate for Aptera's vehicle is based on the use of a larger battery pack, and achieving this range under ideal conditions would still require driving at a lower, optimal speed (around 20 mph). The larger battery pack is designed to store more energy, enabling longer distances between charges, but the same principles of energy consumption and efficiency apply. Even with the larger battery cells, factors like aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, and overall efficiency play significant roles in determining the range. Driving at higher speeds would still reduce the effective range, even with the increased capacity of the larger battery pack. The optimal speed to maximize the range remains low to minimize energy use and make the most of the battery's capacity.
Aptera, when it has a vehicle ready, go and drive it around San Francisco for a day in summer. That would fix that issue. On another note, i have a reservation and im from Australia. I know it wont be an autocycle as theres no sych class. I also expect the insurance industry here will classify it as a sports car (due to being a 2 door vehicle) so that will increase its running costs but im hoping the solar witll off set the insurance costs.
True, but Tesla would probably prefer the competition... I would not be surprised if Tesla invests in Aptera to keep it from going broke while going through "production hell", but then sells off those shares bit by bit (at a profit) once Aptera-the-company is rolling along well.
Solar cells, battery storage, efficiency etc are all only going to get better over time. The world is now focused on developing these things. If one car is produced that runs on sunlight. The clock is ticking on to the day that all cars will.
It had one failure. That was caused by incompetence. The 90% production ready gamma still not having the cooling system hooked up after months during one of their best chances to show up in front of normies and draw more positive attention ended in complete failure. I certainly hope aptera makes it to production and is as amazing as the claims, but I'm definitely not going to switch to the models coming first without seeing any reliability reviews and how aptera handles it.
Aptera has done so. And there are three cooling systems in the vehicle. I signed an NDA when I visited the factory, and can not talk about more than has been publicly revealed, but I have extensive experience in thermal engineering, including designing and helping to build a samples freezer for the ISS. I have no basic concerns about the cooling. We know FAR more about it than we do about the Cybertruck system, for just one example. Once all the IP is in place we will know much more detail.
Good video but don't say "That's fine" when describing a person driving around in an F150 with all the other seats empty. That is what is wrong with our way of thinking about things where everyone else is responsible for climate change but not me attitude. Aptera rocks and can't wait to see them on the road. Now I know what Chris Elliot's younger brothet is doing.
I agree. Disparaging people who fall for the hype distributed by large corporations does nothing to help Aptera and is the kind of thing that divides our country. People need education, not scolding. APTERA ROCKS!
I'm waiting till they make production and have a year in customers' hands before I take the plunge to see how it works out. Till then I hold out with my 12 year old Leaf, no rush.
I am cheering on Aptera, but to compare TSLA and Aptera is not as logical to me. Tesla had been producing vehicles for many years before that period when the Model 3 was going into production, Musk was calling Apple and they were not answering, but it also turned out there was more money out there for Tesla if they really had needed it. I have run across a few stories saying Musk overstated how close Tesla was to being done. Aptera sadly has gone bankrupt before. They still have not produced their first customers cars. On top of that, they are pushing a product that is very different. Most people will just look at an Aptera and freak out. They will not take the time to learn who was helping with the design, what progress the have made, using consultants like Sandy Munro, and so on, makes Aptera not appealing. That makes getting investors harder. I was disappointed with the two seat package. That takes out a chunk of the market, including me. It was very sad to see the vehicle cutout during the NBC drive. Yes, that was blood in the water for the haters. We all know EV haters and they love going in and crapping on any forums where people are happy about EVs. As far as Faraday, that is not the Faraday we saw years ago. They had to use or wanted to use the SPAC, just like Lucid and others. You are right the Aptera leadership seems very passionate and they seem to be trying to be transparent or as transparent as possible. I would not put them in the Nikola Motors or Lordstown group. I still cannot believe Nikola was allowed to continue operations, because what they did was done by a group at Nikola, not just the CEO. Point is, Aptera is doing something that will likely change the way many people think of transportation. When you say three wheel vehicle, most people have low opinions and I do believe Aptera will change that. Solar charging on vehicles is the holy grail in the EV space. If real world solar charging on vehicles truly worked reliably and for many years, that will kill off so many of nay sayers. Maybe what Aptera has learned can be licensed to Tesla if it is truly unique. That would generate some badly needed funds. Haters are going to hate. Aptera just needs to be very careful about these media events. Watching an Aptera ripping around the field at the Tesla Takeover with Kyle from Out -of-Spec in it would show anyone concerned that Aptera cannot go up hills. About 45 minutes in on this video is when that happens. ruclips.net/video/RE2O2fQh3rQ/видео.html
I’m in line to get one but living in Las Vegas I am concerned that Aptera has not proven with a long trip in hot weather just a close breezy trip to the beach next to them does not prove it can handle hills in long hot days . Can Aptera Please prove it’s ability hopefully really durable and capable ? That would shut everyone up
@@johnhayes3314 Tesla and Apple are household names with proven track records and robust revenue streams. Aptera has neither... I'm a fan of Aptera, but this was just plain sloppy. And you'd better believe that crucial investors are paying attention to how this gets perceived.
This really goes to haters of anything new/innovative. There will unfortunately always be people who think that just because they personally dont like it or will not benefit from it, then it shouldnt exist and everyone who wants it to exist is dumb. "Main character syndrome"; thinking the world should only cater to them and no one else.
How much lost life is expected for the hub motors since they are unsprung-weight; they get all of the vibration? Can Aptera still get you down the road if one of the hub motors fails is some way to spin?
I am really looking forward to the Aptera coming out and, I have a down payment on one for reservation. I know you have driven them in person, can you please tell me, does the split window cause a blind spot for the driver?
Thank you for defending Aptera. There will always be trolls on the internet. They seem to get a kick out of condemning everything posted. I wonder if many of them are Russians? Is it possible to update this report with the video Aptera made after installing the cooling lines? It absolutely proves what you say.
A few thousand people watching the Aptera Owner's Club. Not even 10s of thousands of views. Suspect the reservations aren't too motivated. Car company that can't be bothered to connect necessary operating company. It's different than not quite enough cooling that failed in a demo. The only thing that matters is safety, miles/kWh, kWh/day. They have never demonstrated any of those. How do you explain early 2021 saying they would deliver in late 2021? Then in 2023 they don't have cooling?
Unwavering adoration is just as bad as mindless hate. If one can’t objectively find faults pertaining to the Aptera vehicle or company, then how can their words be trusted when it comes time for an in-depth review. I for one am still perplexed as to why they wasted time and money designing the yoke when a normal steering wheel was more than sufficient. Tesla offers a yoke as an option for $250, but they’re an established multibillion dollar company. How much more will it cost Aptera?
@@NahM8 Baloney! I can't have the tilt steering where I want it in my truck because the top of the wheel blocks the instrument cluster... it's an issue every time I drive!!
Display behind circular steering wheel is a problem for very short or very tall drivers in some vehicles. Just like almost everything in an Aptera, Aptera is designed to be better.
I just think the Aptera is too expensive for what it is. If it could get the federal tax credit, that would change everything. Otherwise, they need the power of economies of scale to get costs down
I hope Aptera succeeds. At the same time, I'm incredibly skeptical that anyone will ever get 11,000 miles of free charging per year in any kind of normal use. I hope it does, and I'll believe it when I see it. ...and brother man... calm down. You sound really exasperated and personally insulted that there are idiots out there saying something stupid. Take a breath.
I think you might be paying too much attention to the haters. I haven't heard any of the hate, only the reaction to the haters. The clip was clearly described as a a prototype. No worries.
I personally won't be buying an Aptera because the vehicle's design doesn't cater to all my needs, BUT... I really love everything that this vehicle stands for! I hate it when people act childish in the comment section because of their inferior thought process of "If this product isn't for me, then this isn't for anyone!"
Fair... I will because a EV sports car (don't car about solar) is what I want, Aptara has a place. Other EVs do also.
@@tribalypredisposed Everything you said about Aptera was said about Tesla once.
@@1voluntaryist uhm, no. Lots of other things were said about Tesla, no one ever said that Tesla would not be able to make various models of EVs. Tesla announced the Model S in 2009, having only made less than a thousand Roadsters. Ha! Something I think but would never say.
The anti-Aptera = Hummer EV
That's all true, but if they knew the coolant system wasn't hooked it up it was pretty idiotic to let it be driven up hills on a record hot day on a program that would be broadcast nationally. You'd think they'd have thought that through and how bad the optics would be of it overheating.
Which could be said for all the beta products he mentioned 🙄
And my understanding is that they had made quite a few runs before that, going up and down the hill to get the proper angles/shots.
That's right let's go Aptera!
That’s the same spec that I have reserved. I live in the boonies without a garage, so mine will be living outside. 😄
Why garage it? Thieves?
@@EricPeelMusic Protection from hail damage, tree limbs that break off in high winds, etc.

I still haven't decided what to do about the Aptera.
If it could be just a commuter car, or groceries fetcher, then perhaps such a big battery isn't necessary… or maybe the battery could be upgradable later.)
Also, the SUV thing is mainly about families.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Aptera to the WORLD!!!! I'm ready for the Aptera work Van. Go Aptera Go!!!
I would think many users could make use of the space behind the seats without it being a van. That shape would also be less efficient.
Mindless negativity? This is national level embarrassment...
Loan, not a bail out, and in Tesla's case it was paid off early with full interest.

I'm not an Aptera hater, however it is a "niche" vehicle as it can't be sold everywhere!
The second biggest problem Aptera faces is that there are over fifty EV models available in the US RIGHT NOW and quite a few can be had for less than forty thousand before tax credit and some are close to forty thousand after credit. The Aptera LE price is not guaranteed and Aptera management has consistently dodged that question when put to them, they did state that other companies had to raise prices and costs , read that for what you will
The copium is hilariously strong, almost as much hyperbole is piled on as well.
GO GET 'EM DREW!!! 🫡
We over exaggerate, very few cares or knows about Aptera. Haven’t heard or seen anything about the “Hill gate” after the first few videos.
Ironically... after I buy an Aptera, I would consider an F150 Lighting as my second car. Assuming money wasn't an issue.
As far as pickup trucks, I think the Canoo is very innovative.
No irony there!
Well said, Drew.
Aptera Solar EV, a beautiful symphonic design, crescendoing into a succession of must-have technology.
According to Chatgpt, 1000 mile range of an Aptera is achieved only if you go 20 mph. You get 300 mile range when you travel at 70 mph. Say it ain't so.
No idea where it got that data from 😂
@@TailosiveEV I asked Chat gpt:.
If this product is demonstrated I can’t believe that Tesla wouldn’t want to purchase it. Everything about Tesla makes it a perfect fit.
If it does get sold to Tesla, I'll pass on it
True, but Tesla would probably prefer the competition...
"maybe you love the hummer ev because you're stupid." hahaha 😂😂 upvoted!!
Pretty sure most of the people hating on it are Tesla stock holders. They want a monolith so their investments make more money, and nothing else.
How many Tesla owners are on the Leaderboard. Some where it was stated
Many..
I’m a Tesla stockholder……and an Aptera stockholder, like many on the list
Aptera, please release a video on the cooling system.
@@n.brucenelson5920 Thank you for this information Bruce.
Great rant! 😊 I have an Aptera Noir reserved. People will love and hate it. I'm still gonna drive mine everywhere.
That would shut everyone up
To be fair they should have been a little more careful going on live TV
So should Tesla and Apple. It’s not a perfect world
@@johnhayes3314 Tesla and Apple are household names with proven track records and robust revenue streams. Aptera has neither... I'm a fan of Aptera, but this was just plain sloppy. And you'd better believe that crucial investors are paying attention to how this gets perceived.
Prove it Aptera... I'm not a hater, that term is stupid. How can you "hate" something not released yet...
Keep in mind, Aptera plans to design and build 4 and 6 person versions down the road, probably 2-4 years down the road, maybe sooner.
I'd like to see Aptera succeed. Have they ever published a projected price point for the vehicle?
Nicely said
“Maybe you really love the Hummer EV or something, because you’re stupid.” 🤣
Not at all, visibility is great
@@TailosiveEV Thank you! I was worried about it.
11:54 Bro... I was drinking at this part... I almost spit water on my screen.
Amen brother.
40,000 x $25,000 = $1,000,000,000
that's 1 billion dollars with a "B"
This will be my second vehicle if I can swing it financially.
Someone took it personally…
I want this car, only issue is, i need to be able to fit two kids in the back. Hopefully that will come down the road.
You’ve made a comment about “Aptera having more reservations than any other EV startup” I think Canoo has more than Aptera. I have one of both.
Canoo (the company) isn't really viable... Their truck concept though is awesome.
@@TecnamTwin why?
The management are either dreamers or know that it's not feasible.
I’m betting they do better than lucid. 😂
Do you even follow the company? The rear view screens would be blocked by a conventional wheel.
@@johnhayes3314having displays behind the wheel has never been a problem.
@@EricPeelMusic I agree!
No worries.
Exactly. But he needs RUclips money, that's why he's making these idiotic videos
If they were not doing something spectacular there wouldn't be any nay-saying opposition right ?
Even those doing the spectacular will have haters
I now regret the $100 dollars I put down for a car that can’t roll down a hill.
Great job!
