+MYTHICALTWINKIE Marty did play an integral role in a breathtaking soundtrack, but that's no reason to try and squash the enthusiasm of those that still enjoyed the video.
+jay bake Don't worry, these comments are usually made by kids who just follow what everyone says on the internet and have absolutely no idea how the game industry actually works =P Which is why these videos are actually important! Would love to see more behind the scenes stuff so everyone (especially the Mr Satoru's of the world) could really see what goes into making games =)
+Shadow Wulf Gaming I agree. Destiny had the best sound design out of every game that I have played. It always sounds so amazing (except when Omnigul is around)
The Destiny Audio team needs a round of applause for the great work they have done. Destiny is one thing with its content. The audio though. Makes it even greater to enjoy. Good job guys!
No mention of Martin O'Donnell, who wrote the music and then got fired and then won you a DICE award for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design?
it was Activision's choice and he was disruptive through that years E3 si he was fired a whole year after they pulled his creation from a trailer. you think bungie would want that for someone who was with them for over twenty years?
Just watching this video made me remember all the things that made me fall in love with this game. I cant wait for new content. Bungie I am still here and dedicated even though i am not playing every day. Please bring back SRL as a monthly event spaced between iron banner.
Bungie, honestly, you uploading these audio ViDocs is my favourite thing. I'm aspiring to be a sound designer or composer for video games, and what you show me hear just makes me work harder. Thank you for writing incredible music and making incredible sounds.
I usually don't watch videos like this but I'm currently doing a music assignment and chose to do my paper on destiny and I'm glad I did cause of how unique the whole process is
I wish more of the world played this awesome game. God and to the musician that says, "At least I know it's there, but i'm sure there are times when you can't hear it over the explosions and guns." To him I say to you, there's never a time in Destiny, where you are fighting your ass off, the experience is epic, and you DON'T notice the music. I'm telling you, i'm very music motivated. And this game gets you pumped off its music...every fight, every track, and you will have your favorites. I have an album of favorites from this game. The wolves of Mars theme, the Cabal Shield Brothers theme, Taniks the Scarred theme, and now the Rise of Iron stuff...the Archpriest, Eyes Up Remix, Efrideet theme omg...and the basic Rise of Iron theme is just gold. This was wonderfully interesting and I am such a huge fan of the music of Destiny, probably more so than the game. The actors! The speaker is from Harry Potter and Hitchhikers Guide.
My fave song without a doubt goes to my fave alien race to fight, The Cabal. Hell, even their sound design. Hearing the war drums of "Cabal Stomp", the grunts and growls as they attack, the clanking of their armour as they move. It all makes them feel visceral and imposing. A true force to be feared. And just think...we STILL haven't faced the true might of the empire yet. Scary thought indeed.
i'd love a video solely on the voice actors. kinda interesting how they move and stand while they do the voices the postmaster and bounty tracker's voice actor and their professional simple stances. Lord Shaxx's voice actor and how intense he sounds. would love to see him voice 'i....i've been watching too many crucible matches'. Petra Venj and her condescending way she speaks to the guardians. XUR'S VOICE ACTOR AND HIS WEIRD HAND MOVEMENTS 10/10.
Why am I just now seeing this in 2021? Both Destiny games are sonically, the best game ever. Bungie has a great gift for putting cool stories and awesome music in their games.
Fantastic editing quality, real meaningful content. Well done to both the entire music and sound team involved, and also the team involved in making this Vid-Doc! Please keep more like this coming!
7:27 Lennie James is the actor that plays Morgan in The Walking Dead in case some of you didn't know. And yes, he isn't American unlike some might assume after seeing him on The Walking Dead.
This really feels like an effort to make people understand just how complicated making video games is, and how much time and effort is put in. There were a few parts in the video which almost seemed like Bungie saying "come on, please, this stuff is hard, give us a break with all the hate." For me, they succeeded. I now have a greater understanding and appreciation for the work that they have put in to Destiny.
Amazing the genius of the programmers and the hard work it must have taken into finding all the sounds and the orchestra making some screeching noises they probably never did. Wow.
i honestly love you guys. the most important thing to me in any videogame is the sounds, and the music i hear when playing this game, ttk, ROI... its amazing. i looooovve the music in this game, and the sounds i hear when shooting guns are all unique feeling.... i just love it so much. you made me move from halo to destiny and im gonna be here till this ends
That was really well edited! Considering the subject matter could have been approached in a very clinical & technical manner it actually seems more cinematic & engrossing.
Oh my god. Looking at the voice actors and actresses in this video seriously left me in awe :O Especially the voice behind variks. I thought someone had to have their voice altered in order to produce such unique sounding dialogue :O
They already had one. You remember when Iron Banner was around in December and no one did any maintenance on the game for about a month or and a half and then everything got glitchy with their game, i.e. floating bodies, laggy as hell games, etc? Yeah, they don't deserve another vacation after that nonsense.
I just noticee but, where they showed were they were shooting their guns out in Las Vegas, but the soundtrack in the backround was the Sepik Redux for ROI and this was made way b4 ROI was announced
Not sure if many people say this but the music is amazing... I always get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I hear this great music on the title screen, it's what makes a game complete to me and I absolutely love it
Whoa never would have guessed that this much thought process and creativity goes into the making for just one game this whole department of people went through hell and back but did one one helluva job in making some of the most kickass music i've ever heard for any game imo great job Bungie ;)!
Hey where's Marty O'Donnell?.... your main lead on music and sound?.... Oh yeah you fired him so you could shut him up and try to take his share of the company and then you got wrecked in court. LMAO
uh yeah, it was lol cuz without him they wouldn't have any of this. although I will say the rest of the audio team is probably very talented. I was really taking a swipe at the heads of Bungie, not the people who had nothing to do with the debacle.
volleyballguy1991 Yeah I know, but I just hate seeing Martin o Donnell's name slandered across just bc you don't like that the bungie execs did. I just really hope Bungie recovers from this and continues to make great games, imo.
+Circle Of Tyrants how in the world is Marty's name being slandered??? I don't think that word means what you think it means especially since you don't 'slandered across' you slander. I would love for bungie to return to their old ways, but calling them on their BS is a bad thing now?
Have to say the vidoc was brilliant. Past bungie twitch broadcasts have been a little disappointing but this was a changer. I loved seeing the different people involved in the sounds of destiny. The whole thing was really really good. It's a pity it took them so long to get this out. More of this please bungie.
Bungie, thanks for ViDocs such as this and all of the other ones that precede it. It is truly wonderful to see all of the amazing talent behind Destiny. The sound and music really make this game an amazing emotional journey - without it the beauty and amazing fun Destiny is would just be an empty soul. It is so integral to the fantastic and beautiful world you have created in Destiny! I have been a solid addict since my first hands on at E3 in 2014!
+Jose Almeda He intentionally got himself fired by acting like an ass, because Activision were being massive cunts. His contract said he would lose his shares if he quit, but he didn't want to stay since he already made the music and Activision wasn't letting him do anything else (like trailer music etc. that he was used to being a part of) so he disrupted the workplace to get himself fired, and then sued to make sure they gave him his shares even so.
It's very satisfying to watch this and instantly know the song they're playing in the background. I was just like "That's Cabal Stomp right there." and "They overlayed The Hive on top of Sepiks Prime and thought I wouldn't notice." Great job on the music guys. :)
I've always been interested in this "making of" stuff; it's really cool. Although I strongly disagree with a lot of their development decisions and absolutely detest the way they've handled the game thus far, it's cool that they feature the guys who are actually doing a good job. The art, sound, etc. teams do great work; it's a shame luke smith and jon weisnewski are bringing the game down.
Thank you all for giving us a once in a lifetime experience. everything from the feel of the environment to the absolute epic music took me on an amazing rollercoaster of emotions!
I agree it's so amazing how a company can go above and beyond and create this amazing game that we as players love and enjoy every single day. I can't wait to see what else bungie has in store for us.
I just watched the Halo 3 Legendary BTS discs yesterday and Bungie still has such a character to them, like many great devs do. Don't ever lose your creative spirit, Bungie. :)
To be honest, the whole sound team is doing awesome job. The game is very polished when it comes to audio quality, flawless. Of all the things people can complain about destiny, sound is never a subject.
