    This was a really innovative idea. You are so creative! Also, very helpful, so thanks!
    I might want to major in CogSci, but will I be able to handle it if I am in more humanity-aligned classes? And is grad school necessary for job qualifications?

    I just finished my 10th grade and was confused whether i should take up science with psychology or science with math for the next two years. After watching your videos, I'm pretty convinced to take up cognitive science as a major in college. I would really like your insight on this and a little help about taking up either math or psychology will be great!! Love your videos.

    Hi Karen! Thank you for your insight! I have decided to select Cognitive Science as my major for UC Berkeley, but I am afraid that the courses I took in high school do not align with the major? I have only really taken humanities APs, but I am still super interested in CogSci (no AP CompSci or AP Bio, which I would think would be really helpful). Will this impact my admission into this major at Cal at all? Love your videos!

    • @KarenSupandi
      @KarenSupandi  4 года назад +1

      Hi Bianca!! Omg I had the same concern as you, but dont worry!! 😄 I dont think it impacts your admission to Cal because when you apply for a major under the College of Letters and Sciences, the school actually doesnt consider your major at all in your app and everyone gets in undeclared. so it doesnt matter at alll, someone who took all AP stem classes or AP humanities will still have to take pre-reqs once they get to Cal, and getting into the cogsci major is thus only dependent on your performance in those pre-reqs. I hope this helps :))

    Hey Karen! Love your work! I have a question for you: what advice would you give to high school students like me who are considering to major in cognitive science in college but not sure if it's the right fit for us? Like which classes can we take or what can we do outside of class to be more certain? Thanks!

    • @KarenSupandi
      @KarenSupandi  4 года назад +1

      Hello! Thank you so much for watching! :) If you want to know more about the different fields CogSci, I would highly suggest The Cognitive Sciences: An Interdisciplinary Approach by Carolyn P. Sobel - it's the book I studied from in my introduction to cogsci class, and I really enjoyed it! I believe they have a section on linguistics too :)

      Hey so math 55 can be taken instead of cs70 and that class is honestly pretty chill. CS61A is really not that terrible. If you work hard and do your projects in advance you’ll be just fine.

    Hey Karen! I'm in junior year of hs and i'm doing bio, chem, phys, maths and psychology..I want to major in cogsci...do you think these subjects are alright to get me into this course? also btw love your aura...you seem really bubbly and a positive person...started watching your channel today and i love it already!! 💖 💖

    • @KarenSupandi
      @KarenSupandi  4 года назад +1

      hii omg you’re so sweet thank you!! 🥺💖 and ABSOLUTELY!! that sounds like a great combination! i will say though, for high school sciences like bio, chem, phys, math, they’re more general than college courses, so from my experience, there wasn’t much overlap (psych might have a little more overlap, depending on your school!). cogsci focuses on the sciences in your brain, so you end up learning so many new things since we dont learn much of that in high school!! but long story short, the fact that you’re taking these classes in high school already, I think you’re in great shape! 😁 I hope this helps!

    Thanks for the video! I was wondering how easy or hard getting comp sci classes are as a cogsci major? And if double majoring in cogsci and cs seems plausible? I would love to take both in college. Thank you!

    • @KarenSupandi
      @KarenSupandi  4 года назад +1

      hi!! thank you for watching 🤧 oh man i think that depends on the school, but for me, it wasn’t that difficult - you just have to be a lil patient bc CS students got priority! but double majoring in cogsci and cs is SUPER plausible it’s actually very common!! DEFINITELY POSSIBLE :) i hope this helps and good luck!!

      hello!! SO MANY 🥳🥳 because its so interdisciplinary, you can go into a lot of different fields. i know ppl who went on to med school, to being a teacher, to being software engineers in tech! if you want to know more, my video last week touched on my experience working full time as a post-grad, and i also talk about this in my “majoring in cognitive science” video! both are linked in the description :)
