This is a little wet fly-style ant that I was asked to recreate for a custom order a few weeks back. Another one I’ve never actually fished but seems interesting, so I might have to give it a try. You could tie it like this or swap out the hackle for a hen cape, smaller fibers, or just leave it and fish it as is in the ant profile. If you give it a go, I’d love to hear how it went! Good luck fishing this fall, everyone! If you need flies for the season, you can check out my website for flies here www.mainely-outdoors.com/, or submit a custom order so we can get you whatever you’d like, or I can make suggestions here www.mainely-outdoors.com/cust... Hook: collabs.shop/psfzfn Thread: collabs.shop/9pl4kb Floss: collabs.shop/0rbxn7 Hackle Used: collabs.shop/akns00 Another Good Option: collabs.shop/oaum1n Recommended UV resin: collabs.shop/wrl2ir Recommended UV light: collabs.shop/dqpuhd
I tied one with heavy white sewing thread and then coated it chartreuse nail polish followed by Hard As Nails. I used a brown hackle for the legs. It was a killer on panfish when the water was low and the bite tough.
I could see that with a purple too. Maybe a blue. The color variations you could make with this pattern are endless. White and red... man im gonna keep going in my head.

Sounds awesome, good idea for the body too!
Loooove this nymph, tied 2 dozen 14's years ago and still run em today. Thanks for the non-conventionals!
Very nice, says a lot for the durability of this pattern! The hackle could come off and it would still be usable
Another awesome fly to tie on my day off! Thank you for sharing! Tight lines! 😎🎣
Thanks Zack, have fun at the vice today!
