I have loved Zheng's game since i first heard og her a couple of years ago. Her clean strokes and aggressive style are refreshing, but that tweener was outstanding. I don't see many women running that well to catch most lobs already over their heads. Maria gets shaky but this time she stayed focused and pulled off the win.
Zheng needs an additional coach who is good with match strategies. With her skills and power, there is no way she keeps bowing out in first or second round in almost every tournament. A strategist who teaches her how to play each opponent to their weakness will help Zheng to get a title quickly.
Good point, and she also needs a better coach to help with some key tactics: her return game is seriously sub-par. No other top-30 players stand that far behind the baseline for second serves! She is so afraid of moving up that her opponents can always getting off the hook by serving long and wide. Right now it is just so difficult for her to convert break points, against even average servers. It will take a real expert to fix this problem. Her current coach seems to have done his best already.
Qinwen is my favourite player to watch. The potential she has to get to the top is there. A word to whoever puts these highlights together. Couldn't you add a replay of that tweener Zheng made? Madness!
Congrats, Sakkari!!👏👏👏👏👏
On a second watch, it looks like some words were exchanged between the players. Zheng didn't look too happy and kind of shrugged off Maria when she tried to talk. Did something happen during the match?
During the third set Zheng injured her wrist and received medical treatment. I think Maria was kindly asking if she’s ok. That’s probably what the shrug-off is all about. Zheng cannot be “too happy” after a tough loss, but the handshake looks pretty standard at WTA.
Crowd seemed a bit lukewarm towards Maria and applauded few times, the opposite for Zheng, this seems awkward , also Wta pre-match winning preview was giving advantage to Zheng easily, well Sakkari did won and fairly easy at the end.
There's no drama at all. It seems to me that she showed her injured left wrist to Sakkari and meant it painful. Anyway, she was also disappointed with her performance.
@wta - these highlights are of low quality again. I hope whoever is assigned to this work understands they aren’t performing at the expected level. It’s now 6 or 7 weeks of bad editing and bad point selection.
This is one of the worst highlights I have seen all because they want to promote one player over the other. @WTA this is very very wrong. No appreciation for Maria... You should redo these highlights seriously!!!
Sakkari won the match and every one od talking about Zheng WTF? Ok she played tweener but still lose so why is she do overhyped? And her behaviour at the net, seems like argue with sakkari, didnt event looked at her, cant event make handshake, and medical timeout to disrup Maria, its awful.
I'd ask Maria whether she would consider hiring herself out as a personal security/bodyguard for we older adults who are fearful of entering those Deep Blue urban centers in the good old USA. Rather than pack heat, I'd rather pack Maria and those guns she is wielding.

With the caveat that she's talented and has upside: The disparity between Qinwen's actual results and the amount of hype she gets is absurd at this point. Her biggest achievements on court so far are taking a set from Iga at RG and losing a 500 final to Samsonova, yet the tennis media + tennis fans on social media act like she's the second coming. Is it because she's conventionally pretty? Is this inevitable for younger players from big tennis markets? Whatever it is, she's not backing up what she's selling right now.
With your last sentence, you seem to be criticizing her. The hype isn't on her, and in this case not on the WTA. It's just a few fans who are clearly getting under your skin. Any young player who has a few good results immediately has people commenting on how they are "guaranteed" to win multiple Grand Slams, are a future number 1, blah blah blah. Of course it's absurd. But she's out there doing her job. And you do seem to ignore (intentionally?) that she clearly has a great energy and attacking style, has shown a great tendency to go for her shots and not play it safe, etc. Whatever her career turns out to be, being a fan of what she is bringing right now is hardly unreasonable.
@@zweigackroyd7301 sorry, however, you can clearly see that there is a bias towards her. Funny comment. I don’t see her selling anything. She is just a hard working athlete with tangible achievements and huge potential that the entire WTA are on notice. Even if there are hype and promotion, as you suggest, it is not Qinwen’s fault. If anything, she is more of a victim than beneficiary of them, having been exposed to such great pressure and high expectation at age 20. I hope you can put things in perspective: Maria is 27 and has got only one title, what’s the rush here?
That tweener passing shot from Qinwen has to be one of the best by season's end.

Okay, I will say this: That was unequivocally the greatest tweener ever hit be a female tennis player. Without a doubt! Unreal!

AMAZING SHOT QUINWEN
First Parks a few weeks ago, then Zheng. It's good to see more women attempting the tweener and pulling it off.
That girl Parks is a beast! She will do some serious damages on the tour!
@Jan parchanski For sure. Both of them
1:30 the precision on that tweener 🤯

Both ladies are warriors ... I'm glad Sakkari won, and excited that Qinwen pulled that tweener
Everyone was rooting for Qinwen on this match, including me!
Zheng needs better strategy to secure her own serving sets, hard to win matches if you have to fight hard to earn your serves
Zheng shot 🥰
The sound is ridiculous. Makes every shot sound like they're using a flat ball.
