Grandpa Cavendish gave me a heads up on this interview. Very well done and I was very interested in Dirk's thoughts on pipes and the differences in the Geographic markets. Also, THANKS DIRK! you made my day and thank you my friend for putting the effort into this well done video. Enjoyed it immensely. :)
A pleasure to see you active again after a while, Prof. Mark!
I don't know but there's somthin' about all of your videos which make them to have healing powers! So smooth and serene! ... and addicitve ;-)
Enjoyed it a lot.
Happy pipe smokin'!
I just heard about the show on your video now, and read about the Chicago Pipe Show cancellation. I'm new to this hobby, and live only a few hours away from Chicago. It would have been great to meet Dirk there. He could have hand delivered my pipe to me there. I've commissioned an Eskimo pipe from one of the greatest pipe makers that I've found so far in my newfound hobby. Thanks Dirk!
Thanks so much Mark for introducing me to Dirk, through your video channel of course.
Hi Mark: Really good to see you, and a great interview with Dirk. As I've said in the past...you do these very well. Should you decide, one day, to move on from Professorship...you'd make a fine late-night talk show host. You could give Dave Letterman "a run for his money". I bet the Larsens 155, and a Krombacher, made a nice pairing. Thanks again for a fun video. All the best to you, and Dirk. Be Well. Ed
YTPC at its best, engaging, honest, and entertaining thank you for sharing with us.
Great interview. It was a real pleasure to follow your conversation.
...depends on your lifestyle! That was the point!
Keep on making such great videos!
Greetings from Hamburg.
I miss summers in Germany very much, and really enjoy your videos!
Hello Mark my friend!
Well,...great interview with Dirk, he's a very talented pipe-maker and seems to be a kind fellow.
Interesting topics and discussion, and great way to do a review, looking forward to lighting that up...Larsen always has some quality to it that I appreciate.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do the interview and put this together!
We'll talk soon, take care....
Corey
Hello Mark...and Dirk. A great interview. Thank you for sharing. I have viewed some of Dirk's pipes. It is always a pleasure to hear from pipe makers. Be well.
Very interesting video. Also thanks for all the other great videos over the years - particularly enjoy the historical sites, your philosophical talks and of course the pipes and tobacco. Even the aromatics are interesting although I can't really imagine smoking those flavours it is interesting to try to understand what attracts others. A great body of work.
Great video Mark. I really enjoyed the interview since I consider Dirk a close friend and own 4 of his pipes. Pleasure to see one of my favorite YT presenters and pipe makers in one vid!!!
Very interesting interview. Looks like you were enjoying yourself and never ran out of questions, or enthusiasm!
Mark, always enjoy your videos and this one is no exception! I am happy to call Dirk a friend. He is a very skilled peer and an amazing man. I appreciate you bringing the interview to the community and sharing his work. Well done! Also, you should definitely come to the Chicago Pipe Show!!
Really enjoyed having a smoke and following along on the interview. I love my pipes and the collection is always growing and I do support the artisan pipe makers - but $800 is out of my price range.
Wiping out pipes and cake - at the rate I smoke (1lb/month roughly) my pipes all seem to cake up very quickly and I’m continually carving cake out of my pipes. I do like to be able to get my finger down in the bowl - I may not always have a pipe cleaner on me so between bowls I often blow hard down the stem after a smoke and jam in a napkin and twist to absorb the moister. Then when the pipe cools down I’m ready to fire it back up. I do have one prized artisan morta fire helmet shaped pipe from a German pipe maker who Panzer hooked me up with and a morta author for a local pipe maker - love the morta . As a convert from vaping a year ago and a person who is loving my pipe journey, I really do hope we are seeing a pipe renaissance of sorts and our community and passion survives for years to come.👍🏼💨💨💨
Thank you Mark for this wonderful in-depth interviewI with Dirk. It was interesting about his view of pipe styles and sizes he prefers to make, and pipes he likes to smoke. I especially enjoyed the tour of his workshop to see the tools and equipment he uses for making pipes.
Always a pleasure to see you have a new video available Mark. That was a very enjoyable chat with Dirk. I am just like the chinese pipe smokers he mentioned in that I clean my pipe after every use including wiping out the bowl with a paper kitchen towel! I do this to prevent the cake from building up too much so my pipes don't end up like some of those "old codger" pipes with a nearly closed bowl! Thanks for posting and best wishes.
Such a fabulous video Mark, I love his quaint shop! I like how he is still using the old cobbler machine for his pipes! And, I like listening to you speak German! Take care my friend!
Terrific video, Mark! Thanks for an excellent hour of viewing enjoyment as I smoked a bowl of Carter Hall in my Savinelli Series III 121 KS. Excellent point of cigar vs. pipe tobacco costs! You cannot beat a pipe from an economical standpoint, even if you enjoy premium tobaccos.
Another great video! I really enjoy the way you combine History, Locations, and Pipe Smoking. I don't know of anyone else on the web that's doing this. Absolutely fantastic. Keep 'em coming!
What a great video. Always a surprise to see how such beautiful pieces can be created on such old machinery. I had never heard of this fellow but I now am thinking of selling one of my children into slavery to afford one of his pipes!
And as always, presented in the affable humorous style that has become your trademark. Keep up the good work as I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking your channel is the best on the YTPC. All the best. Andy.
Thanks, Mark, for the great interview/video of one of the great pipe artisans! Jared Coles is local to the Fresno area. Take care!
Just wonderful, enjoyed this very much!
Mark - that was excellent / fun / interesting. Thank you so much. Take care and God bless
Jim
Hello Mark.
I prefer the format of those recent videos; they are a little bit scarse but, 50 minutes of super interesting pipe content? It surely fills my needs. Much appreciated, and thank you for making those long edits of pure tobacco and pipe related content. Best regards.
Fantastic pipes. I'm going to order one. Love that small bulldog in 9mm. Thanks for doing this video.
Mark, great video and interview! He does make some great looking pipes. It’s always cool to see pipe makers you may have not heard of, and then you get to go a research their pipes. Looks like you had a great time. Looking forward to the next video. Take care. ~Joshua
Bermen I Thoroughly enjoyed the video, somehow I completely missed Dirk Heinman at this Chicago pipe show but if he comes again for the next one I'll be sure to keep an eye out for him and it would be awesome to meet you as well I know I'll be on the lookout for you I've been waiting your videos for quite some time now and I try not to miss any, I'd love to meet you and Dirk hope you and he are planning to come this year

Enjoyed every minute Mark, really interesting interview and discussion. I like your style, it was a pleasure to watch. You’ve inspired me to go ahead and shoot an interview I’ve had on the back burner for a long while...cheers.
Great to see Dirk and his shop. I have one of his great pipes.
Awesome interview, best of luck to him. Great eye for pipe shapes as well!

Hi Mark,
No history lesson today, but a very interesting video about a pipe maker. Thanks for that.
Sadly enough, I can't afford such pipes. But I think, for a handmade pipe, with so much work to create it, it's OK.
Greetings
Andreas
Hi Mark! Thanks for the new vid. Have a wonderful day. Cheers! 🙂
Enjoyed listening to this regards from Scotland Highland pipe smoker
Greetings Professor. Great video and such a great topic. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I feel better becoming a pipe smoker because like Dirk I've never smoked before. Take care.
Professor, I know it's off topic and I am just curious. I'm also a space enthusiast and I was wondering have you ever visited peenemünde? Thank you Professor and take care.
Another excellent video, Thank You Sir, very interesting. God Bless and happy puffing.
Great location, I'd love to live there!
Extremely interesting, thanks for sharing Mark. If you can, don't give up on Holmer Knudsen as it would certainly be interesting to listen to him as well!
Very interesting and entertaining! Keep going! Thank you for your time and effort to make videos like this. Grüße aus Vilnius.
Great interview. I didn't know about the pipe shape and size preferences between USA and Europe. Must be a user reason for wanting smaller pipes. Maybe easier to carrie and shorter smoke?
Very interesting video as always
Dirk, very nice ! What kind of lighter are you using ? And I too prefer English tobacco's. I tend to add extra Latakia to my tobacco.
Great video Mark. Thank you!
Fantastic video
Great video enjoyed the discussion very informative be well !
Very nice shop!

Mark
Interesting listening to the differences in pipe culture from us, to Europe to Asia :)
I enjoyed this video very much. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day my friend
Mark, this was a very enjoyable video, like a visit with you and Dirk. I collect a few pens and am curious what you are carrying in your pocket? I couldn't make it out even when freezing the video. Be well.
Ich habe gedacht, dass Ich etwas Deutsch sprechen. Aber, ich habe diesem Video gegucked und jetzt ich weiss , dass ich doch ganz wenig Deutsch verstehen. Thanks for the very interesting video. I am jealous of your bi-lingual mastery..my German needs work. Happy Chooching!
Thank you Guys for a great video very interesting take care and happy smoking
Just got to the American pipe smoker. In our pipe club, there is only the occasional nose warmer. By far the most common shapes are the bent apple and churchwardens (mostly due to the popularity of LOTR)
Great video
OH - If you have not tried it yet, you men may enjoy Bill Bailey's Balkan Blend from Dan Tobacco - one of my favorites.
cool to learn how the Tuban came together :)
Love our videos.. Hello from Arizona. Can you recommend a place to purchase a god Meerschaum pipe lie the kid that you regularly smoke? Thanks pP
Thank you so much for watching, my friend! And...yeah...did you see the videos about Ali Birinci and Black Meerschaum...those are the guys, I get my Meers from...mostly...
Take care! Be well! Mark
Vielen dank Mark, very interesting content, unlike Germany /Austria/Sweiss/ here up North in Sweden&Finland, smokers are mainly preferring unfiltered pipes, Just now I'm smoking my SummerTobacco, Capstan Gold pretty good stuff when temps are up to +30c, have You smoked G&H Tobaccies,?They truly know how to produce old school english tobaccies, my favorites are their Rich Dark HoneyDew, Dark BridsEye and Glengarry Flake, but those are hard to come by should You live outside of England,(or Spain in that matter)Ps,just a note, Mc Barens is about of launching a brand new tobacco again, Amphora Kentucky Blend, sounds promishing if You ask me, already available in The U.S, Best Greets, Paul
Very nice.
Aaaah... dear Mark...
I think you need an Instagram account :)
(well... you dont actually need it. But Id love to see that happen. A daily dose of Bremen Pipe Smoker would be something I'd really appretiate!
What is your experience with Canadian pipe smokers, Dirk & Mark???
Wonderful video ! Try to do more with German pipemakers.
Absolutely love to hear German spoken. I'll watch this video 10 times before I get tired of it. Lol
Thank you so much, my friend! Appreciated by heart! Take care! Hope, you're well! Mark
Hello!
Very nice thx😉
What a great video
GOOD.
great to see a new video, best pipe related channel on youtube
Imo most the ytpc contributes equally, some do reviews, some show the tranquillity of the pipe smoker and Bremen contributes by giving us content/culture to watch while smoking, but i agree, he's a cool dude
If I could have a home like that being a pipe maker.. sign me up
... agreed! Thanks for stopping by!
Take care and be well!
Mark
Not just a piece of wood...a piece of sculpture with function.
Hi Mark,
Do you know if there is anywhere in germany to buy „Eileen‘s Dream“ Tobacco from?
Thanks for taking the time, my friend! Sorry...no idea, where to find that in Germany...necer saw that on the shelf...
Take care! Be well!
Mark
Very nice interview Mark! It's always interesting to learn about new customers and see their works. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry did not identify myself below - it was my first post on you tube and I thought the id came up automatically.
Poor old dog gets a stick while you get a cold beer! Every dog will have his day though...
