IMO, Molotows are higher quality than Posca pens, but if you live in the US, they cost a little over twice as much as Posca pens, but they are refillable so it’s kinda justifiable.
no they don't, they're literally the same price... I googled it and you can get a 16 pack of poscas for $30 or a set of 6 of the Molotow all4one pens for $30
Paper is pretty bad for paint pens, they get cloaked of paper pills, however paper for Acryllics work, The beauty is they work on wood, concrete and canvas, vinyl plastic. And Molotow is definely of my favourite brand for paint pens.
Inker's Tales oh for sure, they’re not meant for paper but I use them for paper so can’t fault them there! I should try them on wood or something different.
@@TheAverageArtist If you put down a thin coat of gesso or acrylic down first, They, poscas, or most other paint pens work like a dream! Bit of a hassle but hey It's worth it!
You can put the smaller or bigger nibs in the pens you already have so there's no need to buy multiples of the same colour. They also have empty ones so you can just fill it with whatever colour liquid acrylic you like. I definitely think they're better than poscas seeing as they're refillable. Also about the paper pilling, I've personally never had this happen so I could be wrong on what causes it, but it could be from being too heavy handed with them? Once the paint is flowing you barely need touch them to the paper for it to make a mark. The nibs are quite rough so it would make sense that they would damage the paper, especially when going back and forth over a single area.
Roezu that could be it because I do press quite hard! I’ll try an ease up and see if that helps! Thanks for the tips. I didn’t know about the nibs being interchangeable; that is very good to know! :D
Roezu Both these and Posca pill the paper (Posca in particular are renown for it) I’m not heavy handed but paper still pills. It’s a mixture of the paint being abrasive and the nibs being very abrasive, coupled with chemicals. Both these and posca were made for street art, where pilling isn’t an issue so is not a consideration for the developers/manufacturing process at the moment.
@@Kyomiibrown The chemical that causes it is called water. And neither is made for street art. Molotow has lines that are for graffiti, but one4all isn't.
Their chrome is insanely shiny and reflective......most silver type pens are either dull or have large prticles that make slight ripples in the colour but the molotow chrome is honestly amasing and well worth the price......if you only buy one pen from this brand make it the chrome and you won't be dissapointed. The Molotow's are designed for graffitti artists so the nibs and pens themselves should take more of a beating than the poscas. They also wont rub of things as easily if at all like the poscas as they are supposed to be removed with soapy water. Also on a side note: it's best not to use these on paper but instead use them on some sort of primed board such as wood primed with acrylic paint, plastic board, mettal or even the glass from a cheap photo frame.......the outcome will be a lot smoother as these materials won't pill like paper does. if however you want to draw on paper for whatever reason then try a good quality bristol board as it is very smooth and designed for markers, airbrushing and general graphical artwork where a sooth base is needed.
I was thinking while watching your paper pilling that mixed media paper should work. I’ve used poscas on mine and I’ve no pilling issues at all. Also got the skrawler box for May and oh my goodness the Chrome pen is absolutely amazing. It made glass look like metal (well chrome) great work. Loving these pens. So off to shop on line.
Personally I apply 1-2 thin layers of gesso before working with paint markers on paper. Completely eliminates pilling and extends the working time of the paint so that you can blend and get smooth gradients! :)
I love Molotov Markers. Even more so than Poscas. The colors are a little more earth and they sell blanks that allow you to mix your own colors. I find that render paper works well with them. Now peeling.
Being new to your channel, I’m already fascinated by your content and learning more about the materials you use. Also, I love your artwork. There is a game currently in developement called "Marshmellow Day Spa" (by ILLUMINE games). It's still super early in developement, but there is a game jam version already out to try (it was made in 3 days tho, so it's not comparable to the real final product). It has a Discord, Twitter etc and the idea is pretty similar to your bath house simulator. Just that you make cute chocolate spas for tiny marshmellow people instead of being a real bath house :)
Oh wow this art is gorgeous! I've never come across these Molotow paint pens before. Great review, and I'll say it again, GORGEOUS art. I really do love this piece of art, it is so aesthetically pleasing!
ooh the piece came out quite nice! i can relate to the "this is fine" response to a wonky line or wrong color. im always like "yes i definitely meant to do that" so i don't cry 😅
Very cute. I bet the paint pads for acrylic paintings would work great for these. They are available in the paper isles of art stores, & am sure online as well. But, you probably new that already. TYFS
I got these recently too and love them! My one qualm with them as opposed to Poscas is that if you don't shake them really thoroughly before using them, especially the darker colours, there is a shift in colour that causes it to look streaky if you're doing large areas of one colour. Other than that I really like them, and use them alongside my poscas.
I love Spirited Away so much!!!! It’s my favorite movie of all time, but I don’t have a DVD player so I can’t watch it 😭. Anyways I was so happy to see ur drawing of the bathhouse!!!
I really love these Paint Markers one of my fav. Most of the time I use these and Posca Paint Markers in my illustrations.👏 Cute illustration you did with them.

Your drawing looks awesome. I love the color theme. Bath House Simulator is a really good idea for a game, I think. I like playing such simulator games. They make a lot of fun.
I love the game you came up with! I hope someone makes it 😍 Also have a couple colours of the pens, but the green I have separates really easily and I have a hell of a time trying to get it to mix properly again 😭 Other than that they seem like really good paint markers and the range of colours are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing more of what you do with them!

i have a few of these pens, although i bought some neon colours and they're awful!!!i've tried shaking them and shaking them and theyre just so watery and not opaque at all!! the metallic are awesome, i guess i should try some of the more basic colours :-)
No sé si entiendes español, pero déjame decirte que molotow es superior en todo aspecto a posca, hablas de los marcadores posca en tu vídeo, y si son parecidos, pero molotow tiene una calidad mucho mayor, en pintura, accesorios y recargas.
The pens looks nice and vibrant and I love how your artwork turned out. Loved the color combinations. Also, when you mentioned a bath house game, I thought about a game I used to play. Not exactly a bath house but I think its the same?! Hahahaha. It’s called “Animal Hot Springs” if you’re interested. 😁 Sunscribed. 😁
Paint pens aren’t meant for paper. They’re better on surfaces that aren’t pulpy like wood or canvas. If you really want to use paper, maybe try a clear layer of glue as a prep base?
I have wanted Posca pens for as long as I can remember, now I want these but they're $50-$60 for only 10 which is really expensive for me. Are Posca pens still worth it as a cheaper alternative?
Depends. Posca pens are pretty decent for most things. Crafts and such mostly. A lot of people use Belton Molotow markers for graffiti and graffiti related projects
IMO, Molotows are higher quality than Posca pens, but if you live in the US, they cost a little over twice as much as Posca pens, but they are refillable so it’s kinda justifiable.

Maybe try marker paper with those pens. It has a smoother texture and the paint should lay on the surface similar to the tracing paper.

They have no odor. The Belton Molotow cans have odor due to the thinned paint and propellant mixture but the acrylic paint markers have zero odor
omg i would LOVED to play a bathhouse simulator D:
You forgot "simulator" under the name. Other than that I love the drawing and the way you pulled through! I'm definitely giving you a subscribe. Glad I found your channel.❤
I know, kicked myself afterwards. I think my brain just blocked it out so I didnt mess it up some how hahaha thank you and welcome!
Are they lightfast? The Posca ones are, but these seem like a nice alternative... if they're lightfast.
UV resistance is lightfastness
My Molotow pens leak from the sides of the nib, and no paint comes out from the tip of the nib. What am I doing wrong ?!
Uff Even in Germany they cost a lot xD that pack in Amazon Germany cost 32.37€ (each pen costing 5.40 which is basically Copic Marker price)
This helps me fall asleep. Thank you
i have a few of these pens, although i bought some neon colours and they're awful!!!i've tried shaking them and shaking them and theyre just so watery and not opaque at all!! the metallic are awesome, i guess i should try some of the more basic colours :-)
You should try canvas paper/sheets
What paper did you use? (Sorry if you said in the video and I missed it!) And do these markers also make "little bits" all over the way posca pens do?
I would play that game in a HEARTBEAT
No sé si entiendes español, pero déjame decirte que molotow es superior en todo aspecto a posca, hablas de los marcadores posca en tu vídeo, y si son parecidos, pero molotow tiene una calidad mucho mayor, en pintura, accesorios y recargas.
Hey! I would like to know what sketch book you use! It looks nice!
Ive got to get me some of these
Try sketching in a wax based coloured pencil
I find less things smudge with them
My mind was completely blank before I heard harvest moon and stardew valley. Had to restart the video because of it. It got me excited.
leo banares OMG I need to check out that game! Sounds like animal crossing mixed with my fake game 😂 thanks for the kind words too ! :)
The Average Artist not exactly Animal Crossing. Hahaha. But if you know Neko Atsume, its like that. You just wait for the animals to come. Hahahaha
How do you make things look so damn pretty
Aw thanks !
This is beautifulll.
Paint pens aren’t meant for paper. They’re better on surfaces that aren’t pulpy like wood or canvas. If you really want to use paper, maybe try a clear layer of glue as a prep base?
Lmao one for all 😂😂 bnha reference I’m sorry
I have wanted Posca pens for as long as I can remember, now I want these but they're $50-$60 for only 10 which is really expensive for me. Are Posca pens still worth it as a cheaper alternative?
Depends. Posca pens are pretty decent for most things. Crafts and such mostly. A lot of people use Belton Molotow markers for graffiti and graffiti related projects
there was a tiny gap in one of the lines
Where were they purchased from?
would you be able to use these on glass? because if so, then you could get some cool affects
I think you can use them on glass... I don’t know what I’d do but it sounds fun! :D
I've used molotows, but for graffiti, the company makes very high quality paints, and is big in the graff scene
Yeah, I only heard about them because I got into graffiti. Definitely the best paint pens I’ve used so far
