Some times people dont understand the bond that athletes have... I called one of my teammates from almost 15 years ago and we spoke to each other like we had just talked yesterday. Another one I met up with in Florida after 15 years and we still cracked jokes on each other like we were still kids. Its almost like your still young in each others eyes.
I Love Patrick Ewing. Took care of business like a true Pro. I was never a basketball fan. I Loved to play and shoot. Was not a fan of watching the game. I moved from Florida to NYC in 1982. Started watching the Nicks and got hooked. What an exciting mix of players all built around Sir Patrick. What an incredible talent. John Starks and Patrick fed off each other. Patrick Won plenty. Patrick is a winner! Always was. Patrick Ewing let his game do the talking. I wish I could go back in time just to enjoy that team's play again. Thank you New York Knicks for introducing me to the Love for watching BasketBall.
Great and very difficult interview. Patrick Ewing answered very candidly and with much respect and grace for his teammates, the competition and that Menace named Michael Jordan! Great character.
Youngboy_uzi_Kodak Na we respect mikes greatness it brings back so many good memories of Knicks basketball and those legendary battles those are the days the Knicks were the one of the title contenders
They should have show Stark's dunk on the entire Bull baseline (including MJ) for the 93 series and interviewed John. I'm guessing MJ would have edited that part out. But yeah .. .hard but compared to today's Knicks those hard losses in the 90's look magically.

On the Dan Patrick show, Ewing added that his son asked to speak to Jordan and told him no. LOL!!! He said he didn't know what Jordan would say to his son...LOL!! What is cool, is that they are such good friends that Ewing was hired as a Hornet's coach. On DP show, Ewing stated that he almost went to North Carolina...that is when he and Jordan first became good friends.
Patrick Ewing one of the greatest of all time! I missed watching those battles growing up. Just cool to hear the behind the scene perspectives from the greats.
P. Dubb, 1 of my favorite BB Players of All Time. Still have 1 of the coolest personalities! Seems like, Ewing and Bird really enjoys each other company.
I loved the way the Georgetown Hoyas played when he was there. The best team defense I have ever seen from a college team. It seemed like they had a full court press the whole game and if somebody got by their man Ewing was there to stop them. They really turned up the pressure on teams.
@michael lee Huh, what is your point ? I am confirming my favorite players for the Knicks. I can't speak on Frazier , ok, so Starks had a very bad game.. what is your point? Smh, still dosen't change the fact that he was my favorite player.
Starks getting hot was dangerous for opposing teams. Starks getting "hot" in other ways was dangerous for the Knicks. When he was locked in though, that dude was good.
My favorite, and only Jordan game, was his fair well tour when he was with the Wizards played against the Denver Nuggets. They had been playing highlights of Jordan throughout the game and the highlights kept getting better. At that time, Ewing and Oakley were coaches for the Nuggets. At a timeout at halftime, one of Jordan’s most popular highlight is the baseline move, dunk over both giants (Ewing and Oakley). Both of them caught by Jordan watching the highlight. Jordan, in only they way Jordan can do, winked, pointed at the screen with tongue out at the two. One of my favorite highlights of a highlight.
This is a guy who had a good face up game and jumper in an era where big men were not shooting the ball from the perimeter. The knicks still have not truly recovered after Ewing's career ended. They had a few good years with Melo, but they were never the serious championship contenders that they were with Ewing.
Got into basketball in middle school, about 92-93 out in Western NY State. Had MSG network and watched all the Knicks games back then as I was growing up. Ewing was legit. Great memories watching those tough Knick teams.

@@markjordan5478 that would be 80 year old mr. Pippen reminding Ewing..and even then MJ would call Ewing and say..remember Scottie posterizing you? lol
I miss 80’s and 90’s basketball. It was the greatest eras of basketball. At least IMO. Growing up as a kid watching these guys and the competitive nature was surreal.
Well, they didn't have home court. The Knicks were up 3 games to 2, but the series went back to Houston and the Rockets won two hard fought games in Houston. Houston had a better regular season record by 1 game. Pat Riley was the head coach 4 seasons there - 91-92, 92-93, 93-94, and 94-95. They gave Chicago all they could handle in the 1992 playoffs when MJ was playing.
Add to that when i had finally seen a glimmer of hope, they were denied by the Spurs. This somewhat shows that if there were no jordan, Knicks might have dominated the east and won more championship in the 90s.
That’s MJ personality really, his very competitive in all ways. That is why we love him much! His dedication and love of the game was one of a Kind! Our 🐐Forever!

Patrick Ewing, an all time great and a gentleman. My respect for him just grew a lot more after watching this interview
Patrick is my all time favorite Knick ever
Great and very difficult interview. Patrick Ewing answered very candidly and with much respect and grace for his teammates, the competition and that Menace named Michael Jordan!
Great character.
This makes me sooo sad. Ewing was my life growing up. NYC in the 90s? Go ny go ny go!
Glad Ewing can handle it better then I am lol.
Bulls fan here, I even feel a bit sorry for Patrick I wish he would have at least won 1 championship when MJ was out.
Watching this documentary gotta be hard for Knicks fans 😂😂
the last 20 years has been tough for Knicks fans.
Youngboy_uzi_Kodak Na we respect mikes greatness it brings back so many good memories of Knicks basketball and those legendary battles those are the days the Knicks were the one of the title contenders
Most Knicks fans still respect and love MJ, now can't say that for Lebron though ;)
They should have show Stark's dunk on the entire Bull baseline (including MJ) for the 93 series and interviewed John. I'm guessing MJ would have edited that part out. But yeah .. .hard but compared to today's Knicks those hard losses in the 90's look magically.
@@hellioc1912 it hurts all right I from the 80s and I learned to luv organization that wanted to pursue championship in all sports NBA NFL MLB. But the mismanagement of upstairs management has been so sick to watch I just wonder if it a trickle down effect on all sports teams thru the last 20 yrs in the NY area that's despite the Giants winning the Superbowl s with that Tom Coughlin team cause they never ever after that have shown consistency to hold serve and win. But I have not forgotten about your Yankees teams that were great. It's just has been a travisty being a Knicks fan for everybody
Talking about how Michael Jordon consistently beat him.... and having a Jordan logo on his chest. Must be painful.
Right lol
Michael is his mountain he never climb
It's about the teams... bulls were a better team. They didn't play one on one
Gotta beat the best to be the best. No shame in losing to the greatest basketball player of all time. Ewing is a legend! All respect. Knicks forever.
Patrick seems like a humble, happy, and nice person. I look forward to his adventures at Georgetown! Great interview.
What an absolute class act! It's not easy to take the high road when an ex teammate talks bad about you and he took the highest road possible.
Class act response by Ewing. Media be baiting so they have more material but he responded with sportsmanship and acknowledging maybe he should have.
0:23 That man in the yellow jacket did not realize high fiving Patrick Ewing meant breaking his arm
I'm pretty sure he did. Wasn't Ewing an assistant coach with the Hornets before he got the Georgetown job?
Oakley was involved with the Hornets also..MJ, Ewing & Oak all were close & tight at some point. To this day MJ & Oak still real cool now
Yeah
Not Horents Orlando
Patrick Ewing one of the greatest of all time! I missed watching those battles growing up. Just cool to hear the behind the scene perspectives from the greats.
Man...when Scottie dunked on Ewing and walked over him...smh...still to this day ...I feel some type of way about that..😐😐😅
Deadass everybody in New York wanted to boom him😂😂
Don't forget the push down after the dunk.
I’m from Chicago & was on 💯🤔😷🤣
Beyond savage, he pushed him and walked over him.
I was about to buy a pair of Ewing’s one day and I remember that dunk. Long story short I ended go buying some Jordan’s 😭
P. Dubb, 1 of my favorite BB Players of All Time. Still have 1 of the coolest personalities! Seems like, Ewing and Bird really enjoys each other company.
Ewing is a legend. Straight up!
I loved the way the Georgetown Hoyas played when he was there. The best team defense I have ever seen from a college team. It seemed like they had a full court press the whole game and if somebody got by their man Ewing was there to stop them. They really turned up the pressure on teams.
Patrick Ewing and John Starks are my favorite Nicks players of all time!
Hands down, yes.....and given where Starks came from, bagging groceries to dunking and guarding MJ.....priceless!
Knicks*
@@inclair8610 That dunks Starks did on Jordan and Pip....is low key one of the top 5 game dunks ever.
Legend! One of my favorite players of all time! Love him!!
Patrick almost broke that last dude's hand with the high five ✋
Captain Snake 😆
Great memories watching those tough Knick teams.
trashtalkers will be trashtalkers..it is just their personality..when you are 80 years old mr. Ewing...michael will still remind you of that huge poster lol!!!
Lol 😂
That pippen dunk tho lol
@@markjordan5478 that would be 80 year old mr. Pippen reminding Ewing..and even then MJ would call Ewing and say..remember Scottie posterizing you? lol
I miss 80’s and 90’s basketball. It was the greatest eras of basketball. At least IMO. Growing up as a kid watching these guys and the competitive nature was surreal.
Knicks had Houston on the ropes and should have won the title that year.
Houston was very, very fortunate in '94 and '95. Their greatness is overstated.
We definitely choked in that game 7... im still waiting for a chip hopefully soon
He had both Mark and Rod Stickland an they both was traded away.
@@bubufubu I agree, they wouldn't have beaten a Jordan lead Bulls.
A Class Act and a very humble Man, much respect for Mr Ewing !!!!!
Patrick Ewing would easily average 30 points in todays Nba...
Not much more obviously since he’s already 57 years old.
Just shut up
I always imagined Ewing on the current Knicks
They got a million power forwards but hardly any true centers besides Mitchell Robinson.
Defenders might flop and sceam "OFFENSIVE FOUL!" nullifying his points.
@CRZ dude he right centers are soft
Classy guy. Loved watching the great Knicks battles vs my bulls, they were classics and Ewing usually played well
Ewing couldn't catch a break! Gets Jordan out of the way for 1 season and then has to face Olajuwon in the Finals. The Knicks had a great team
Add to that when i had finally seen a glimmer of hope, they were denied by the Spurs. This somewhat shows that if there were no jordan, Knicks might have dominated the east and won more championship in the 90s.
Ewing so happy seeing Jeff holding man so hilarious he swinging with his eyes close..
Pat is the greatest Knick of all time I just bought my adidas Patrick Ewing Knicks jacket
So humble. Love Patrick.
That’s MJ personality really, his very competitive in all ways. That is why we love him much! His dedication and love of the game was one of a Kind! Our 🐐Forever!
Thank you Patrick for the great years of basketball you give to your fans.
My man Pat was the truth, always left it on the floor!!!🏀👏
Patrick Ewing, nothing but CLASS!!!! Best of luck for you and Georgetown. This from a Bulls fan. You are right, you gave your blood, sweat and tears to the Knicks and their fans, and they , as well as ALL basketball fans should be proud of you. I am.
The legend talks!❤️
Patrick Ewing, Class Act! Great interview.
Ewing - class act
Patrick answered like a king! Much respect champ!
Mike is making all these guys relevant again and getting them paid again!!
He is literally the best person possible, such a gentle and inteligent man
For me Ewing is "THE" best center of all time.👍
My favorite, too.
Shaq Wilt Kareem?
