Now I'm going to watch the Original Trilogy and then start on the New Jedi Order series right after I finish watching Return of the Jedi. That series is so long that I'll have good Star Wars content for months. Then I'll still have the Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi book series left.
What would have been a cool idea is if these witches were working with a very limited knowledge of the Force, and the jedi were able to bestow on them the full truth and knowledge behind the force (that it's not a string, that it is a force that is all around us and binds us) and give the witches (and the audience) a reason to love and respect the Jedi and validate their existence and mastery of this universal power in the universe. But no, they're going with the moral relativism approach that is so predictable and emblematic of modern immoral hollywood, not to mention giving this commune of witches powers BEYOND what ANY Sith Lord or Jedi Master has ever possessed by giving them the ability to CREATE FUCKING LIFE. What a fucking disaster.

My auntie is part of the LGBTQ community. She lives in Taiwan and we were discussing this episode late at night. I actually didn't mind the witches and the story behind the coven. However, we both agree the logic errors in this episode were confusing and didn't make any sense. I remember watching Return of the Jedi in the theater with her when she lived in the US. I was 9, and scared of the emperor, but we had tons of fun. The words of this show she used were 開玩笑. Which in the context basically means that they are playing around and making a joke out of Star Wars. Well at least they have an Asian Jedi.

Eh, the new concept of the Force is not necessarily a problem. Like many magic systems in other fantasy franchises (which Star Wars definitely counts as), the Force operates largely on faith and subjective perception. You can perceive that the Force is a mystical thread that you can pluck to make things happen, just like you can perceive it to be a river of energy flowing through you that you can guide to make things happen, or you can perceive it as a fire burning in your chest that you stoke and release to affect the real world. How exactly you perceive it matters little in how well it works. Like Yoda taught Luke on Dagobah, belief is what matters. If you believe it is possible, then the Force will make it so. Or at the very least, if you don't believe it's possible, then it definitely won't work. That was the whole point of that exchange between Luke and Yoda after Yoda lifted his X-Wing out of the swamp. Luke said "I don't believe it!", and Yoda responded "That is why you fail." The rest of what they did in the episode was complete crap and terrible writing, but the idea that other Force traditions have wildly different perceptions and beliefs about the Force - yet the Force still works for them - is actually an old idea that is very well supported in the lore of both Legends and Disney Canon.
