This is the quickest I've ever clicked on one of your recipes! I have been drafted to cater a shrimp-themed housewarming party in two weeks. I've been collecting recipes for a month. By the way, your shrimp toast recipe is on the list. I'm going to make this tomorrow or Thursday to test, but I already know it's going on the menu because I needed a fried and a sandwich option. This fits both needs. Cheers! I'm so happy! Bless you, psychic. Actually, truth be told, this is like the third time you've saved me over the years when I'm on a recipe search right at the proper time.
I'd advise against using this recipe for a catered party. As Chef John said, this needs to be eaten quickly. By the time you fry up enough of these for a large group of people, assemble them, and get them distributed, the shrimp will be less crispy than is ideal. Unless your housewarming party is a very casual affair where people will grab them slowly over a long period of time, as they come out fresh from the fryer, they're not a great option.
The shrimp toast is a good option, though. :-)

James Dooling make his shrimp cakes & his shrimp provencal (sorry about spelling), they are both great dishes. I would also consider bourbon glazed, bacon wrapped broiled prawns too, really good!

I know it's kind of obvious for a sandwich, but _thank_ _you_ for taking the tails off.
Pet peeve: shrimp with the tails still left on, in a non-finger-food context. Shrimp cocktail? Great, leave that tail on. I'm expecting to hold the tail and pull the meat out with my mouth. Scampi? Stop it. You stop that. I either have to pick up the greasy tail and get my fingers all slimy, or use my knife and fork to cut the tail meat off (SAD), or do something weird, like put the whole shrimp in my mouth and try to chew the meat out of the tail, or pin the tail down with my knife and pull the meat with the fork, which has about a 20% success rate.
Shellfish boil: Anything goes.
Shrimp cocktail: Leave the tail on.
Everything else: Take the tail off.
Am I being a pain in the ass, or am I saving the world from decision fatigue? Just do things the way I say and unburden yourself.

looks amazing - i bet it tastes even better! for me it was: join the air force and see texas. but being from seattle, i did learn about texmex and cajun food, including poboys, which i grew to really love. all good stuff, although the first time they brought me a bowl of something that looked like it was scooped out of a mud puddle, i was skeptical. now i make this stuff all the time. love it!
