      It is fundamentally impossible to tell a story without the use of tropes. Really, go look up your favourite film and you will see dozens of them in each, in subtler ways than you’d imagine. The only times we ever notice tropes is when they’ve been overused so badly and so unisoiredly that they become predictable that they lose their charm. This was a novel application of the villain monologue trope so it felt completely fine in the context of the film, even without the subversion at the end because it was a fun, thematically fitting moment

    gotta say that White Death's accent is on point. I'm Russian, and it's unlike accent in some other movies, so yeah, that's nice. The Russian speech itself was piece of s, but our language is one of the hardest to pronounce, especially for English speakers, so I totally get it

    My only gripe about this movie is the fact that the doctor was targeted and killed, but how in the hell would you even know she would have needed the surgeon??
    He talks about the attempt on her life and then says 2 days prior he was killed...

      @abalayn22 Год назад +1

      Surgeon's death and the Bolivia job wasnt part of an assassination attempt on White Death, just coincidence. White Death just didnt care, took his revenge either way.

      I think the logic is, The White Death doesn't care if you were directly trying to kill his wife like Carver, or indirectly linked to her death; like Lemon, Tangerine, his Son and The Hornet.
      If you COULD be linked to her death in any way, he is going to kill you.

    • @kurimzen
      @kurimzen 7 месяцев назад +1

      I think the doctor dying was a part of the failed attempt on the White Death’s life. Like, the plan was for Carver to hit the car to make it look like an accident and then if he didn’t die in the car crash, he’d die as a result of not undergoing surgery because the Hornet took out the only doctor that could help him.
      But as the White Death explained, he was brought elsewhere by fate and his wife instead took his place.

    Such an underrated movie. This is such a gem. I legit laughed, the action was great, they hit the style and vibe they were going for perfectly. It's a movie I got many friends to watch and they all loved it.

    I personally like the exchange between the old guys here, cause the villain knows he has already moved on from this guy and directly and indirectly cost him enough, and then just wants to finish this task of revenge that didn't involve his daughter and rival family on the train.
