Reason you lost lock a couple of times in the video is due to the enemy "notching" your radar (which is going 90° or perpendicular to the radar lock). The F-14 uses a PD or Pulse Doppler radar, which use Doppler shift to determine its target's velocity and whether it's flying away or towards you. When the targeted aircraft flies perpendicular relative to the radar, like in your video, it loses it's Doppler shift, causing the radar to ignore it thinking that it's a stationary target such as mountains and etc.
I don't think gaijin was smart enough to implement true mechanics for doppler radars

What you're describing is beaming. Notching is not the same as beaming. You beam to enter the notch, which is why people may confuse one for the other, but the notch specifically refers to the range of speeds around the ground-clutter closure that will cause a radar to drop your contact in a look-down situation (for example, your ground speed +/- 50kts).

If you use manual wing sweep mode you can control the amount of lift your aircraft produces which allows you to point straight without having to wobble
The F-14 has always been one of my favorite military aircraft. I see the never give up attitude applies to aircraft as well! Was waiting for a random missile to clip that tomcat limping back to the airfield.

protip for ya'll, 2:03, pull inside missile and roll into one direction then the other to fool it, never pull away from it. otherwise it results in death, just like it almost did here.
same logic as in dogfights, if you turn away you give it/the enemy more time to do things.
btw this also works flareless if u do it right for any missile in the game )
lemme do some small editing here rq, to avoid confusion.
you should never allow an enemy to get a rear lock on you. these are the hardest to defend due to your plane essentially pulling less, think of it like when an enemy plane is behind you how he has to pull less to stay on your 6 while you have to pull more to shake him.
ideally you always want the missile launch to happen from a side aspect.
next up, the timing of which u have to start pulling inside and rolling around has to be PERFECT.
can be trained in custom games to grasp it.

Rolling to dodge works flareless? Lol no, not against modern missiles with even decent launch parameters
@@spectre0969 except i have been dodging missiles successfully by doing so, via pulling inside of them for over half a year now.
rolling around and turning inside of missiles is the most effective way of fooling them and dodging them.
by rolling i mean, you gotta roll up down once missiles adjusted to your new trajectory roll somewhere, wherever, just never away from it.
by turning away youre just giving those 20-40G missiles more time, the time they need to react and adjust their course.
of course speed plays a huge role too.
just because you lack the experience and or knowledge on how to defend missiles doesnt mean its an immedeat missinformation...
cant blame no one for that tho, there are no truly comprehensive guides on youtube on what to do, neither is gaijin explaining it.
obviously if you fly bricks like an fgr2 there is an increased chance in actually needing flares while doing so. that thing doesnt pull enough degrees a second to actually and effectively fool more modern missiles on its own.
@@covenantslayergaming6362 i dunno, maybe its a bit biased of an experience i got there, considering i prefer to fly either high aoa or high degrees a second planes.
stuff like j35d, f4d, ariete, f5E mig23mld. hell even mig21s. some of the lower br planes im perfectly comfortable uptiering with squad mates. j35 f4d ariete in that case.
but things like f16s and f14s shouldnt struggle dat much either unless youre going at speeds of 1200-1400.
usually 850-1100 is a good sweespot to initate defensive manuevers.
i failed to mentioned that TIMING is very crucial when you initiate the dodging sequence. firstly the missile has to be set up and then after, the roll(s) has(have) to be timed PERFECT for you to not implode. but thats what custom exist for in the end )

i dont have F14B in WT but i have F14B in DCS
just keep in mind, fire the right missiles based on distance
AIM54 > AIM7 > AIM9
AIM54 is FOX1 , you need to keep the target online for the missile until it goes FOX3 (PITBULL) and you can turn and forget
AIM7 are only FOX1 so you need to keep the target until the missile hit
AIM9 are FOX2 (IR) fire and forget
for WT you just spam AIM54 from 30-35km because they suck really bad respect RL
you use AIM7 on 50km ... OOPS this isnt DCS ... 10km :))))
in dogfight you use AIM9
you DONT use gatling, because F14 is a plane that use missiles, remember flee is not cowardice, you destroy an F14, pentagon will be angry :))))

I can’t even begin to count how many kills I have lost because the radar just loses lock not long after launch. You got really lucky with your Aim-9Ls, mind keep veering off course, locking on to other missiles, or the other guy is always hyper aware and pops flares.

Good luck getting to grind this. I had the F-14A and now Gaijin is requiring you to purchase additional Rank 7 aircraft to unlock anymore rank 8. This now requires me to grind out the attacker tree which from my current position in Rank 4 is 1,340,000 RP and 3,900,000 SL. Absolutely disgusting move by them to move the goalpost like that.
