  • In this video I will be showing you how to properly setup the X-Pro straight from the box, and then I'll take you through the pros and the cons of this printer. Lastly we will put this printer to the test and see what kind of print quality we get.
    I was definitely impressed with the printer and it has a lot of features. Something I left out in the video is that it can pause prints while you reload filament, and resume afterwards. However there is no filament runout sensor so you'll have to keep tabs on that. The printer can also store it's last location so that if the printer were to loose power mid-print, once you fired it back up it would ask if you'd like to continue printing from it's last position. Overall it was a great printer, but the price tag was a little much. For 700 dollars I'd like to see a few more basic features, including a filament runout sensor or a better feed tube system.
    If you're using this printer and the spool holders are too large, you can download my design from here: It has an easy twist-off cap, and also has a recess that holds the hex nut for you. www.thingivers...

    The manual should just be a link to this youTube ! ... You saved the day.
    One suggestion for fellow readers. When putting the screws into the extruder and the fan baffel ... put a sheet of paper over the bed. This way when you drop a screw, it does not fal between the bed and the bottom plate. (It took me 15 - 20 minutes to get the darn thing out.

      Overall the video is good. Clarity regarding Left and Right extruders. I’ve owned a couple of QiDi printers and in the video you might be mixing up the left vs right side of the printer. This is very import as to prevent miss prints at the very start of your print.

    Awesome video! incredible well explained and objective. I been printing for 3 years with a qidi x-pro and I had that problem with the building plate. If you DONT apply any glue or fixing to the plate some materials will bond with it and will be very difficult to remove. I lost like 3 plates already. Using a razor will cut some of the material, or even forcing it will cut it too (with the hand). I found out that when is too fixed to the plate, putting it on the fridge will help to remove it.
    The always put a glue or something soe there is a thin layer between the print and the build plate, and will be easier to remove. This printer building plates are exactly the other way around, you need glue so the piece dont stick too much hahaha
    Thanks for the video, I was thinking to purchase this as secondary printer, to print the same models that I'm printing repletely and keep my x-pro for new designs.

    I bought mine and it should be coming in at the end of the week. Is the dual color printing something that you have to design first or is it something you do with the slicing program that comes with it (like the frog you printed, did you design out those stripes in your CAD software or in the slicing software?)

    • @AJRobinson
      @AJRobinson  5 лет назад +1

      Yes so it's basically two different models that are then overlayed. Watch a video on dual color printing! You can also download and print that same frog I did from here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:329436. If you are using the Qidi slicer you need to overlay both models and then right mouse click to merge or group, I forget which is which.

    • @boostedskyline
      @boostedskyline 5 лет назад

      @@AJRobinson you know why when I brought my two stl files into the qidi slicer they didnt drop in the position that they were designed in? Is there a setting in the slicer to fix this or do I have to design the parts a certain way?

    • @AJRobinson
      @AJRobinson  5 лет назад

      @@boostedskyline Open up both models in the slicer, treefrog_hollow and treefrog_solid. For the hollow, click on the model, and then click on the left extruder option. For the solid, click on the model and the right extruder. Then hold the shift key and select both, right mouse click and choose "Merge Models". You should now see a yellow and red mashup indicative of the R and L extruders. Slice it, and if you do a layer by layer view (bottom right toolboar) you can un-select one of the extruders and see the gaps the other extruder will fill.

      @@AJRobinson I think it has to do with voltage issues..first i followed the procedures provided by their book on how to assemble everything until i find out i couldn't lift up the base (where flash is located underneath) so i had to find a RUclips video that might explain better so here i was and unfortunate thing happened..Later i had to open the printer base to find out what was the issue, and surely the 24v power supply is fried as it was still leaking some kind of oil and still smelled like a fried circuit. Unfortunately the power supply is the only subject they didn't touch in their manual (may be on the flash that is still stuck!) so no any point of reference for me.

    so I got one, and here is a major flaw of the duel extruder, if one of the extruder is positioned out of alignment +/- 1mm, It will continuously destroy your prints, as they are side by side and move together. I initially thought this would be great....but now its just crank in the shaft in my hobby

    • @AJRobinson
      @AJRobinson  3 года назад

      They should have been calibrated but depending on who you got it from, clearly they might not be. There's 2 things you can do, adjust the head yourself. It's not that hard to do. Or you could print with the lower head only, and you don't have to worry about your problem.

    • @AJRobinson
      @AJRobinson  4 года назад +1

      Something is wrong with the heaters or the thermistors. Try to manually heat up both extruders and the bed individually, one of those 3 should either not heat up, or show that it's not heating when it is. That way you'll know if it's a temp sensor problem, or one of the heating elements is bad
