Morning brother I watch you all the time but have to comment on this one. I miss the daddy daughter dance I took my girls every year we’d get all dressed up and go to the local diner for dinner before the dance! They got so much attention at the diner cause we stuck out like a soar thumb.☺️ they felt like princesses. It was great man! Momma did their hair all up and some times they got their nails done. It was great man! Have fun!!!

How old were those heifers when they danced with me bull? You are right those are some big girls, but they all had great udders. Have you ever thought of installing those free stalls that are better for the animals? I don't know if they are made of plastic or rubber?
It is so nice to watch you talk about the girls (human) you can see the pride in your eyes. Also when you talk about the other girls. It is so nice to just see the girls as you walk through the cow yard.
I haven't seen the bull lately, and the other farm. It's time for us to check up on the heifers and dry cows.

Maintenance is a always continuing job that is for sure. Can see where you have to redo the stalls every so often with the size of cows. Big animals are hard on things.

Kip, those new cubicles look like it's giving cows too much room to turn left, right under them when getting up, with the potential of getting the odd one stuck- and those boards, not really brisket boards but yea, almost, I would not remove them- cows will crap on the end of the beds lying down and again will get too far forward when trying to get up- not many, but even 1 is too much when stuck and you're busy, ends up damaging themselves. Just a bit of advice from your ag bag mate, here in the UK, 35 yrs experience of all sorts cubicles, diff sized cows, yields, bedding! Which yea, sand rules!!!
Quite an operation you have set up! Business question for you: The Greg Judy channel (focused on feeding beef steers) talks a lot about short legged cattle having much lower input demands, which made me remember back to my folks milking "tall" Holsteins for their dairy operation (they moved to crops and hay when I was growing up, parlor dismantled, I only hand milked our Jersey -- then I escaped to school, an industrial career, and am now running a few antique tractors and hobby crops because once a farmer...). From a modern dairy business perspective, behind Holsteins, what breed would you choose and why? Are the dairies/supermarkets treating cream for butter/cheese as important where breed performance could start to matter or just secondary products?

That’s what we did bring in the 1st calf heifers in the parlor for about a week before they had their calf‘s works great that’s for sure! Enjoy watching your videos! Bringing back good memories!😊

I gotta say, I don't remember seeing heifers that big ever, seriously, those are some huge heifers !! If I was walking around your yard, I would of thought they were second, third time cows.. Wow, you raise some massive Holsteins !!

We raise purebred Black Angus, average weight 1300/1400 pounds, bulls are obviously heavier, but definitely smaller than your Holsteins, just amazed at how big your heifers are..

Those are some big heifers. I'm concerned that the cows could crawl into the loops of your new stall loops. The bottom part of the loop is flush with the sand instead of being elevated, like the old ones. I hope they don't cause problems.

I saw a dairy farmer drinking milk on Tube from Canada. Never see dairy farmers promoting their own product. Why? Again, the Canadian dairy farmer's point was about dumping milk at the end of the month into the drain as mandated by his government. Eaglegards... .

Quick question. When the milk leaves your farm, where does it go? At the grocery store what brand of milk would have milk from your farm in it? Thanks
Well it first has to go a processing plant and most likely get turned into cheese or something else, very little gets left as fluid milk for the stores. (Maybe 2%)

I haul the milk from kips farm... I go to Kroger dairy in Livonia michigan... most of the milk there is for drinking... they do make alot of cottage cheese there.
@@countryguy72065 Lots of wheels on your truck. Do you need that many wheels for road weight regulations or just for traction on slippery roads?
@colorado1088 it's for weight... I gross about 151,000.... trailer hold just shy of 12,000 gallons... 103,000 pounds of milk... I would guess there are 400 to 500 of these in the state... some hold 13 thousand gallon... mine is pretty legal at 151,000
Might check the heifer stalls, my experience has been that they learn to lay backwards if the stalls are too big for them

I've never seen a herd with so many backward lying cows. Could they be training each other by not correcting them?
It may be because the stall dimension are getting a bit small. But I think the farmer may know the real reasons
The top rails look very low to me, compared to mine and how they're set up in my country.
