I lived out west for a few years (Washington) and every time I told people where I was from they'd assume I was from a well-off family and knew everything about yachting and country clubs. People don't seem to realize that somebody has to work at the gas station for it to operate, somebody has to work at the restaurant for it to operate, somebody has to be the custodian of the local elementary school for it to operate. There is a lot of money in CT, but it's not in the hands of the many.

Basically Connecticut has segmented ghettos that could have afforded to fix up 20 years ago but they didn't because it is easier to control your lower middle class population when you can hang in front of their face the prospect of only being able to afford living in the ghetto if they speak up against the corrupt people who run this place. After decades it's not that people are not friendly here, everyone just learned to stay in their own lane. Also while Hartford is extra gangster, the hood is everywhere in CT and the people that trap Hartford generally serve out of towners from home streets. Waterbury, New Haven and Bridgeport have the most senseless crimes, the only people doing violence in Hartford are the ones who have no connect and nothing to flip (don't tell a carless person in Hartford to get a job either because there is none for them, being born there is a 50/50 deathtrap).
