- Agnetha released her second post Abba solo album Eyes Of A Woman in March 1985. This album was produced by Eric Stewart of 70's supergroup 10cc, and was recorded at Polar Studios Stockholm. It sold very well in Europe, reaching No.2 in Sweden.
One Way Love was released as a single in America, where it was very popular in dance clubs. Here Agnetha sings this song at the famous Montreaux Golden Rose Pop Festival in Switzerland in May 1985, to help promote her new album in Europe. The show was broadcast across Europe in June 1985. Agnetha looks very smart and attractive in a fetching purple and yellow outfit. She is joined on stage by ABBA musicians Lasse Wellander and Rutger Gunnarsson. Other acts appearing in this festival were: Elton John & Millie Jackson; Howard Jones; Shakatak; Paul Young; REO Speedwagon; Men at Work; Frankie Goes To Hollywood; Dépêche Mode; Huey Lewis & The News; Tears For Fears; Bronski Beat and Duran Duran. Agnetha shows that she deserves her place amongst this high powered line up with a confident performance of this upbeat song.
Lyrics, music: Jeff Lynne (ELO)
One way love, it never sleeps, it just grows deeper
One way love, it pulls you in, it takes you down
And I wish I knew what I had to do,
To get into your life, to get close to you
But baby, it's a one way love.
One way love, if you could only see me as I see you
One way love, you'd feel the way I feel tonight
And I can't go on living other lives,
Making other plans to keep the tears from my eyes,
Oh baby, it's a one way love.
So don't turn away, and don't say it's over
I'm falling like I never knew,
And I can't pretend, for I keep remembering
Everything that we've been through.
One way love, it lives in shadows, cold and lonely
One way love, it lives alone, it breaks your heart
And I don't know how I can take the pain,
Hurting over and over and over again,
And baby, it's a one way love.
So don't turn away, and don't say it's over
I'm falling like I never knew,
And I can't pretend, for I keep remembering
Everything that we've been through.
One way love, oh baby, it's a one way love
And I can't go on living other lives,
Making other plans to keep the tears from my eyes,
And baby, it's a one way love.
One way love, it's a one way love
Mmm, one way love.
A one way love, it's a one way love
Yeah, one way love.
A one way love, it's a one way love... - Видеоклипы
As I always say, Agnetha, you are a godsend. I'm 36 years old and you always have been (and you always will be) the woman of my dreams. If you could only love me as I love you... Congratulations for your great work through the years
Agnetha generates a lively dancing atmosphere here Robyn. She's such a good performer, that this song is easy for her to carry off. Hence she can enjoy being on stage before a big crowd.
Cheers Xem, Agnetha is something else! I've listened to lots of music since the 60's, her singing stands out. She had a No.1 at 17 that she wrote herself. She didn't get much distribution in USA unfortunately. Today's young music fans miss out on these brilliant older acts. Agnetha knows how to present a song on stage confidently, she spent many years in Abba.
Agnetha proves she can captivate a big audience with a single song here Jim. Given the quality of the other acts, she has to come up with something catchy and instantly likeable, this performance certainly achieves that! Yes she's still the Queen of Hearts even today Jim, and always will be.
I don't mind how many times this one needs to be replayed Shay. Agnetha and her band create a super atmosphere spurred on by the enthusiastic crowd. Yes the smiling close-ups show just how happy she is here.
I've found no-one better than Agnetha at that Mike. She can adjust her voice from mellow to high notes easily in the same line, as the pace of the song demands. Sometimes you think there must be 2 singing her voice is so rich, but its just her. Good range of her singing is on My Colouring Book album, some more songs from that soon.
I have always loved Agnetha.
She is amazing.
Thanks for posting this.

Hi Di, this is a great song for dancing to, its got a late 50's juke-box feel to it. Agnetha has an Abba-style backing band here, so she's right at home and carries this off easily.
Hi Mike, I like how she generates a good atmosphere at the start, with the overhead hand clapping and nice dancing before she picks up the mic. Agnetha's stage performances are always worth watching. She pitches everything just right, and often acts out the words, as she does at 0:40 & 1:14 here.
Thanks very much Agnetha, this performance has gone down really well with everyone! Aggy creates a super dancing atmosphere here, that's perfect for you. Wish she had done more concerts like this, the crowd love her!
I'll celebrate with something strong!
Yeah this is a great song and super performance by Agnetha, and well done for finding it!
Of course is a one way love. Agnetha never got over Björn!
Love this song from the Eyes of a Woman CD
Cheers Dallas, you're proof that the write-up was correct in stating that this song was popular in American dance clubs. The annual Montreaux Pop Festival was famous in the 70's and 80's, attracting the best bands due to tv exposure across Europe. I like to give the background info Dallas, it makes the vid much more complete to set the scene. Glad to help.
Fantastic!
hmmm, i've never been exposed to her music.
-this would be new to me.
she has a great stage presence and looks like she has a lot of fun up there.
c ya soon,
XEM
GREAT video John! Automatic 5 stars + favourite:):):)
Her single stuff is underrated
Hi Max. Yes this is a really bouncing song. You're right the lyrics don't match the happy mood here, but they give purpose that Aggy can latch onto to deliver a strong chorus. Jeff Lynne is a well known musician here. He was previously with Roy Wood in Move, very successful here in the late 60's with organ & sax style songs like this. Aggy would be delighted he wrote this song for her album.
Cheers Elin, I've got my cup of hot chocolate now. This is an Abba style electronic organ led song, just right for a one-off stage appearance to keep the crowd in a happy mood. Agnetha looks like she sings this on the way to the office, the marvellous Benny-less band make it that easy for her!
I'm sure it sounds much better with Agnetha singing it rather than Jeff - and the upbeat tempo does grow on you!!
this song reminds me of how i feel
🎆🎊🎉👍🤩👏🎉🎊🎆
I might be a bit biased in saying this being a huge ABBA and ELO fan, but for me, if you can't have an ABBA (related) song written by Benny & Bjorne, then Jeff Lynne is just as good or at least the next best thing.
Lynn-ские нотки смешиваются с АВВА-скими, что очень неплохо для обоих!
It´s nice to hear Agnetha singing something else. I mean the last ABBA songs were sometimes a lot of work to listen. I must
admit Jeff Lynne´s writing is a bit difficult
to recognise. But anyway it´s not ABBA.
But liked many ABBA- songs in 1970´s.
Agnetha Fältskog
Yeah, but its quite upbeat despite the sentiment!
I think Jeff last worked with George Harrison and Tom Petty early this decade on "Concert for George" Max. They are all ex-Travelling Wilbury's. I only listen to oldies now on radio, we get some Abba played. Never bother with the charts, modern songs are useless.
Quite good but it sounds too much a Jeff Lynne Song he didn´t want to use it himself.
