      Removing stock catalytic converters (and replacing them) voids bumper to bumper warranties. Most warranties allow you to mess with the resonators/mufflers, but nothing more than that on the exhaust.

    • @stevenp3176
      @stevenp3176 7 лет назад +2

      TRDCelica No it does no automatically void your bumper to bumper warranty. What does a cat have to do with a blinker switch? Think about it.

      I can speak first had on how this does void the bumper to bumper warranty. I removed cats on mine, took it in because the transmission threw a code, and they wouldn't give me warranty service. 99% of the time, removing the cats or exhaust manifold will void the warranty. (He even says in another video his warranty was voided).

    i think the design of the exhaust manifold is what restricts that exhaust the most. if they just let all 4 cylinders empty into 1 pipe the flow would be much better. smooshing 2 pipes was a horrible idea. new headers on that thing will prolly make it breathe even better

    • @mktbully
      @mktbully 7 лет назад +14

      nick elias the 4 to 1 generally produces more top end power but a little less on the midrange where 4-2-1 gives you a little more torque in the midrange.

    • @darkpassenger7064
      @darkpassenger7064 5 лет назад

      The amount of design engineering that went into those original headers would be top notch. Anything you get aftermarket wouldn't come close to O.E. I would never change them. All he was looking for was a sound increase. That's what he got. No HP gain.

    • @jimbooth
      @jimbooth 5 лет назад

      @@darkpassenger7064 top notch, but not looking for the same end result. Aston probably would prefer their cars not to be hyper loud with big peak hp numbers. More likely the headers are designed to improve low down torque and be easier/cheaper to engineer.

    Greetings Tavarish. I am a fellow car enthusiast who also enjoys fine sports cars including Mercedes Benz such as yourself. I wanted to inform you that the reason for placing the oxygen sensor mid cat as opposed to post cat is for OBD compliance. In order to adequately detect for a failed component which results in an increase in emission by a factor of 1.5 times base emissions constituent (CO), often times a partial volume monitor as opposed to total volume will better detect increased tailpipe emissions. The total volume flow monitor may be more robust to a degraded catalyst, but it will be exceeding emissions longer before a fault is set. In other words, this system would likely not be approved for sale in the state of California and could be exceeding emissions above the OBD threshold limit before setting a fault.

      CJ DASHCAM pb blaster is a penetrating catalyst and wd40 is water displacing spray with an oil in it, pb blaster is better in most regards when it comes to rusted bolts or anything of the sort, I will agree with you in that I prefer and think pb blaster is better than wd40. Tavarish will learn when something that's extremely rusted needs to be freed that its better

    In my 15 srt Jeep I ran 4.6-4.7 0-60 stock.....I did a full cat back exhaust and did a few pulls and actually hit 4.2 a few times, and constant 4.3-4.4. Plus quarter mile was 13.4 before and 13.1 after, I have a full tune, intake, headers next week which will help out a lot just from seeing vids on the same mods running 3.7-3.9 0-60 with mid to low 12s quarter! So full free flow exhaust systems help a lot!

    Exhaust Manifolds are normally “log style” where each cylinder feeds into a single chamber, with one exit that the exhaust attaches to, and are normally “cast” out of cast iron or similar materials. Headers are normally “tubular” where each cylinder feeds down into a “collector” where they all merge together into a single larger chamber that then continues to the exhaust system. Headers are normally made with steel, varying grades of stainless steel, or titanium with really high end, race, or exotic manufacturers. There’s way more to it than just this BASIC explanation, just wanted to give everyone curious about what they were a short explanation of each.

    I believe an exhuast manifold collects the gases into one tube, each port just branching into the tube at the nearest point, whereas exhaust headers are made with one tube for each port that are all the same length and funnel together all at a point. The idea being that headers have better performance due equal length which increases savaging and doesnt suffocate the last port.

    Hi Tavarish. Re: the difference between exhaust manifolds and headers, my understanding is that manifolds have one common exit near the block for all exhaust ports, whereas headers have one tube per port that are collected further down the exhaust line. Manifolds can be designed and made more cheaply but headers permit better exhaust flow, hence the typical cast-iron stock manifolds versus performance aftermarket headers.

As a fellow wrencher, I’ve just tried them all. I actually was told about the Mopar stuff from a Ford mechanic, and he was right.

  • @LeInternaut
    @LeInternaut 7 лет назад +2

    Actually flow is not what you want for performance, optimal performance comes from the perfect synchronism between negative pressure waves and exhaust port opening times... problem is this can only be achieved to a certain range of rpm because exhaust lenght doesn't vary, depending on what you want you can get more power by pushing that range to higher rpm. If you don't know how those pressure waves are related to the exhaust shape and lenght learn about the venturi effect.
    But nice car! :D

    Exhaust manifolds and downpipes are the equivalent to headers. The term header is used primarily with N/A cars, whereas exhaust manifolds/downpipes are on turbo cars. Exhaust mani being pre turbo and the downpipe is after the turbo.
    X-pipes merge exhaust gases and uses the scavenging effect to increase performance. Also changes the exhaust note/tone

    exhaust manifolds vs headers: exhaust manifolds simply provide a channel for combustion gas to make its way to the rear of the vehicle. Headers provide an individual channel for each cylinder, and the length of each channel is precisely tuned so that, at a specific RPM, the velocity of the gas from cylinder A will create a following lower pressure area for cylinder B to exhaust into, thus promoting better chamber evacuation on cylinder B and permitting more fuel and fresh air to enter the chamber. This is very closely tied to engine RPM, so an engine builder should really dig into the specifics of each header design to determine what range they are most effective in. I seem to recall that a good header design would increase exhaust gas scavenging by about 10%, so the effects are not huge; on the other hand, they're cheap.

    I am pleasantly surprised at how clean the under side of the Aston is.
    also
    don't forget to weigh the old cats in,they have some expensive materials inside and fetch good $ just as scrap.

    They are considered headers. "Tri y headers" because how they come together in 3 sets of "y"'s that design is supposed to let the engine take advantage of scavenging at lower rpm than equal length tube headers.

    Funny you say G35. My exhaust by Motordyne is $2,700 from the headers back. I used to have a $1,500 setup. You get what you pay for, the sound is incredible from Motordyne Shockwave )))

    Your videos end mid sentence like it didn't finish uploading. You may need to tag a fade out and one second black screen on the end or something.

      It's an issue RUclips has had for quite some time. Happens a majority of the time for me. Supposedly, watching the video again, after logging out, fixes it. But, it happens again, when logged in.

      If he's doing it on purpose... then it's a good cliffhanger as he's about to say what the next video is going to be but the video ends and doesn't let us know what to look forward to.

    wow bro thanks for the breakdown I had no idea the exuast on the aston Martin was so much different then any other car in the world. lol

    Saying that the back half of the catalytic converter is useless might be stretching it a bit? It will still clean the exahusts. As far as we know the car might actually make a calculated value or it will work just fine with the sensor at that position. But the rest of the cat will still clean the exausts no matter where the sensors are placed.

    I've always heard exhaust manifolds are cast iron, headers are made for tubing (steel, stainless, ect)

    Gonna disagree with the faster- def may give more power, but noticeable speed, would love to see a 0-60 pull or something of the like.
