Very nice video. Thanks for making a one hour video into 8 minutes by pre removing the parts. Nothing worse than watching people unscrew nuts and bolts.
Thanks for the video. I'll be doing this on my 2008 xterra in the next few days. Hope it goes smoothly. No sign of mixing of fluids for me, just broken radiator.
It wasn’t that difficult however It did take about 2 hours. Bought my radiator from eBay local pickup for $67 with lifetime warranty. Thanks this video helped me locate the screws that needed to be removed 👍

2010 X here and need to do this same repair. I have a condenser mounted on front of the radiator. I was told by Nissan service that I would need to unhook the condenser and take it out with the radiator as one unit. Based on your job it does not appear you were required to do this. Does this mean it is possible to do without touching the condenser? I can't tell if you had to deal with it in the video.
I hope you can answer me quickly. I found a 2005 Frontier NISMO on Autotrader. It has 52,246 miles on it and I am definitely interested in it. My question is, before I take the drive to look at it...Will there be any way for me to tell if the mixing issue has already occurred during a test drive or by simply checking the coolant? I'm assuming the worst and thinking the dealership may try to mask or hide this issue somehow to prevent potential buyers from figuring something is wrong, or even go as far as making this issue undetectable to someone like me, who is aware that this problem happens to these trucks. My plan is to buy the truck, but immediately replace the radiator in order to prevent the transmission failure. It would be a horrible thing if I were to buy it and realize that the transmission needs to be replaced when I get home. Right now I'm extremely reluctant to get the truck. Again, it only has 52,246 miles on it and I'm not exactly sure if there is any information on the average mileage that this failure occurs, or if it's simply a crap-shoot.
builtbymachines first you need to see if it still has the original radiator. If it does, take it for a long test drive and then check the trans fluid and antifreeze for any signs of mixing. If the radiator looks like it’s been replaced, then most likely they replaced it to prevent the mixing or the mixing occurred and they replaced the radiator. Just test drive it for a while and pay attention to how the transmission is shifting. Hope that helps.
brian balatbat why would it prevent this from happening in the future? It’s still the same exact design set up to fail somewhere down the road. No trying to be a smart asshole or rude but don’t understand how new radiator changes anything except that its new and not as likely to crack inside and leak for a while.
@@traceykays433 How do you know it's the exact same design? I would bet that it's not. I bet they redesigned the area that failed to correct it. They wouldn't just keep reproducing the same design with the same failure point after a lawsuit.

James P. Jones V if your transmission fluid mixed in the radiator go ahead and replace your radiator. Check your transmission fluid and make sure it’s not contaminated with antifreeze. If it is, drain the trans fluid and refill with new one from the dealer.
