There was a volare installed at my local park when I was in high school, and we were all so excited. I remember being so pumped to go on it, and then I rode it and it honestly felt like you literally had to hold yourself inside the car with sheer strength. I remember gritting my teeth and thinking “this is fun right? I was so excited it has to be fun. Just believe this is fun and maybe by the time it’s over it will be!” It was not. Not even a little.

Wild Waves near Seattle has one of the same model (they call theirs the Wild Thing) and it feels like they designed it to meet some federally mandated minimum standard for a "thrill" ride. Most days when the park isn't overly crowded they send riders through twice just so it feels vaguely thrilling.

@ThemeParkCrazy, You can breathe a partial sigh of relief as three coasters from this list are now defunct. Canobie Corkscrew at Canobie Lake Park was removed from the park after the 2021 season. Also during that year, Six Flags New England removed Goliath from the park map, and a park representative confirmed it would not operate for the remainder of the season. The coaster began demolition in late 2021 confirming its permanent closure. Hershey Park also announced on June 8, 2022 that Wildcat will be closed for good at the end of July, and that's exactly what happened. It will be converted by RMC into Wildcat's Revenge and will open in 2023.

I have ridden Goliath at SFNE, but when it was known as Deja Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain and was removed and relocated to SFNE in 2001. I had no problem with it, loved it, and the front seat was my favorite. As far as the Great American Scream Machine goes, I never had a chance to ride it. It is a carbon copy of VIPER at SFMM. Viper is the last of the Arrow mega-loopers in existence. The Vortex is similar but has 6 loops, where Vioer and The Scream Machine have 7 loops. Viper is my favorite roller coaster of all time. These rides comfort come down to your knowledge on how to ride these rides properly, and how the parks maintain these rides as they age. The old saying goes “You don’t know what you got till it’s gone”, reminds me of the Great American Scream Machine, and the Peoplemover at Disneyland. If you take out a classic you will NEVER hear the end of it from the park visitors. Hello from Phoenix Arizona.

Crazy Scrapping Kid it depends on height. I am 5'10, suppose to be 6'3 at full height. I did not ride a arrow looper after my rapid growth since my head banged like a bubble head. Then road Carolina Cyclone with no headbanging, thinking it was just a good ride. But then I rode Dragon Fire and did not bang either. So I just get shackiness. I am pretty sure I might have got a good one on GASM if I was tall enough when it was open.

To be fair, until a few years ago, my parents claimed that the Steel Phantom (the original) was probably the worst coaster they've ridden. Not because it was a bad coaster, but because they always left with a terrible headache. It was also an Arrow and had the same type of trains.

    • @rickleo9816
      @rickleo9816 6 лет назад

@@user-K8T yes. The steel phantom before the track switch was horrible on your neck and head. The bank turn after the long drop with an inversion right after was too much.
I do wish that they would build at least one inversion back into it tho.

The "Wildcat" at Lake Compounce was the first coaster I ever rode back in the early 70's. Back then, there were no seat belts, restraints. or lap bars. There was just a bar in front that you hung onto. I rode it about 8 years ago and found that the cars were small and that I could barely fit my legs into them. After the ride, my knees were covered in bruises from being banged on the front of the car. I've lived about 15-20 minutes away from that park all my life. I will 100% agree about "The Great American Scream Machine". When I saw the title of this video, that was the first coaster that came to my mind. It was the absolute worst coaster I've ever ridden, and I've ridden a LOT of rough, throw you around, coasters. Nothing banged me up like that one did. That thing was a torture device made specifically to injure people. I was kind of pissed because my neck was so painful after riding it that it killed my enjoyment of every other ride that day.

When I was watching this, I had a sneaking suspicion that what you called Goliath was once Deja Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain, and indeed it was. I have horrid memories of that ride, beginning when I was maybe about 11. I hadn't been on many coasters before then, and I was terrified of it. My mother forced me to go on, and I actually enjoyed it. I visited Magic Mountain several times after that, and enjoyed going on it, until it broke down a few times while I was riding it. The last time I rode it, we were stuck on the part where you're facing the ground on one of the straight up bits for about twenty minutes. It all the weight on the harness was terrifying. I wasn't sorry when they closed it.

Boomerang at Knott's sucked but was bearable. Boomerang at SFDK was very smooth minus one jolt through the backwards loop. Kong is absolutely terrible. By far the worst roller coaster I've ridden. you reminded me of the time I went to La Ronde in Montreal. There was one ride my family did not like: Toboggan Nordique.
here's the park's description of the ride:
"Get a chilly breeze while sliding on a snowy mountain
Ready to hit the slopes? Meet up with other nordic explorers aboard the Toboggan Nordique. You will get your fix for thrill in this classic steel ride that will lead you through a large flat section of upper track consisting of multiple 180° switchbacks with a few drops.
Each small car can carry up to 4 people and will make you feel safe while you hit the slopes! This ride is a great start for those young thrill seekers that might not be ready for Goliath yet. Choose the country you will cheer for between our colorful cars from Jamaica, Canada, Italy and the United States of America!
The architecture oh this Wild Mouse type of ride is well known for its many slopes that will remind you of your favorite ski-resort.Hold on tight because you might feel a little scared!
    Laughs and fun guaranteed!"
you wanna know what this ride actually is? Painful. Nothing but painful. Those 180° switchbacks are torture for your lower body.
if you wanna know what it looks like, this is the first video I found of it via Google search: ruclips.net/video/Wh6vrkECBBQ/видео.html

I’m no seasoned enthusiast. I’m still in my teen years and I’ve only started riding roller coasters last year. While on our trip to Maryland, we stopped by Six Flags America and I think 90% of you know where I’m going with this. Some rides like Joker’s Jinx and Ride of Steel I absolutely loved. Batwing surprisingly enough was open and although it was fun, I’d say it’s pretty similar to Nighthawk at Carowinds (my home park). I had known about Mindbender for a long time now and I was more hesitant to ride this than start my day at Carowinds last week with Fury 325. But I gave it a shot and uh…yeah, fuck that ride. I have a small pimple on my ear and after getting off, it had bursted. My eyes hurt like hell and I couldn’t ride anything else that day without feeling like my brain was gonna explode out the front of my head. Never doing that ride again. Never riding an SLC again. Fuck credits, fuck Mindbender.
