      Boy you showed some disrespect to valley fair. I went to six’s flag and it was shit. Rides were jerky, rides broke down, rides turned me down to glaucoma issues which valley fair accommodated for. And aka made sure were safe for me to ride. And I know my glaucoma restictiona due to I was born with it. Maybe I’m biased because I grew up with it but valley fair was the best park I’ve been too

      @@elizabethlevenhagen8126 yikes!😲....very sorry about your medical condition. I too have a medical condition, it's different than you, but every day is a new challenge and struggle, but your comment was a little harsh. I'm not sure what six flags park you've been too, but sounds like just a very bad day and experience. I've been to several six flags parks and they have all been great. I grew up with neither a six flags or cedar fair park, so when I went to Six Flags parks, it was always a huge step up. Valley fair looks like a nice little park, but doesn't compare to most other Six Flags or Cedar Fair parks. Hope you are feeling well.

    100% agree with your Wild Thing review. I used to think it was pretty cool until I got on Magnum... The trim brakes *always* bite that hard.
    You experienced Renegade in bad conditions. It takes a lot longer to warm up than the other coasters plus the orange train runs significantly slower and rougher than the blue train.

    Shakopee is pronounced "SHOCK-o-pee," like the shock of me learning that Valleyfair actually has something rare in the hold breaks on Steel Venom! I remember the ads for when it first opened and my cousin was super hyped for it. Meanwhile my timid butt has literally screamed my way off of the hecking ferris wheel there because the gondola was rocking...
    Glad that the log flume impressed, though! That has to be my favorite ride between the grand total of two parks I've been to between VF and MoA.

  • @6484373

    Must've been a slow ride on Wild Thing, usually there is some pretty good airtime on those hills going back to the station. Sometimes they don't even use the trim brakes and then you really go flying out of your seat.

  • @nerdlaw
    @nerdlaw 5 лет назад +19

    Fun to see your perspective in this video. I worked there about 25 years ago. As much as I like it, it's not really a great destination park. Those final hills on wild thing can be intense, but definitely a lot of braking going on. The looping starship is gone now. Too bad, it was one of my favorites. I wish they would, but it doesn't seem too likely that they'll ever get a big new coaster.

So being up 200 or so feet was what we did daily. So the height of wild thing wasn't an issue. Good coaster the corkscrew however broke down 3/4 of the way thru the loop. The All That theme song made me nostalgic. Love the use of that SpongeBob clip, from the same episode the ride is based on even!

    It took me a LONG time to wrap my head around parks these size. I grew up 45 minutes from Cedar Point. So it took quite a while to imagine a park that didn’t have insane coasters at every corner.

    There what a short time in the late 90s early 2000 when Cedar Fair operated the Park Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America. Camp Snoopy was the original name of the park before it was Nickelodeon Universe. They gave me free passes to Valley Fair for being an operator at the Mall of America. I know Valleyfair seemed to have more mild rides but I enjoyed that it was a smaller Park and the lines weren't nearly as bad as other big parks.

    I drove from Orlando to Carowinds by myself earlier this year. It took 36 hours. Totally worth it. I didn’t mind going by myself - it seemed like in every line there were other enthusiasts to make friends with. Gotta get the credits man. Good times!

    Flooding? Yeah, Valleyfair is located in the Minnesota River valley, not far from the river and the lakes & ponds that dot the river course. In hindsight, it was built too close to the river (built in 1978?)--during "heavy rain" years, Renegade, Excalibur, and the parking lots can all get flooded. Last year (2019-very heavy rain), the parking lot was still flooded in August (but not the coasters). And its "mild" rating of coasters? Yeah, I'd agree except for Renegade--definitely much better the later the season gets. My second favorite is Wild Thing. Some of the rides I loved are no longer there, unfortunately (Huss Enterprise, for instance, and the Looping Starship was removed at the end of 2019). With the water park being integrated with the rest of the park (way back when, it was an "extra charge" attraction, now it's included with admission) that can be a great way to cool off, and the slides are decent. As for the ride operators being less than enthusiastic? I've noticed that, but they also hire a lot of foreigners (college students, I presume) who might not have a penchant for faking said enthusiasm. ;) Having to say the same announcement over & over again would get quite exhausting, IMO. lol Someone else mentioned that Valleyfair lives up to the description of MN - Mild. Agreed--I wish they would add more coasters although I am unsure how much land they have to build on, especially given its proximity to a river that's prone to flooding.

    That's nuts -- I was there the day before you. I had a business trip to Minneapolis, and I stopped by the Mall of America on the way to the airport before I left. Sadly, I couldn't stay an extra day to get Valley Fair.
