I am surprised that people would rather spend $500 on a cheap generic looking Arcade1UP instead of spending extra $200 or so to get a proper Japanese candy cab that is basically 1000 times better than arcade1UP...
@@modology I own 3 candy cabs but I still want this for online play. imo online retro gaming is really the selling point here. The arcade scene was always about playing with strangers and that aspect is missing when you have arcade machines at home. But I do get your point, real arcade machines are not that expensive, I paid $600 for a real ms Pacman, $700 for crazy taxi sitdown cab, $400 for Time Crisis 3.
Wow! We’re the real machines in good condition when you bought them? I don’t how how to fix them or anything about crts. I have always wanted a candy cab! Would you please tell me how/where to get one? My wife is Japanese so I can go to Japan if need be! Lol

Weird to see street fighter in a midway cabinet but I understand why they did it.
If you replace the sticks with IL you should do a tutorial video. I’ve read that you don’t need to cut down the base like previous cabinets.
Seeing Super Puzzle Fighter on the games list makes me kinda want one. It's one of my all time favorites!!

@@RetroRalph It has been a long time! I designed and had custom art printed up to make a custom Puzzle Fighter A1Up cab. I still need to do that one up. I've run out of room though. I think I'm going to have to sell some off and consolidate. I also was given a free Street Fighter cocktail cab that I need to do something with as well.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I have quite a base of original arcade fans now that would probably disagree, but hey, you like what you like. I think both are interesting if you're a fan of arcade gaming. None of these products would exist if it wasn't for the legacy that original arcades left behind. Anyhow, I appreciate you watching. I do fix them by the way, just backlogged at the moment. ;-)

My intention was in reference to your other video about having a backlog of vintage arcade cabinet work to do. Didn't mean to infer that you'll actually "never fix" those, it was a poorly worded all-in-good-fun jab. Love that you make content surrounding what interests you, I just like the idea that you can do both.

I've been watching your content in this channel even before the early days of 1up. I was even kind of bummed out when I found out that you went to local convention in Pasadena and would have meant the world if I had met you in person as you inspired me and many others on Arcade gaming culture as whole. What I'm getting at is that seeing you leaving the home arcade scene and pursuing on real arcades as a passion made me so happy for you as you followed doing what you really love. Now seeing you do this even just a one off means a lot to myself and the community yet alone doing a review on my favorite series title Street Fighter II. Thank you Retro Ralph for doing this for the community and giving us the breakdown and your honest feedback once again. You sir are a LEGEND in my book as to Flynn is to Tron. @@mikeandroid3512 I’m around the same height as you. Standing while playing gets annoying in my opinion, but on a stool it’s fine. You may think it’s fine though. You’ll be looking down while playing if you stand.

The bat tops coming off during gameplay can also be fixed using plumbing tape instead of glue (no mess). Just wrap the tape around the threads of the joystick and screw the top on. Holds for years, yet still can be removed without a ton of hassle if you want to change the top out.

@@RetroRalph The only questionable thing was why only one 10" sub and not two.🤣 Thanks! Renders have been fun , but excited to get back to building. Designing custom artwork sounds fun, but I'm not a concept artist / illustrator. What I do for my mods and renders is basic. I take existing artwork, clean it up, separate elements and adjust to work with the proportions of the cabinet.

I saw a bootleg Street Fighter II cab in an arcade a couple of years ago, abd the side art was incredibly similar to this!
Might have been the HD remix art.

Cool vid Ralph. I agree this is the better version over the yoga flame cabinet - I couldn’t wait and since yoga flame was available first went for that version and we really like it!

@@heartofakid9532 I just like the marquee and deck decals on the Hadoken. Games are the same, and while I agree the red pops and they both have amazing artwork - I just think the Hadoken looks slightly better. Really is personal preference. In any case, I have the yoga flame so sticking with it. Will post my review below of you want to compare

i mean, a square gate situated in the standard 'diamond' position _prevents_ the diagonal from being registered, so *NO* hadoken unless you have either octagonal or round gate
I wish they would just make a machine that was all of their 6-buttom fighters in one but that'll never happen. Would be cool to just have MK series, SF series, Marvel fighters and Killer Instinct all in one cab!

Thanks bud 😉 I don’t know if you can count on me for continued coverage… but maybe every now and then. I would absolutely love to have a way to add online capabilities to my OG cabinets. I talked to John D about it forever ago, he didn’t seem to think there was much of a market for it. I would agree but I think it could be successful spin off brand geared towards arcade collectors looking to join the online party. I would personally back the project, maybe it might be worth a grassroots marketing effort. Anyway, appreciate you watching man and I hope all is well! 🙏🏼

Welcome back! Your channel got me into Arcade 1up. I watch your other content as well, but I will never own a real arcade machine (pinball maybe).
1:13 imagine some dirty, thirsty, and hungry random man appears out of no where. He doesn't ask if he can also play. He just inserts a coin and the picks his fighter and the fight begins. He wins and before the man in the red truck can turn to say "Great Match" the man is no longer there.

RAD review as always! I pre-ordered this one off the walmarts a couple of weeks ago and can't wait for it to come in! Yes, I'll be installing Sanwa buttons, Sanwa joysticks with 9lbs springs and 1.5mm actuators. Still will get my butt kicked though lol.
Besides adding a riser extension and a z313 system I really don't see myself doing much else to the cab.

You're awesome as always! I'm impressed by this cab as well. I don't understand why 1up doesn't give you the option to purchase a upgrade for the joystick,.buttons and have it installed to the control panel. That and ditch the riser and make it the standard to be one piece.

I'm surprised they didn't put Hyper Turbo since that's an Anniversary game and it would have fit really well with the theme of the cab, but I get why they put Super Turbo instead.
It seems to be a good quality cab, all things considered, and hopefully the upcoming MvC2 cab can meet or exceed the quality of this one.
Also, that montage at the beginning. lol I think I'll watch some of your old videos now.

I hate to say it, but the octagonal gate does make my dragon punch come out more consistent. But then again, it's me personally because I've tried square and round gates and those don't work for me. I currently own three cabinets ( 1 Vewlix Diamond Orange, 1 Vewlix C, and 1 Atomiswave SD). All three have Sanwa JLF joysticks with octagonal gates, 1.5lbs spring, Kowal 1mm Oversize Actuator, and Sanwa buttons. I have an Arcade1up Big Blue that is not set up yet, but when I do, it will have the same as my other 3 cabinets.
I love them, but they just take up to much room in the house... or I just have to many.
Awesome review. We had to pre ordered this from ShopHippo. They pushed back the release date from Aug 15 to Aug 30th. All while everyone is getting the Yoga Flame cab. 😔

I do miss your 1up show. But I understand you have to do what interests you or it's no fun. I admit I don't what your new show as much. It's fun to see the classic arcades in real life size, but they are out of my reach. So 3/4 cabs shows are of more interest to me. I do wish I had enough room, and a younger back to be able to get real arcades into my upstairs. Good for you on making the hard decision to do what you really like.
I have a question regarding gameplay. Are you able to adjust difficulty levels, so the cpu opponents are not very difficult to beat?

You sure can; you can adjust difficulty on all the games included on the cabinet. So if you're learning any of the fighting games, this makes it a bit easier to get started. For example, SF2 CE in the real arcade had 0-7 Difficulty, it was set to around 3-4 typically, but you now have control over that at home via the setting on the User Interface of the 1up. It's actually really cool that they do this now. In the past, you were stuck with the default settings and couldn't adjust them.
Did they remove Knights of the Round that A1ups Big Blue had?!?! That’s so heartbreaking.

Not really what I expected to see I was hoping street fighter games would be added but only 1 I will wait until they add street fighter 3rd strike just like the street fighter collection that was released for xbox one PS4 Nintendo Switch PC not adding street fighter alpha also is a big deal if you look at capcom arcade 2nd Stadium that’s worth it that’s what I want to see in the arcade 1 up

For real, i have multiple a1ups but their talk about putting in real sticks makes me shake my head. The buttons dont bother me as much as the sticks do.
I sold my original SF2 A1U recently, but if I could find this for as cheap as I did the original, I'd be all over it.
Only thing that keeps me from buying this is the lack of a Darkstalkers game. Big Blue has the best lineup but the cab itself is pretty boring meanwhile this one is beautiful but falls short on fighting games. The legacy cab had a great lineup and side art, but no wifi so that's a no go for me too. So my wait continues.
