    Great job, Steve. Just received mine and you have answered my question about fitting the body to a completed chassis. I'll have to hone my masking skills for the seats as I want an orange interior. As a boy in the '60s I had a few of their 1/32 cars. I particularly remember building the frog-eyed Sprite. Now that's a re-release I'd love to see!

    Hi Steve, looks like you had a ton of fun building that car! Better than the drilling in that finished camo scheme. You convinced me to finally purchase Mr. surfacer. Can you please tell me what respiratory mask to use or send a link of what you would recommend? I’ve only used MM and Vallejo, but am willing to try at least the lacquer primer for now. I do have a tiny booth downstairs and have been using simple filter masks for the acrylics. Since there are so many types of masks, I figured I would ask a professional! Thanks in advance if you can steer me in the right direction on what to purchase.

    • @TheModelShed
      @TheModelShed  Год назад

      I use a 3M half face mask like these: www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/p/c/ppe/respiratory-protection/reusable-respirators/half-mask/
      I also have the extractor on and the windows open if I’m spraying lacquer or 2-pack

    I've seen a notion, among builders of Polar Lights and similar "nostalgia" kits, that one ought not take the kits too seriously, and this would be a good example of building 'competently' but not trying for rivet-counting accuracy.

      @TheModelShed  Год назад

    • @TheModelShed

      Good question Paul. The Reliant company bought out the Bond car company and used the name to market this more modern take on the Reliant models of the time.

  • @johnworts2178
    @johnworts2178 Год назад +1

    Can I ask what psi you sprayed the 2k clear coat. Did you apply a coat of klear coat prior? Only reason for asking is that when I sprayed 2k clear coat on humbtol orange 19 for beach buggy, the clear coat took the shine out of the sprayed orange gloss.

    • @TheModelShed
      @TheModelShed  Год назад +1

      No John the 2k went over the lacquer orange. the tack coat dulled it but the subsequent coats built up the shine. I sprayed it around 12-15psi.

      I grew up thinking it had something to do with 007 but it was just the trade name taken from the Bond motor company. Sean Connery would have looked distinctly uncool swapping his DB5 for one of these.

    Another great build/ video. I am concerned that you used a two part finish without any protection to your skin - not sure about a mask. I have always believed that this stuff, whilst very good result, is very harmful.
