I mean, even after 120 hours, I can get confused about my enemies or have difficulty identifying the enemy.
It happens a lot more than you think. Camos and outlines can be hard to distinguish at times
What do you expect when all these people just shoot without bothering to identify? There’s no incentive to do so since there’s no real penalty even on severs where you have to say sorry. Just run and gun then worry about it later cause who gives a shit, all part of the authentic experience.
this is...honestly incredible. the main complaint people had with the earlier playtest was the recoil and weapon sway was INTENSE. even bipoded, mgs still swayed like they were being held by chopsticks. OWI making it so the gun actually seems like it's being held by a trained soldier is just incedible. they are scarily on-point with actually listening to the community, and honestly? I'll buy all the damned skins and dlc they want if they keep delivering!
It is very nice to see them actually listening after the whole tencent thing and not another team17 situation like HLL
Now we hope they listen to the feedback on the movement cause that 10% decrease in speed doesn’t seem to be impacting the gameplay changes as much and is more just being complain about for making the game more clunky
@@D00000T I think the speed change is actually kinda bad. Or at least not implemented right. In a mod called dunamic direction they made it so the character couldn't sprint if they were out of stamina. Only jog/walk.
Making it so the character was just as fast as vanilla, but keeping the fact that you needed to be mindful and tactical when you sprinted. Aka only sprint when crossing roads, going from cover to cover.

@@Skeys13ive said somewhere before, but i think with this kind of situation, some sort of adrenaline mechanism can be implemented...maybe giving a boost to stamina for a short while when it kicks in, with some penalty afterwards...like shaking or something...of course its just an idea that needs to be developed more..
so nice to finally be playing Project Reality with Squad graphics and sound design. I feel a new wave of squad players.
It’s still a little easier than PR just because the way it handles accuracy is still more fair and less randomized but yeah, it’s so much closer to PR. I can’t wait for this to go live.
I just want old squad leaders to come back so I can sit back and play anything else but SL
No because PR players will never leave PR especially because it's free. A lot of PR players are from east europe and only play free games

How are you gonna diss PR like that?
I was skeptical about the new deviation mechanic but after messing with it I actually really appreciate it. It's not IMPOSSIBLE to land shots if you wrestle with the crosshair, but you're always going to be more accurate and affective by just standing still or being prone, which is accurate to real life. I was worried that this update would make gunplay basically impossible unless you're laying down and in a squad formation but honestly it's not that bad and I like the extra nuance.

I think the sweet spot might be like halfway between the first version and this one. The high sway is super important for increasing the length of firefights and getting the fun struggle/teamplay stuff instead of run-and-gun.
Definately. I feel exactly the same.
Not just the sway. The speed IMO is an even bigger factor here, with vanilla speeds pushing a lot more dispersed play since people can quickly reposition.
Slower speeds and more intense suppression push squads together and make for better firefights.
@@kshitijvmall Yeah the movement itself needs to be looked at. I dont like that when the character is totally exhausted, he still runs. Because what is even the point of just not holding Shift down all the time like in current main version of Squad. Excluding of course the scenario of when you run into an enemy and cant hit him reliably due to being exhausted and having sway/deviation from the new mechanic- knowing when to hold back on the Shift button is a matter of individual skill and experience and patience of a player. This is the only punishment that the current movement system has and I feel like its not enough.
@@Slokiler123I honestly like weapon stability being the main factor for stamina. It’s kind of frustrating to run for 10 seconds, stopping to recover, and repeating. I like how you can run for long distances, but if you engage in combat while fatigued you have a big disadvantage. I don’t think players should be discouraged for running long distances, but they should be punished for being caught off guard doing so.
@@Slokiler123I think slowing the movement speed down slightly would be better. In the last playtest it was -15%, I'd say -10% would be good
2:45 your gun doesn't stop swaying because of no stamina. Result of this is because of not being healed by a medic. you took too much damage without being healed, so your stamina won't regen.
this game mechanic has been in the game for over 2 years now and was surprised you were confused on what was going on.

you can change magnification with marksmen now, press F to do it 3 to 12 optics

oh shit really? I noticed they got rid of the red crosshair on the SASS so I figured they just redid the reticle with the new scope or something, but didn't realize they went that far. That's awesome
I wonder if it's possible to use the milliradian marks on the sight to range find as well. I tried to do the math with the old one but it was scaled way too large so it was impossible to get accurate ranges
So scopes are just back to being the defacto best option everyone will use again, along with the laser tag that implies. Great.
Idk most people in the playtest were using red dots when I played it. Optics are useless when the fight is close quarters still because of the long time to ads and the blurry peripheral.
Bro scopes exist and shooting through them doesn't give you a panic attack or at least it's not supposed to.
@@SaturnVII I was a DM during my deployment. I know what using a scope is like and this non-sense is pure arcade whack-a-mole. At some point it's not even about the realism anyway, the laser tag completely ruins the point of the game and it's why Squad is having an overhaul to begin with because in it's current form it's not even a milsim game anymore.
There are no tactics. There is almost no teamwork. Firefights don't even exist 99% of the time. It's just grand scale deathmatching with some caps to funnel people in the right direction. Scoped rifles being 'babby's first FPS' levels like they currently are completely shuts down all the gameplay the game advertises.
Its already looking like the game play is way faster than the last playtest. They gotta tone up the sway a bit closer to how it was in the last one imo or its just going to be regular squad all over again.
They need to make the 3rd and final play test a middle ground between this and last week. It would be perfect then
Yeah absolutely. First one was too much, second one tuned it too much down. A third playtest right in-between would be so sick, and I hope that's the end result that makes it to live servers

Would like to hear you give a bit more a take on your opinion as they iterate on the overhaul. From the footage, it looks a middle ground needs to be reached. Scoped look a bit closer to point-and-click in this video.

Gonna wait till this is fully released to try it as I don't think I'll be able to go back to normal Squad. Glad to hear nothing but positive news about this overhaul though!
Ikr, I’ll be giving Squad another chance once the changes go live.
Now we just need some audio stuff like better reverb in buildings and local VOIP with echo and muffle like Six Days in Fallujah and you have one of the best tactical shooters ever made.
Yeah the sounds in that game is amazing, want something like this in Squad, Why can't we have ray traced sounds in 2023 dang it!

Not loving the faster scope in. An adjustment was probably fine, but I liked the clear advantage close quarters sights actually got in close quarters

All the comments i see on these videos are like "yeah this is cool but i wish it was more accurate / less sway / easier to one-shot people at 100m after sprinting all-out".
Like, we had that for five years. Every other military shooter has that. Please for the love of God let a game do something different for once and stop appealing to "i feel like i should be able to [win easier]".
Yup, this change immediately killed my hype for reinstalling. They're going to just keep giving concessions until it's back to brainless deathmatching and laser tag.

Community has been slowly growing with the current mechanics over the years, the people asking for these changes are overwhelmingly the more casual players who feel like the skill gap is too high in terms of shooting. Essentially half the community is asking for the devs to add in a crutch so they stop getting wasted so fast, but the most likely outcome is that veteran players will just learn the new mechanic and the game will play similar to how it has always played, except now the newest people will have even more trouble (as if it wasnt hard enough for them) being able to play.
At the end of the day this was never designed to be a milsim, though it has strong milsim elements, and it has always been different from Project Reality. The game has slowly gotten easier over the years, but squad never messed with your ability to shoot and move accurately. They removed the hardcore elements that slowed gameplay like 9 man rallies and insta-death for headshots. Instead of making a mechanical crutch they should bring these elements back and make suppression more substantial.
first playtest iteration might not have been the best but i feel like they nerfed the things that made overhaul the overhaul and it definately lost some of that atmosphere.. i see alot more run and gun, getting killed by first shot like theres no deviation, etc. They need to bring back that magic from first playtest.
They should have stood their ground. Instead they caved to the CoD crowd that wanted ez mode scopes and laser tag gunplay. Oh well, guess I won't end up reinstalling after all if most of the weapon roster is still going to be useless and tactics still wont exist because fights are ended in seconds by scoped rifles
@@shadow7988 tbf i think red dots/russian variants are the better choice for now, most fights in my experience end up being CQB so having red dot sight to aim faster than the enemy is very good rn.. but this also creates another problem- scopes become very situational where before in first playtest it didnt feel like that, scopes were still viable even on shorter engagements because of the increased deviation/sway which i feel they have nerfed
@@shadow7988 Nope, this playtest was much more playable, actually feels more like the gun is being held by a man and not a 60lb soaking wet twig. It's still not there, but imo it's much better than the first playtest. From the way you're talking about the game, it doesn't sound like you have many hours on it, I suggest playing more before jumping to conclusions, aight?

I've seen many people right here in this comment section having the same stance on this as I do, and yes, also many people who want a sweetspot as you're saying (tho from what I've seen I doubt some of them ever played squad but that's besides the point) As previously stated, give the devs feedback and they will decide how to continue.
They need to make it like it was before but only when you are out of stamina completely. More stamina faster weapon recovery. Less gets worse, and none is awful.

Yeah, this current iteration defeats the entire update. Scopes are the bane of milsim games because they're babby-mode and make plinking insanely easy when there is basically no sway or sight misalignment to up the skill floor. This is why arma servers worth their salt ban scopes. Can't have tactics and firefights when everyone is just dieing in seconds to super accurate and babby-mode scopes.

Not sure how I feel about these changes personally the version before was deffo less realistic but it slowed down gameplay so much more. Since these changes I feel like it's back closer to just being normal squad again with a few nerfs and changes but not an overhaul... Idk.. Whatever most players want i guess but I've deffo lost some hype I had before seeing the new gameplay of the changes.

I get the first playtest was less realistic in terms of how the guns actually worked but the overall experience was just better, i had some of the best games I've played in months on that
Agreed. People crying about "muh cheek weld".. the longer fire fights were worth it.
Ironically the less realistic handling definitely made the firefights themselves more realistic. imo “realistic” Video games need to purposely slow down the players to make the experience

😂😂 firefight times have been increased by 0.5 seconds! it’s barely any different now, unfortunate but I guess that’s what happens when squad devs feel they absolutely need to bend the knee to the people who love what we have now.
I think it be cool if you could mount weapons as a stabilizer. Like COD but only in certain areas and would limit how quick you could move.

The weapon sway seems to be only visual now, might as well go back to PR 😢
I wish they added an over/under scope views like in Arma and real life, where you can use the iron or auxiliary aiming for close combat for marksman and ACOG like scopes.

Only thing I would love them to ad for me as a new player is tape around the arm so I can se the difference between enemy and friendly 😊 I do enjoy the game.
My only issue is that the sniper scope should definitely take up MORE of the screen. Nobody has their eye a mile away from the scope like this. Unless it's a far eye relief scope on a revolver.
Eh....liked the previous overhaul more. It is almost back to the OG squad. They need to increase the suppression a bit more and I'll be ok with the other changes to sway and what not.

I still wish that they'd have the weapons ADS off center as they do IRL. You don't shoot with the gun straight in front of you. lol
The thing about video game is that you are a cyclop .Simulating having two eyes probably would end up weird as hell since you have only 1 screen and having your guy just aim down sight to the right of your screen would probably be irritating

Recoil was super easy to control before, but I don’t know if this system is too random of a pattern and spread for it to feel particularly enjoyable. Will have to wait and see when it goes live

is the performance any better? I have a 3070TI, 5800X3d and 32 gigs of 4500MHZ ram. I got very spotty, inconsistent performance. I do have a VERY high end PC on the way. SO I guess it doesn't matter too much, but still curious none the less.

Been playing PR for over ten years and was super excited for Squad but it became casual and yuck. As a super solid PR player (used to play with Finest lol) do you think this could bring me back? I've been apprehensive to try playing again despite the new update
it's worth trying regardless. Make sure you get the public testing version of the game, not the standard version if you download. Standard does not have the infantry overhaul yet

The amount of times my dumbass thought that it was safe when in fact it wasn't because there was a dumdum hiding somewhere my ass can't see is too much to count. Also when I mistook an enemy for a friend is just bruh. I played as a vdv squad leader because the old SL left like a Lil wanker, and we pushed the objective and I was talking to the command and other SLs, I was running and bumped into an enemy that my dumbass thought it was a friendly lol.

😂same happened to me, there was a guy looking around a corner, I was behind him and thought he was a friendly so I came close to him and said something like "You want sum ammo boah" while noticing that the helmet his wearing looks weird apparently I was Russian and he was a Canadian and he just turned around killed me.
😂😂there was another one but this time it was one of my teammates in Russian faction, the dude was roleplaying as a butt touching medic, He saw some friendlies down so he took his med kit while I was following him, He and a American soldier both bumped into each other face first while he kept saying "Who wants butt touching" both parted ways and I also got deceived but noticed the cloth was a little greyish so I turned around and saw no name being appeared so I realize he was a enemy and I think he also realized at that same time that we were enemies cause he turned around the same time when I shot him, I was laughing at that scene so much 😂

Those vdv’s vss can be scary sometimes. On russian servers its almost impossible to play for vdv side these days and when you with your bois are taking the hill, hearing the ‘ps ps ps’ out of nowhere is sooo frustrating
