- There are several aftermarket antennas out there for the Uniden sds-100, today we'll talk about the 2022 REMTronix antenna options, specifically fitment. *Note the older 810S and 842S may NOT fit the SDS100, your mileage may vary.
thank you for the video
Any performance comparison for the 843/842 compared to the stock antenna?
I'm finding the 842s to be actually worse than the uniden stock antenna
I don't own the 842, but according to remtronix, the 843 has the same guts as the 842 but with the added flex-angle connector available in both sma and bnc connectors. my plan was to test these antennas in a separate future video using a nano VNA to show the smith chart or at least the SWR plot in the designed frequency range. even tho these are scanner/receive antennas, the swr plot will show which frequency the antenna has the best resonance i.e. where it will hear the best. Some preliminary testing without the VNA shows mixed results between the 810/820 vs the 842/843. I'll post a video soon with or without the VNA by simply choosing a VHF, UHF, and 700/800/900MHz control channel and comparing the dBm between the two antennas, and also the stock antenna.
Same here too.
Thank you!!
Will any of these work on my cheap Uniden BC 125AT ?
no, the sds100 uses an SMA connector, you have a BNC. make sure you select the proper antenna for whatever frequency you are trying to listen to.
It's great that the antenna is water resistant, but if the side connector cover gets damaged, there is no replacement available.
You mean the side rubber grommet that covers the USB Ports?
Uniden used to have a flat Rate fee of $90 dollars to repair the sds100. they won't sell individual parts.
You can buy them all and solder them together into one *super antenna.*
@@iyeetsecurity922 I was going to put them all on a metal helmet and walk around costco
@@morejelloplease Capital idea chap! Looking forward to the video of your results!
I have the old Radio Shack 800mhz, I see no difference between it and the new 842s by Rem. Save your money. My area is on p25 1 and 2, they also use some old style stuff. They are both slightly better than the original rubber duck. If you have the 800mhz from the shack, it’s basically the same as new 842s. I’m in Chicagoland area.
@@theguuchful yup they are the same, even the same orange :)
@@morejelloplease i wish I would have saved my 30 bucks. This is why I’m poor. Sucks!
Wanna get a 842s we’ll see
I bought this and compared with all my other antennas...this one performed terrible. DOnt buy. Best for me on both VHF UHF was long antenna from Diamond.
Back to the drawing board Remtronix
Which one? The diamond rh77ca is a 1/4 wave on vhf and not much will out perform that antenna, only problem is it's not really practical it almost 18 in long, And can stress your BNC or SMA connector. Believe it or not the 800 MHz version of the remtronicx antenna receives really well on vhf but if you actually have a transceiver and need to transmit on vhf then you obviously cannot use that antenna as you will damage your radio.
What band did you test it on. I have both the diamond and the 820s. Haven't tried the 843S. The 820S is meant for 800mhz the diamond is all around but it's huge. I want to see a dB showdown between the diamond the 820s and the 843s. On 800 and vhf. I'll search ypur videos and see if you did that test. The 820s wins for me on the 800 when I tried it.
@@morejelloplease 820s. My SDS100 refuses to transmit :D.
@@extrememiami All bands. I had better performance all around with stock ant. The best performance for me was a stoopid ant folded up one off amazon at $20 made to look like a folded over low-band Army radio antenna. Cheesy. Also good, yes was the diamond rh77ca.. They did not do too hot on 800 but overall that was the best of all bands.

Sierra.
Sam
Sugar.....lol...... It's Sierra.....
Or is Sam. If you we're a ham operator you'd know the reference.
@@morejelloplease No. NATO-Alphabet is Sierra. End of story.

This needs to be standard all over the world.
I wish they made one that looked like the stock antenna, i hate how the remtronix always bend
nobody cares if it seals or not they care if it works you know what it picks up
Some people do care if it SEALS or not because the radio is weather resistant and if you compromise the seal and get water in there and it shits the bed then you're SOL.
I care, I’d be livid if my $650 scanner got toasted from something as simple as my antenna not sealing properly
It's a shame your English teacher didn't care about you.
@Rob Malford it's a shame your parents didn't care about you because if they did they would have taught you some manners.
I see his point though, if you're in terrible weather and wind and rain and and sharks and sand and tornados! flee!! flee!! Don't take my 800 dollar damn radio into that area. There's plenty of other "holes" on the scanner too. Just take the o-ring off the other antenna as solution? Not sure if that would work lol.
