Sound warning timestamps (buzzy cutty thing in fast forward/dental drill)
1:38 - 1:54 cutting from window to below electrical outlets
2:03 - 2:25 cutting along the bottom trim
2:38 - 2:42
thank you for the timestamps ^^'
Dentist nightmare flashbacks!!.,
Thank you for the sound effect heads up!!💛💛
But no warning for his hyena cackle about two minutes in? 😋
Turn the volume off during those times…
You know, you could have just spin kicked those tiles instead of all that cutting.😁
Nah, he would have risked the whole kitchen exploding. 😆
🤣
They could of also bought the right adhesive that would overlay that entire area... Alas whatever works works .. 😊
😂
He had to do it this way because the vast majority of viewers cannot spin kick backsplash tile, and the whole point is to show how we can do it ourselves. Wouldn't be fair if he just spin kicked it.
You’re a really good dad. I love how you and your son work together.
Looked like a fun project until the grout part. 🤢. Looks nice! (my oven backsplash is painted sheetrock). 😂
RIP old backsplash. You were scarred and ugly but we will always be reminded of the little spatters of bacon fat you protected the wall from. You were a quiet, steadfast leader in your hour of fame using skill and nerve to remain firmly in place until the very end, paving the way for the new world in backsplash tiling 💙
I like that you left the audio in of the parts where you interacted with Jason, I thought it was really endearing. I hope all the bleeding hearts who don’t understand your sarcasm and banter see this vid and realize they don’t need to keep commenting about how “mean” you are to your kids-that’s just how they roll, son!! Most of us would *love* to have a dad like Tito Buttdoctor!
Jason’s laughter makes me laugh!
That new backsplash spin kicked the old one right in its face. 😂
They call him lose a thumb Jonny back in Delaware. Hey is that lose a thumb Jonny? I don't know. Throw him tool and see if he loses a thumb. I bet he does .. Hi from Australia 🤘🇦🇺
👍 bwahaha!
Am in Delaware, can confirm. 👍
Watching you wield that hacksaw w/out gloves or a protection cardboard or towel on the cooktop made me go take a Thorazine tab. Love the design - I'll be able to see it better tomorrow when my medication wears off...
😂😂😂
Glad I wasn’t the only one! 😂
Same here
Hahahahahahahahaha🤟
I know, right?
They call me early to video Jenny back in Waxahachie. I commented here 15 minutes after posting, son. That’s how I roll!
😅😅
Also my name is actually Jenny lol. Love the videos, and obviously the commentary. Great job on the backsplash!
Hi early to the video Jenny. I'm lose a thumb Jonny from Delaware 👋
So suck it! And give it a good spin kick too!
I always think there’s not enough artistic laziness in kitchen design, so I’m pleased to see you championing it!
I love that he says it's laziness as he painstakingly cutting all those tiles 😅 that woulda had me putting those in the garage and staring at a half done project for 8 months 😂
Great job. Now Filth can be teaching Baby Filth these skills one of these days! Loved the sound of the mallet tapping in high speed!! 🎉👍🏼
Baby filth wants to tell Fill the crack Johnny the plugs don't match the covers. Baby filth fears the infamous spin kick so he plays it smart.
I'm getting blocked for sure. I'm sorry Mack I got carried away. Mack said hit that. What does that mean mommy?💙
It sounded like a woodpecker!😂
@@gregpendrey6711Haha! It’s funny how things hit different with different people. The outlets not matching the covers is the first thing I noticed. Beautiful tile, and my eye goes straight to the mismatched outlets and covers. Is that a form of OCD or have I had too many spin kicks to the head?
You keep saying butt !
Youre killin' me SKJ....you didnt cover your cooktop ...
"Once you buy a rubber mallet, you will find excuses to rubber mallet things." 1000% agree!
The proper name for the buzzy cutty thing is Thang-A-Ma-Jig. New backsplash looks really nice! ❤
That is so awesome lol.
Hey, I was taught the proper name was Whatchamacallit 😅
I think you have the Thang-A-Ma-Jig confused with the Doohickie.
@@Rye_Toast Good point! They're quite similar, come to think of it. 😅
@@winmarfbd909
Whatcha muh doodle.
I’m convinced we should call it a splash back instead of back splash from this day forward. 🎉
Rubber mallets are also good for putting the kids to sleep at night when they are amped up. 😅
😂😂😂😂
That was my mom's go-to last resort for putting my brothers to sleep🤣🤣
There’s something so wholesome about a father teaching in such a hands on way..to his son…who he calls Filth. 😆😆 I did this same sort of tile job in my bathroom, it’s been four years, and no issues at all. Was easy and saved me tons too👍 Friggin love you guys, hugs to Emily, hope she’s doing well, pet the Bean!
I love how those aluminum tiles reflect the light and make it look like LEDs are inlaid! The whole thing looks awesome!
The LEDs do look inlaid
Beautiful!! ✨Jason has a great dad teaching him new dad skills. 👍Plus, there's nothing more gratifying than hearing the word "nippers" and the sounds of a rapid-fire rubber mallet. My day is complete. 😊
The tile you chose is super cool, even if it was a pain to cut. Also, "as much of an artisitic choice as it was laziness" is how I prefer to work lmao.
The new backsplash looks great, gentlemen! Congratulations to Jason and his wife! 🎉
i added peel and stick metal penny tile for a back splash and omg it looks amazing and so much bigger, looks great..what a difference a backsplash makes . i also did epoxy on the counter to look like marble. love it
You, sir, are a comedian and i love coming to watch your videos! Not only for the cathartic and relaxing cleaning aspect or the sound advice for those of us who are trying to navigate through life with very little guidance, but because as someone who does understand the sarcasm can appreciate you for the humor you give - on purpose or not.
Thank you for being your true authentic self on a platform where that's very uncommon.
I have always wanted more than a painted wall as my backsplash. Very cool!
Same here!
Do it!!
Ditto! Now I may attempt it!
Me too but in 13 years here, I still haven’t gotten around to it.
Love the backsplash! Same one I chose 9 years ago, and I still love it!
Good job, Jason and Mack. Nice to see family working together.
Sarcasm. Noted! 😂ps if I'm in this family we are working against this
Amazing after photos of the bathroom and the music room. All of you did a great job working together. You and your mother are a blessing to the people you help ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I enjoy how you know when to make jokes and when to give serious helpful instructions. It's a good balance.
Mr. Porkburger, I find your sense of humor infanTILE.
I like watching you and Jason work together. Great job. Looks great.
I think you enjoy ticking the tile guys off😂😂😂
😂 😂
On the other hand, it might be hard to find a reputable tile guy to do a job that small. 🤷♀️😁
Greetings Professor Porkburger ✌🧐 We're here to learn your ways. Much respect and gratitude, kind Sir. ☮
❤Great job, guys! You made me realize that part of what makes the kitchen in the relative's house I need to fix up & rent or sell, look dated, is the no backsplash. If I'm going to rent it out, I don't want to invest in tile that will be dated by the time I sell. I was thinking a big piece of plexiglass, but then realized your tiles went on a board that was screwed to the wall. I could always leave the screws visible but unnoticible, and remove the board to replace it and the tile if we go to sell it later.
It's such a small space, I could probably find enough on the clearance rack or at a construction salvage/reuse place.
get some screw caps to neaten the screws
@@toni5431 Oooh - *primo* suggestion - thank you!🙏😁👍
Oh jeez, that buzzy cutty thing sounds like a dentist drill. Triggered!
Just mute it , you could tell when he was not doing it when he put it down.
@@jackiedennington4872 it didn't bother me but i usually listen to these as I'm driving for work. People can't always micromanage the volume etc
I JUST read this comment as it started.... YUCK. I think that should be edited to like a calming soothing bird song, LMFAO
@@mbe102 Which type of bird? I can see guys arguing over the call of the "Tufted Titmouse" vs "The Greater Tit" or The "Blue-Footed Booby"; while females might titter over "Horny Screamers" and "Cocks-of-the-Rock". For those somewhere else on that spectrum, it might be the call of the "Perplexing Scrubwren" or "The Splendid Fairywren."
Tiny tip - when smoothing the silicone bead with your finger have a bowl of water to hand and keep it (your finger) wet.
I love that you and Jason work so well together and you teach him so much! That doesn’t happen in every father and son relationship. And you get each other’s humor. 🎉
Great job guys! Sure could use you both in my kitchen disaster. Went to Staples for a new wireless mouse, looked around and came home with the mouse, a new desk chair to put together, and 2 file cabinets. All was on sale and things I needed to replace 25 yr. old beat up stuff. All in the kitchen for now. My back and neck are to sore to deal with it for a bit. Haven't been to Staples for years and they have a lot of neat stuff. I think I need a shock collar to keep me out of there.
That, and IKEA.😬🤣
This looks great!
I love being from the Midwest. 😂 the commonality of the banter >>>>
Jason makes grouting the way I mix pancakes. 🤣😁 New splashback looks really good.
OMG! The hacksaw sounds on the tile! I'm autistic too, and I have a sensory disorder that goes along with it, I just had to mute this video! 😵💫 The kitchen is going to look good though. Love to watch your videos.
Looks awesome 👍🏼
17:09 -- OMG, a Sifl and Olly shirt! That show was brilliant!
Edit: That backsplash looks terrific!
Omg I didn’t notice the shirt until I read your comment! I was just watching old sifl and olly episodes on YT last week 😂 it really is brilliant!
34seconds late. I am here and thats what matters
Wow, I can SO relate to your ideas as I am a novice at home renovations, Mack! I used all purpose filler to stick tiles back on and it works! Love the stuff. I am going to mortar some limestone and concrete path cracks outside today and I have never done it before, so you inspired me to get her done! I hope it works! Thanks, Mack
The backsplash is beautiful . Great choice.
I like that you left the tile staggered on the right. Looks like it’s moving really fast!
Imperfection is the key to perfection.
I “saw” what you did there! 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loving the tile - all visiting moose will be able to check their appearance and antler angle in it and that's a good and moose respectful thing 🫎 Great to see you both 😊
I appreciate the practical projects you put online for home improvement. Your Gen X humor always makes me laugh.
The tile looks great, guys! Makes me want to add a bit to my kitchen when I do a simple update of my cabinets. I might have tile behind my stove also. I've been thinking of behind the bathroom sink for a while.
Love the tiles, awesome tips 😎
Looks great!! I'm brave enough to do mine now!
Great job👍! I think it's great how you teach Jason some good skills to have. 😀
I appreciate you making the video for us. I would be terribly disappointed if I couldn’t watch one of your videos on Saturday.
You might not do everything the way a professional would do it, but it’s good enough to encourage and inspire us DIYers. Now I want to find something to tile!
First! Happy weekend!
Nice upgrade and great teamwork.
I’d watch you and Jason do cleaning and reno’s at your homes all day. ❤ I need to do backsplash too.
Totally agree about the rubber mallet!!
One thing that might help is a 'tool library' where you can borrow the tool/s you need to do a project and not have to purchase what you may never need again. Check in your community to see if its an available option.
Awesome job, and i love that Jason is getting the chance to learn so many skills, and create great memories with you. And then he can, in turn, share that with his child, too. ❤
Every mother's dream. It's later on the left coast. You are irresistible. Time change fault. 💙
Looks great! Alas, my only tiling experience involves the peel-n-stick ones I put on the floor a few years ago.
It was Spring Break this week, so I tackled some projects around the house to freshen it up this week too. Got sick and tired of waiting for my hubby to get around to doing them, so I did them myself. There's a minor project in the works involving building and screening an entirely new window frame, but given what I accomplished this week on my own, I'm confident I can do this job myself too.
Great idea to tile that area. It's made a huge difference to the feel of the space.
Thank you for sharing. As always, I learned so much.
For what it's worth, the buzzy cutting thing did not bother me in the least. I must be accustomed to power tools running. Anyway, very nice job on the tile and grout. Looks great.
@dkbrew 🎯 👍🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 ♥️
Dude, the staggered edge is excellent. If you hang can the clock a bit higher, above the tile, it won’t look like you are trying to hide a mistake. Beautiful job by the way!
So proud of Jason. Even when he was mixing the grout he was learning. My dad taught me a lot of awesome things things too. Just imagine the cool things he gets to pass along.....
Your son being in the middle of the work and doing a quality job caught my attention.
I liked the last few tiles. I would like to call it dip and squish 💙
Thanks for the tips!
"Yes. I see," said the blind man when he picked up his hammer and saw 😉🤣
I've laughed til i was crying, reading the comments about the "buzzy thing "😂😂😂😂
Great job on the back splash...
Thanks everyone for making me laugh so hard, I need that...🥰🥰
Great job, Mack and Jason!
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Love the new backsplash. Nice job!
Puttin’ that RUclips money to use with that fancy backsplash!
Looks great.
I have to say, this is one of the best step by step how to videos on basic tiling that I have seen on all of RUclips. Thank you for posting this!!! Another awesome video!
Wow! I can’t believe how the new backsplash brightens up that whole area! Great choice. Oh, and I LOVE the imperfection bits…..and Jason…..and of course you! Your whole family are awesomeness!
It's great to ee you and Jason spend so much time together. 😊 You really down play things alot. This is realities for alot of people wanting to do things in their home. Thanks for sharing.
Have to admit I was really doubting the jagged edge, but I really liked how it turned out. Never would have thought of that.
looks entirely different----really neat-O.
You are so cool 😎, I just love your narrative in your videos 😂😂. I really love the tile great job sir❤👏🏻👏🏻
Great job my friend. Looks beautiful
Look so nice !! Great job guys !! ❤🇨🇦👍
Nice job Mr. Cheeseburger! You made this job look so easy, one my hubby won’t let me do. What til he goes golfing..bahahaha. Jason you did a great job
That looks beautiful. The sound of the tapping of the mallet was like a woodpecker. Oh the buzzy thing, I’ve heard of them. Hope Emily is doing well. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 👏💪👍🙏💐☘️
New color pieces look great on your wall 😊
It looks beautiful!
It's always good to help your son learn new things and make meaningful memories together. ❤
Great job! And I like the unevenness of the right edge. Makes it unique. I bet all the tile guys will be doing that this summer 👍😆
I guarantee the tile guys won't, the electrical guys would install box extensions / shock rings, install new devices and do the work to square the devices / cover plates.
It looks good, Mack! Jason is learning a lot from his dad. I just love to watch the interaction between the two of you ❤
Looks great!
You did a great job buttering that backsplash. And that's probably the weirdest thing I've said in quite a while. 😊 The backsplash looked great when you got done. What a difference!
“Ultra Fine”, Mack and Jason! Another sweet video😊
I think the metal box trim looks sweet!
GOOD JOB. 👍
Hiiiii I love your whole family
Looks really, really, really nice !! And very neat. Didn’t expect those tiles to turn out so attractive. GREAT job !👍 ❤
It really looks very nice. Very impressed with your son. I love it when you guys do things like this.
That new backsplash looks so good! I love how tiny little things like this can change the overall feeling of a room. I once exchanged the handles of a kitchen for more modern ones and although the kitchen was still old and overdue, this tiny thing made it so much better already!
It looks amazing. Amateur or not y'all did a very nice job.
I like the way that tile looks.
doesn't need every tool in existence to get the job done.
BASED!
Sped-up buzzy cutty thing sounds like a dentist’s drill and now I have a bit of a fight or flight response. 😂
