I am from Asher and live in the USA. There was a girl from the tribe of Dan. Back in the late 70s while I was in an institure classthe teacher asked each of us what tribe we are from. There were some from Manasseh and the rest from Ephraim.

My friend returned from a mission to Russia. During a giant gathering in Moscow, the speaker asked members to stand as she read the list of the 10 tribes. She said that she and her husband just grabbed each other's hand as everyone stood and there were members from every tribe. They are lost no longer.

Great vid! Although Elder Maxwell came to my mission while I was a missionary. He told us we would have the records of the Lost 10 Tribes. He talked as though it was relatively soon and didn’t indicate that we would have to wait for the millennium. I also have a talk he gave at Rick’s College in 1983 where he says those present would live to enjoy those additional scriptures. He references this and other events that would take place before the Second Coming. Give it a listen. Anyway, I’m glad we can all learn together:-)
@@KingPoseidon02 I don't remember what the narrator said about this in the video, but the fact is that Jacob adopted Ephraim and Manasseh, who became 1/2 tribes in place of the tribe of Joseph. Technically there are 13 actual tribes, however by reckoning Ephraim and Manasseh as 1/2 tribes they remained 12 numerically. So it's a fact that the tribes don't exactly correspond with the sons, but that shouldn't be confusing.
@@doxholiday1372 The Twelve Sons of Jacob are the Patriarchs of the Twelve Tribes. Ephraim and Manasseh are two lineages that flow from Joseph. The tribe of Joseph receives a double portion. From Ephraim the Tribe of Joseph is to gather the tribes of Israel to Christ. From Manasseh, the Tribe of Joseph is to witness that Jesus is the Christ. The only time in the scriptures, Ephraim and Manasseh are not considered the same is when Levi is doing the census report.

Parley P. Pratt has some interesting information on the location of the 10 Tribes in the Millennial Star, Volume 1, No.10, pp. 257-258, Feb. 1841 question number 7. Also in Ether 13:11 supports Elder Pratt's statement in giving 5 locations from which they will be gathered.

There most definitely is a tribe of Levi. I know someone who is from that tribe by his Patriarchal blessing. Further, Wendy Nelson tells of an experience meeting someone from every tribe except Levi in Moscow, but then meeting a Levi person the next day in another city in Armenia, I think it was.

When I was on my mission, one of the other missionaries was from Trinidad and Tobago. Since he did not have a local patriarch at the time in his home branch, he got his patriarchal blessing once he got to the mission field. In his patriarchal blessing he was told he was not part of any tribe of Israel, but was a descendent of Abraham. I wonder how often that has happened?
Well, Abraham did have 8 sons, and those sons had many sons. Even Isaac had 2 sons. Jacob's twin brother Esau took Canaanite wives, so even though his descendants were illegitimate and cursed, even they could claim descent from Abraham.

In a Conference talk in 1916 James Talmage said that there were people present in the congregation that would read the records of the lost 10 tribes. The infants present when he said that are over 100 years of age now. Was he speaking as a prophet or was that his opinion?
Both the Bible and the book of Ether bear witness that humans can live for centuries. Who's to say that a small group of people are not enjoying special longevity that they choose not to share? Based on some of the conversations Jesus had in Jerusalem during his ministry, there was active seeking of water that would enable the drinker to live for a very, very long time.

From what I have learned and studied, I don’t think the verses in Doctrine and Covenants 133 are referring to a specific event. I believe these verses to be “victory imagery”. They are expressing the joy the tribes will feel as they are gathered into The Lord’s church. We know that the only person on the earth with the keys of the gathering of Israel is the president of The Church. So, it is the church’s responsibility and duty under the direction of the Prophet to gather Israel. The verses in D&C 133 are referring to the Gathering happening now. It may not seem so miraculous from our current vantage point as described in these verses, but when the work is finished we will share in the feelings and see it as a fulfillment of these verses.
The north countries isn’t referring to a specific place. The only road out of Israel in to Assyria was through a Northern Passage. This has more reference to the direction in which those led captive by Assyria were led.
Joseph Smith taught that the "North Countries" was also the North Star and that part of the planet had been broken off as it was with Enoch and Melckezidek and that the ten tribes were located next to it, i.e. the North Star.

Joseph Smith's wife, Eliza R. Snow said that Joseph told her the ten tribes were separated by both land and water and reside on a sphere close to the north star. Read her poem titled Address to Earth, written in 1851, and recorded in the Millennium Star volume 13 page 272.

Even though the Jews were scattered thru Europe, Russia, other parts the Middle East, they tended to keep to themselves, both culturally and religiously. The peoples of the countries they were in usually ostracized them, and the Jews themselves didn't want to dilute their chosen lineage. I don't think they're as inter-married as the general population.

The lost ten tribes are innumerable. Imagine how they have multiplied since they were led up north. When they return it will be a spectacular event! They are separate from the scattered tribes of Israel which are those of the remnant who were left behind. I have a pretty good idea as to their whereabouts and will post a podcast on it shortly if anyone is interested. I have been studying up on the legends, ancient stories and maps, histories etc. from around the world on this subject digging up info on the subject over the past 20 years.
I moved from Brazil to England, my DNA is 98 % Iberian. I live near Huddersfield, and last week I discovered an ancestor who lived in the 17th century, and left Portugal to live in Huddersfield! From all places in the world, how odd was that? Then I started to think what would have made this ancestor want to move to a different country, with a different language, Portugal back then was very powerful, it was an empire! So I went to check some history facts, and there was a horrible persecution, jews were forced to convert and were still being killed, by thousands. So probably this ancestor was a new Christian, fled Portugal, and many years after that part of the family went to US, and another part went to Brazil. Some of the americans joined the church and were pioneers. I am guessing that my family's conversion was not a coincidence.
I am not sure that Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh) was part of the lost 10 tribes. When Jesus visited the Nephites he said that he had to visit the other sheep that were separated from Jerusalem, because of their iniquity, meaning the 10 tribes were separated, not dispersed.

That's kind of a spiritualized interpretation. The New Jerusalem will be a literal city in Missouri. The gathering of Israel has begun, but the scriptures say they will be led out of the countries of the north in great power.

The ONLY way to know if Joseph Smith is a prophet is to receive that knowledge from the source of all truth directly, from the one who gave us the Bible. If your knowledge does not come by revelation, then it's just your best guess based on incomplete information. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God because the Holy Spirit has powerfully witnessed it to me on multiple occasions. I wish I could give people that knowledge directly but that's not how it works. Anyone who cares to know must do their part by reading the Book of Mormon and sincerely asking God in prayer.
Let's look at what happened to the tribes of Israel after going to the north. The Assyrians settled the people in Five cites, one of which was Nineveh. Have you ever wondered why Jonah went to Nineveh? That was the city where the king of Israel and most of the tribe of Ephraim were taken. When the Babylonians conquered Assyria, The Israelites fled from the Babylonians and started their westward trek. Many of them went into the north countries and settled in Scandinavia. The word Gael or Gaul means the people of God. Most of Europe are Israelites. The tribe of Ephraim and the king of Israel, kept moving westward and finally settled in the British Isles, so if you have ancestry from the British Isles you are most likely Ephraim. Jacob's blessing to Joseph was about branches over a wall. The wall turns out to be the Atlantic ocean and the branches over the wall are the descendants of the Lehi, the native Americans who are from Manasseh and then the British invasion of north America. It is also interesting to note that the main group of the tribe of Manasseh settled in Spain, so the Spanish invasion of Mexico and south America was a reunion of the tribe. When we speak of the return of the lost tribes, this has more to do with returning to the God of Israel, than returning to the there ancestral lands, although there may be a group from each tribe that will be represented in the land of Israel. I personally do not feel any attraction to going to the land of Israel. I am here in the Kansas city area waiting to build the new Jerusalem. This is the land of my inheritance.
The members of the 12 tribes returning are the specific 12000 from each tribe. These are known as the 144000-firstfruits. They will be redeem from the earth, purchased from among man-kind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. These are the ones indicated in 1Cor15:22-23 (the order of when God's people are gathered.) Going by their name sake (firstfruits) they are harvested first. Second (main) harvest is when Yehushua returns after the great tribulation period to gather His faithful followers. Everybody might be a member of one of the twelve tribes, but the sealing of the specific 12000 from each tribe and them being taken to Israel will constitute the complete formal gathering of Israel. The fact that remnants of all of the tribes of Israel are found on the earth today does not represent the 'return' and 'restoration' of the Lost 10 tribes as described in the scriptures and our 10th Article of Faith. The 10th Article of Faith separates the gathering of Israel and the restoration of Israel for good reason. The gathering has been underway for almost 200 years, but there will also be a 'hunting' as the 10 Tribes return and assist in finishing the work. The scriptures refer to 'THE' remnant of Jacob many times and the Allegory of the Olive Tree found in Jacob 5 clearly denotes a difference. When reading the scriptures pay close attention to the words being used, between being 'A' remnant and 'THE' remnant. When you see 'THE' remnant of Jacob talked about, it is the 'The Lost 10 Tribes'. Study 3 Nephi and you will see that Christ distinctly identifies 3 separate groups. He speaks of the House of Judah, which rejected Him. They were blind and did not ask to understand so the Father told Christ not to mention the Lost 10 Tribes. All that they were told was that there were other sheep not of the Judean fold. The Nephites were told that they were those He had referenced to Judah, but then the Lord reveals to the Nephites that He has been commanded of the Father to tell them of the lost tribes and that He must go visit them. I believe the Lord revealed this to the Nephites so that we would understand today what this means. Carefully study specifically the books of Daniel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Jacob, 3 Nephi and Revelations to learn what has been revealed. The book "A Remnant Shall Return - A Study of the Restoration of the House of Israel" by Michael Rush is a good study guide as well. I hope this will encourage further study about this fascinating part of the Lord's plan for the House of Israel and the redemption of Zion.
The answer is so simple that its amazing. Read Genesis, where God describes the seed of Abraham and what will become of his seed. Look at a globe and pick out the "Peoples" who fit that description ! Joseph went into Egypt as one tribe. BUT Joseph returned as two tribes !!
You're mixing up scattered Israel and the Lost Tribes of Israel. Scattered Israel is the diffused Israelites who mixed with the people in the northern latitudes. The Lost Tribes are a distinct group who are no longer on this planet. They reside on a sphere that was called The Land of the North, not the land to the north. The term Land of the North is used in the way God told Moses there were other lands (planets) that were inhabited. They will return to the northern polar areas, which is why their return is described as ice being melted and a great highway being in the deep aiding their return. Joseph Smith has talked about this, but it is ignored because members of the church are embarrassed by the truth and prefer the more "rational", worldly, explanation.

By the time you get to Jacob, you have to step back and look at the rest of the world, how big Japheths seed has grown and Ham’s seed too… Plus the descendants of Shem who aren’t Israelites. That’s a lot of people growing outside of Jacob’s family. So to trace your lineage directly to that family is still a small percent imo. Imo

The "times of the gentiles" was said to happen at the time of "wrath to this people", referring to those living in the time of the disciples. The days of vengeance spoken of in Luke 21:22 says "these are the days of vengeance", meaning those days when the disciples were given this word. The "times of the gentiles" occurred in the 1st century AD, it is not in our future as it was in the disciples' days. Also, this passage from Luke 21:22-24 does not speak of the return of the tribes whatsoever. The scattering of the people of Israel is clear but not their return. It is obvious from the context that this refers to the Roman invasion of the land of Israel and its total destruction in the Judeo-Roman war of 66-73 AD. This is a well known fact.

Zechariah is speaking to those who hear his voice in those days in Zech. 8:9 but he specifically addressed who those people are in Zech. 8:13 "And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong." This indicates to us that both the Northern and Southern tribes are present. This is further supported in the beginning of the very next chapter which states: "The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, are toward the LORD." (Zech. 9:1) 2. Jeremiah prophesies that following the Babylonian captivity that both houses of Israel (i.e. all the tribes) would be united (Jer. 50:1-4). In both Ezra 6:17 and 8:35 the mention is made that 12 goats were being offered for each of the 12 tribes of Israel as a sin offering. This ritual is that same as that found in Numbers chapter 7 in which each of the leaders of the 12 tribes had to be present to offer the goat corresponding to its tribe. Ezra is an historical book that records the events of those in the Babylonian captivity returning to the land of Israel with each of the 12 tribes attributed as having their respective leader, and respective tribe present.
I listened to Hyrum Andrus speak on the Times of the Gentiles. He said they were already fulfilled and used Like 21:24. He said this was fulfilled when the Jews took back control of Mt Moriah in the 60s. Whether it’s true or not, it was interesting.
Yes, opinion only. Its hard to imagine that they arent in this orchard. One would have to ignore a great deal of scripture and words of the prophets to accept the 10th article of faith is peaking of one event and not two seperate. . Arent the cities of Salam and Enoch supposed to return? Why would it be so difficult to imagine the remnant of the 10 tribes also ‘returning’? I look back on a dream that heated up the brothers of Joseph, as well as 10 verses in section 88 of D and C, for answers. The Ensign holds even more mysteries, looking back to Oct 1975, an article called ‘A Strange thing in the Land’, part 1 of a few written by Hugh Nibley. So much yet to learn.
In the Bible Dictionary under the heading Israel, Kingdom of; it says that the northern kingdom (which consisted of all ten tribes) was also known as Ephriam. I like to imagine that those who are pronounced as being from the tribe of Ephriam likely have the DNA of most or all of the ten northern tribes; and that those who have a more pure lineage might have a more specific lineage--being given a more specific name (such as Dan, Naphtali, etc.).
Tribes of levi means are the posterity of levi by blood and they are temples keeper. Because some of the people today are either adopted or by blood. So I was thinking that there is a lost tribe, like there is a race of people that are not aware of the world outside like us, and they will be freed and make a journey to Zion. And the math doesn’t make sense to me.
My theory: The lost tribes have leaders who were never "lost" to themselves. They migrated north and east out of the Levant region after the Babylonians started to take over. Like the Jewish leaders--who if you look closely at 1&2 Kings and the 4 Gospels, were hiding biochemistry-related pearls of science from the general public and engaging in questionable alliances to protect their own power/wealth structure--the lost tribes have some leaders who have sometimes been active behind the scenes in directing the affairs of the lands in which they came to live. Unlike the Jews, who gave us the Bible, there was no one among the other ten tribes that would give us their records. (Yet.) As modern-day patriarchal blessings show us, the ten tribes are present among us but usually not formally identified as such. We "gather" them into the fold of the Lord by preaching the gospel.
@@andriy457 incorrect. There are twelve tribes and 13 lineages. Joseph is one tribe but counted twice when doing census reports. Joseph’s two sons Ephraim and Manasseh are blessed before all of Israel but notice when Jacob blesses his sons, he blesses Joseph as one tribe not two.

The house of Judah is two tribes, the Jewish tribes. The house of Jakob(who received a new name by God, called Isreal) is 10 tribes. This is why Jesus said don't go to the Jews nor to the Samarians(Why?), rather go to the 10 tribes of Israel(Jakob). Why did he say that? Why did I say Jewish Tribes? They are called Jewish only in English, but they are actually called after their 'father' Judah. Like the Levitian are called after their father 'Levi'. Can you explain that?

When talking about birthrights, I would like to point out Rachel was the first wife mutually promised (or covenanted for, as worshipers of Jehovah) by and to Jacob-Israel, and Leah was the second wife so covenanted for. By the end of Jacob's life, Leah's descendant's prominence in the House of Israel is already clear by his own patriarchal prophecies, through Jesse, David and Jesus the Christ. But so is Joseph's with the birthright holder's double portion through Ephraim and Manasseh. Once Jacob finds out (very late in life) Joseph is alive, Jacob doesn't equivocate about where the birthright is going, in fact, he prophetically ignores the "eldest" birthright guideline, setting Ephraim before Manasseh, similarly to what happened between Jacob and his twin brother Esau. (See Gen. 48-50 + JST.) If the firstborn son lost his birthright, like Reuben appears to have done (see Gen. 49 and I Chron. 5: 1-2), then logically it would follow that the birthright would fall to the second born son (Simeon), and to the third (Levi), and to the fourth (Judah), and so on, unless lost or skipped over because of death, disability, rebellion or transgression. Anyway, aware i may be rambling a bit, i reckon my main points here are these: (i) Jacob, least of all before the Lord, didn't get hung up on any birthright rules -- he followed what the Lord told him to do: he pronounced the birthright by prophecy upon Joseph; (ii) Jacob and Rachel were covenanted first to each other before Jacob and Leah were, and before Jacob and his other two wives-concubines; and (iii) perhaps this whole birthright thing at this point on the calendar is a much loose set of guidelines, hopefully subject to the direction of the Lord by the Holy Spirit, rather than a hard and fast set of rules. That would be great if you'd do a video on the birthright -- which, as we know, just meant that Joseph and his two sons got to take care of all those within Israel's household who were too old, or young, or just unable to take care of themselves and lacked some kin close to them to take care of them, including any servants -- hence, the double portion, which Joseph, as vizier in Egypt, already had this role covered for All Israel! :) Thanks very much for this series! Anyone who says, Ephraim is the birthright holder is not understanding what Jacob did in Genesis 48! In the first place, where in scripture does the laying on of hands suggest a birthright is passed on in that way. There's no scripture the says, Abraham & Isaac did it that way. Any understanding of the word " before " never means favor or perfered, it does however mean, " Face or Forward. " Another words that is misrepresent as proofing Jacob gave Ephraim the birthright is " Great & Greater. " These words are verbs in this context not adjectives. (check it out) They mean , " grow, grow-up, increase magnify as make large. Jacob uses this same from of this word in verse 16 when he said. " Let them grow into a multitude... If this idea of Ephraim was to hold the birthright bace on what a lot of people believe, they are going to have a problem because, Joshua chapter 17: 1-2 says the opposite. I also what to point out; when Ephraim is mention he is very seldom mention as the man. Ephraim became a titled for all the Northern Tribe's. When God said, Ephraim was his first born he wasn't referring to the man but a Nation. Read Ezekiel chapter 23 you will see the Northern Kingdom was Samaria the oldest sister. With in that Northern kingdom was Joseph the birthright receptant He received the material blessing of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Two different birthright; one Spiritual the other earthly. I will say one more thing. Genesis 35 will explain what Jacob was doing in 48 that's why he brings up the death of his beloved Rachel.

I am from Asher and live in the USA. There was a girl from the tribe of Dan. Back in the late 70s while I was in an institure classthe teacher asked each of us what tribe we are from. There were some from Manasseh and the rest from Ephraim.

My friend returned from a mission to Russia. During a giant gathering in Moscow, the speaker asked members to stand as she read the list of the 10 tribes. She said that she and her husband just grabbed each other's hand as everyone stood and there were members from every tribe. They are lost no longer.

Great vid! Although Elder Maxwell came to my mission while I was a missionary. He told us we would have the records of the Lost 10 Tribes. He talked as though it was relatively soon and didn’t indicate that we would have to wait for the millennium. I also have a talk he gave at Rick’s College in 1983 where he says those present would live to enjoy those additional scriptures. He references this and other events that would take place before the Second Coming. Give it a listen. Anyway, I’m glad we can all learn together:-)

@@KingPoseidon02 I don't remember what the narrator said about this in the video, but the fact is that Jacob adopted Ephraim and Manasseh, who became 1/2 tribes in place of the tribe of Joseph. Technically there are 13 actual tribes, however by reckoning Ephraim and Manasseh as 1/2 tribes they remained 12 numerically. So it's a fact that the tribes don't exactly correspond with the sons, but that shouldn't be confusing.
@@doxholiday1372 The Twelve Sons of Jacob are the Patriarchs of the Twelve Tribes. Ephraim and Manasseh are two lineages that flow from Joseph. The tribe of Joseph receives a double portion. From Ephraim the Tribe of Joseph is to gather the tribes of Israel to Christ. From Manasseh, the Tribe of Joseph is to witness that Jesus is the Christ.
The only time in the scriptures, Ephraim and Manasseh are not considered the same is when Levi is doing the census report.

There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there's perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. Parley P. Pratt has some interesting information on the location of the 10 Tribes in the Millennial Star, Volume 1, No.10, pp. 257-258, Feb. 1841 question number 7.
Also in Ether 13:11 supports Elder Pratt's statement in giving 5 locations from which they will be gathered.

There most definitely is a tribe of Levi. I know someone who is from that tribe by his Patriarchal blessing. Further, Wendy Nelson tells of an experience meeting someone from every tribe except Levi in Moscow, but then meeting a Levi person the next day in another city in Armenia, I think it was.

There is absolutely a tribe of Levi, they just didn’t inherit land, they were the tribe of priesthood holders who’s inheritance is in the temples

When I was on my mission, one of the other missionaries was from Trinidad and Tobago. Since he did not have a local patriarch at the time in his home branch, he got his patriarchal blessing once he got to the mission field. In his patriarchal blessing he was told he was not part of any tribe of Israel, but was a descendent of Abraham. I wonder how often that has happened?
Well, Abraham did have 8 sons, and those sons had many sons. Even Isaac had 2 sons. Jacob's twin brother Esau took Canaanite wives, so even though his descendants were illegitimate and cursed, even they could claim descent from Abraham.

So the Lost Ten Tribes are only "lost" because they cant be identified because of missing genological records, census records, or other Tribal type records? Is that correct? Makes you wonder what other type of sacred records was lost for the same reasons.

In my very humble opinion, the Second Coming will not be for many years yet. There is much to do. I am 64 years old now, and I believe that I will be long dead before the Second Coming. As I said, just my humble opinion.
You may be right, but think of this: God is hastening his work (we can see it by the number of temples that dot the earth, and the many more that have been announced; the increase in missionary work, the many talks given by General Authorities speaking about preparing ourselves). That's because Satan is hastening HIS work, and we can see that today. I think it may be "right around the corner...."

In a Conference talk in 1916 James Talmage said that there were people present in the congregation that would read the records of the lost 10 tribes. The infants present when he said that are over 100 years of age now. Was he speaking as a prophet or was that his opinion?
Probably refers to translated, or resurrected beings I'm thinking.
Both the Bible and the book of Ether bear witness that humans can live for centuries. Who's to say that a small group of people are not enjoying special longevity that they choose not to share? Based on some of the conversations Jesus had in Jerusalem during his ministry, there was active seeking of water that would enable the drinker to live for a very, very long time.

From what I have learned and studied, I don’t think the verses in Doctrine and Covenants 133 are referring to a specific event. I believe these verses to be “victory imagery”. They are expressing the joy the tribes will feel as they are gathered into The Lord’s church.
We know that the only person on the earth with the keys of the gathering of Israel is the president of The Church. So, it is the church’s responsibility and duty under the direction of the Prophet to gather Israel.
The verses in D&C 133 are referring to the Gathering happening now. It may not seem so miraculous from our current vantage point as described in these verses, but when the work is finished we will share in the feelings and see it as a fulfillment of these verses.
The north countries isn’t referring to a specific place. The only road out of Israel in to Assyria was through a Northern Passage. This has more reference to the direction in which those led captive by Assyria were led.
What about Simeon? I've seen maps that show the Tribe of Simeon in the middle of Judah. Was Simeon absorbed into Judah or carried captive by Asyria?

Joseph Smith taught that the "North Countries" was also the North Star and that part of the planet had been broken off as it was with Enoch and Melckezidek and that the ten tribes were located next to it, i.e. the North Star.

Even though the Jews were scattered thru Europe, Russia, other parts the Middle East, they tended to keep to themselves, both culturally and religiously. The peoples of the countries they were in usually ostracized them, and the Jews themselves didn't want to dilute their chosen lineage. I don't think they're as inter-married as the general population.

The lost ten tribes are innumerable. Imagine how they have multiplied since they were led up north. When they return it will be a spectacular event! They are separate from the scattered tribes of Israel which are those of the remnant who were left behind. I have a pretty good idea as to their whereabouts and will post a podcast on it shortly if anyone is interested. I have been studying up on the legends, ancient stories and maps, histories etc. from around the world on this subject digging up info on the subject over the past 20 years.
I moved from Brazil to England, my DNA is 98 % Iberian. I live near Huddersfield, and last week I discovered an ancestor who lived in the 17th century, and left Portugal to live in Huddersfield! From all places in the world, how odd was that? Then I started to think what would have made this ancestor want to move to a different country, with a different language, Portugal back then was very powerful, it was an empire! So I went to check some history facts, and there was a horrible persecution, jews were forced to convert and were still being killed, by thousands. So probably this ancestor was a new Christian, fled Portugal, and many years after that part of the family went to US, and another part went to Brazil. Some of the americans joined the church and were pioneers. I am guessing that my family's conversion was not a coincidence.
I am not sure that Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh) was part of the lost 10 tribes. When Jesus visited the Nephites he said that he had to visit the other sheep that were separated from Jerusalem, because of their iniquity, meaning the 10 tribes were separated, not dispersed.

Let's look at what happened to the tribes of Israel after going to the north. The Assyrians settled the people in Five cites, one of which was Nineveh. Have you ever wondered why Jonah went to Nineveh? That was the city where the king of Israel and most of the tribe of Ephraim were taken. When the Babylonians conquered Assyria, The Israelites fled from the Babylonians and started their westward trek. Many of them went into the north countries and settled in Scandinavia. The word Gael or Gaul means the people of God. Most of Europe are Israelites. The tribe of Ephraim and the king of Israel, kept moving westward and finally settled in the British Isles, so if you have ancestry from the British Isles you are most likely Ephraim. Jacob's blessing to Joseph was about branches over a wall. The wall turns out to be the Atlantic ocean and the branches over the wall are the descendants of the Lehi, the native Americans who are from Manasseh and then the British invasion of north America. It is also interesting to note that the main group of the tribe of Manasseh settled in Spain, so the Spanish invasion of Mexico and south America was a reunion of the tribe. When we speak of the return of the lost tribes, this has more to do with returning to the God of Israel, than returning to the there ancestral lands, although there may be a group from each tribe that will be represented in the land of Israel. I personally do not feel any attraction to going to the land of Israel. I am here in the Kansas city area waiting to build the new Jerusalem. This is the land of my inheritance.

The members of the 12 tribes returning are the specific 12000 from each tribe.
These are known as the 144000-firstfruits. They will be redeem from the earth, purchased from among man-kind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb.
These are the ones indicated in 1Cor15:22-23 (the order of when God's people are gathered.)
Going by their name sake (firstfruits) they are harvested first. Second (main) harvest is when Yehushua returns after the great tribulation period to gather His faithful followers.
Everybody might be a member of one of the twelve tribes, but the sealing of the specific 12000 from each tribe and them being taken to Israel will constitute the complete formal gathering of Israel.

The fact that remnants of all of the tribes of Israel are found on the earth today does not represent the 'return' and 'restoration' of the Lost 10 tribes as described in the scriptures and our 10th Article of Faith. The 10th Article of Faith separates the gathering of Israel and the restoration of Israel for good reason. The gathering has been underway for almost 200 years, but there will also be a 'hunting' as the 10 Tribes return and assist in finishing the work. The scriptures refer to 'THE' remnant of Jacob many times and the Allegory of the Olive Tree found in Jacob 5 clearly denotes a difference. When reading the scriptures pay close attention to the words being used, between being 'A' remnant and 'THE' remnant. When you see 'THE' remnant of Jacob talked about, it is the 'The Lost 10 Tribes'. Study 3 Nephi and you will see that Christ distinctly identifies 3 separate groups. He speaks of the House of Judah, which rejected Him. They were blind and did not ask to understand so the Father told Christ not to mention the Lost 10 Tribes. All that they were told was that there were other sheep not of the Judean fold. The Nephites were told that they were those He had referenced to Judah, but then the Lord reveals to the Nephites that He has been commanded of the Father to tell them of the lost tribes and that He must go visit them. I believe the Lord revealed this to the Nephites so that we would understand today what this means. Carefully study specifically the books of Daniel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Jacob, 3 Nephi and Revelations to learn what has been revealed. The book "A Remnant Shall Return - A Study of the Restoration of the House of Israel" by Michael Rush is a good study guide as well. I hope this will encourage further study about this fascinating part of the Lord's plan for the House of Israel and the redemption of Zion.

You're mixing up scattered Israel and the Lost Tribes of Israel. Scattered Israel is the diffused Israelites who mixed with the people in the northern latitudes. The Lost Tribes are a distinct group who are no longer on this planet. They reside on a sphere that was called The Land of the North, not the land to the north. The term Land of the North is used in the way God told Moses there were other lands (planets) that were inhabited. They will return to the northern polar areas, which is why their return is described as ice being melted and a great highway being in the deep aiding their return. Joseph Smith has talked about this, but it is ignored because members of the church are embarrassed by the truth and prefer the more "rational", worldly, explanation.

The "times of the gentiles" was said to happen at the time of "wrath to this people", referring to those living in the time of the disciples. The days of vengeance spoken of in Luke 21:22 says "these are the days of vengeance", meaning those days when the disciples were given this word. The "times of the gentiles" occurred in the 1st century AD, it is not in our future as it was in the disciples' days.
Also, this passage from Luke 21:22-24 does not speak of the return of the tribes whatsoever. The scattering of the people of Israel is clear but not their return. It is obvious from the context that this refers to the Roman invasion of the land of Israel and its total destruction in the Judeo-Roman war of 66-73 AD. This is a well known fact.

Zechariah is speaking to those who hear his voice in those days in Zech. 8:9 but he specifically addressed who those people are in Zech. 8:13 "And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong." This indicates to us that both the Northern and Southern tribes are present. This is further supported in the beginning of the very next chapter which states: "The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, are toward the LORD." (Zech. 9:1)

3. Ezekiel says that the return of the tribes was "soon" to occur in his days. He was in captivity and the Lord told him to say this: "But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come. For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown: And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded". The repetition of "all" in the last sentence is to further emphasize that this will indeed be all of Israel, not just a part.
4. In both Ezra 6:17 and 8:35 the mention is made that 12 goats were being offered for each of the 12 tribes of Israel as a sin offering. This ritual is that same as that found in Numbers chapter 7 in which each of the leaders of the 12 tribes had to be present to offer the goat corresponding to its tribe. Ezra is an historical book that records the events of those in the Babylonian captivity returning to the land of Israel with each of the 12 tribes attributed as having their respective leader, and respective tribe present.
I listened to Hyrum Andrus speak on the Times of the Gentiles. He said they were already fulfilled and used Like 21:24. He said this was fulfilled when the Jews took back control of Mt Moriah in the 60s. Whether it’s true or not, it was interesting.

One would have to ignore a great deal of scripture and words of the prophets to accept the 10th article of faith is peaking of one event and not two seperate. . Arent the cities of Salam and Enoch supposed to return? Why would it be so difficult to imagine the remnant of the 10 tribes also ‘returning’? I look back on a dream that heated up the brothers of Joseph, as well as 10 verses in section 88 of D and C, for answers. The Ensign holds even more mysteries, looking back to Oct 1975, an article called ‘A Strange thing in the Land’, part 1 of a few written by Hugh Nibley.

In the Bible Dictionary under the heading Israel, Kingdom of; it says that the northern kingdom (which consisted of all ten tribes) was also known as Ephriam. I like to imagine that those who are pronounced as being from the tribe of Ephriam likely have the DNA of most or all of the ten northern tribes; and that those who have a more pure lineage might have a more specific lineage--being given a more specific name (such as Dan, Naphtali, etc.).
Tribes of levi means are the posterity of levi by blood and they are temples keeper. Because some of the people today are either adopted or by blood. So I was thinking that there is a lost tribe, like there is a race of people that are not aware of the world outside like us, and they will be freed and make a journey to Zion. And the math doesn’t make sense to me.
My theory:
The lost tribes have leaders who were never "lost" to themselves. They migrated north and east out of the Levant region after the Babylonians started to take over.
Like the Jewish leaders--who if you look closely at 1&2 Kings and the 4 Gospels, were hiding biochemistry-related pearls of science from the general public and engaging in questionable alliances to protect their own power/wealth structure--the lost tribes have some leaders who have sometimes been active behind the scenes in directing the affairs of the lands in which they came to live. The house of Judah is two tribes, the Jewish tribes. The house of Jakob(who received a new name by God, called Isreal) is 10 tribes.
This is why Jesus said don't go to the Jews nor to the Samarians(Why?), rather go to the 10 tribes of Israel(Jakob). Why did he say that?
Why did I say Jewish Tribes? They are called Jewish only in English, but they are actually called after their 'father' Judah.
Like the Levitian are called after their father 'Levi'.

John Hyrcanus I, (born c. 175 BC-died 104 BC), high priest and ruler of the Jewish nation from 135/134 to 104 BC. Under his reign the Hasmonean kingdom of Judaea in ancient Palestine attained power and great prosperity, and the Pharisees, a scholarlysect with popular backing, and the Sadducees, an aristocratic sect that comprised the priesthood, became well-defined religious parties.
Hyrcanus was the youngest son of Simon Maccabeus and thus a member of the Hasmonean dynasty (so-called after an ancestor named Hasmoneus). In 137 BC he and his brother Judas commanded the force that heroically repelled the invasion of Judaea led by Cendebeus, the general of the Syrian king Antiochus VII Sidetes. In 135 Hyrcanus’ brother-in-law, Ptolemy, the governor of Jericho, assassinated Hyrcanus’ father and two elder brothers; Hyrcanus then succeeded to the high priesthood and the supreme authority in Judaea. The remainder of Hyrcanus’ reign was marked by his efforts to punish his enemies, ward off the Syrians, and enlarge Judaea’s boundaries. Although he struggled in vain to destroy Ptolemy, he successfully thwarted Syrian incursions by alliance with Rome and conquered the unfriendly neighbouring territories of Samaria and Idumaea (Edom). He forced Idumaea to convert to Judaism.
His grandson Hyrcanus the II was put into power by General Pompey of the Roman Government. He sought help from an Arab chieftain named Antipater, who was from nearby Idumaea (Edom) and the head of a family called the Herods, founder of the Herodian Dynasty. He would undertake Hyrcanus the II rule and with Rome approval and become King of Judea under the leadership of Rome. The Idumaean was the father of Herod the Great, the Roman client king of Judea, who gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under.
When talking about birthrights, I would like to point out Rachel was the first wife mutually promised (or covenanted for, as worshipers of Jehovah) by and to Jacob-Israel, and Leah was the second wife so covenanted for. By the end of Jacob's life, Leah's descendant's prominence in the House of Israel is already clear by his own patriarchal prophecies, through Jesse, David and Jesus the Christ. But so is Joseph's with the birthright holder's double portion through Ephraim and Manasseh. Once Jacob finds out (very late in life) Joseph is alive, Jacob doesn't equivocate about where the birthright is going, in fact, he prophetically ignores the "eldest" birthright guideline, setting Ephraim before Manasseh, similarly to what happened between Jacob and his twin brother Esau. (See Gen. 48-50 + JST.) If the firstborn son lost his birthright, like Reuben appears to have done (see Gen. 49 and I Chron. 5: 1-2), then logically it would follow that the birthright would fall to the second born son (Simeon), and to the third (Levi), and to the fourth (Judah), and so on, unless lost or skipped over because of death, disability, rebellion or transgression.
Anyway, aware i may be rambling a bit, i reckon my main points here are these: (i) Jacob, least of all before the Lord, didn't get hung up on any birthright rules -- he followed what the Lord told him to do: he pronounced the birthright by prophecy upon Joseph; (ii) Jacob and Rachel were covenanted first to each other before Jacob and Leah were, and before Jacob and his other two wives-concubines; and (iii) perhaps this whole birthright thing at this point on the calendar is a much loose set of guidelines, hopefully subject to the direction of the Lord by the Holy Spirit, rather than a hard and fast set of rules.
That would be great if you'd do a video on the birthright -- which, as we know, just meant that Joseph and his two sons got to take care of all those within Israel's household who were too old, or young, or just unable to take care of themselves and lacked some kin close to them to take care of them, including any servants -- hence, the double portion, which Joseph, as vizier in Egypt, already had this role covered for All Israel! :) Thanks very much for this series! Anyone who says, Ephraim is the birthright holder is not understanding what Jacob did in Genesis 48! In the first place, where in scripture does the laying on of hands suggest a birthright is passed on in that way. There's no scripture the says, Abraham & Isaac did it that way.
Any understanding of the word " before " never means favor or perfered, it does however mean, " Face or Forward. "
Another words that is misrepresent as proofing Jacob gave Ephraim the birthright is " Great & Greater. " These words are verbs in this context not adjectives. (check it out) They mean , " grow, grow-up, increase magnify as make large. Jacob uses this same from of this word in verse 16 when he said. " Let them grow into a multitude... If this idea of Ephraim was to hold the birthright bace on what a lot of people believe, they are going to have a problem because,
Joshua chapter 17: 1-2 says the opposite.
I also what to point out; when Ephraim is mention he is very seldom mention as the man. Ephraim became a titled for all the Northern Tribe's. When God said, Ephraim was his first born he wasn't referring to the man but a Nation. Read Ezekiel chapter 23 you will see the Northern Kingdom was Samaria the oldest sister.
With in that Northern kingdom was Joseph the birthright receptant He received the material blessing of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Two different birthright; one Spiritual the other earthly.
I will say one more thing. Genesis 35 will explain what Jacob was doing in 48 that's why he brings up the death of his beloved Rachel.
