  • The Story of Trails - The Aureole
    The Aureole is one of the 7 sacred Sept Terrions passed down by the sky Goddess Aidios to the ancient Zemurian civilization. As part of this ongoing Trails in the Sky story series, and hopefully a longer Trails games story series, I wanted to give you a Trails Series story recap in regards to the Aureole, and the Liber Ark.
    The Trails in the Sky story is one of the best told in JRPGs in my opinion. Nihon Falcom have woven the Trails in the Sky story together so well, and I felt I had to make a Trails in the Sky Story Series in order to do it justice.
    I hope these videos act as a good Trails series story recap for people who either haven't played the games in a while, or simply enjoy learning more about the continent of Zemuria as we delve ever deeper into the series.
    The Sept Terrions have always been something I have been greatly interested in, and by extension, the Liber Ark as well. I personally don't think the Liber Ark will appear again in the Trails series story, but I'm confident the Aureole will, so learning more about it beforehand seemed like a good idea.
    I hope you enjoy this video!
    A big thank you to the guys at the Kiseki Wiki who do a fantastic job at compiling all this information!
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    PLEASE BE AWARE, THERE ARE SPOILERS FOR ESSENTIALLY THE ENTIRE TRAILS IN THE SKY ARC, SO PLEASE ONLY WATCH THIS WITH THAT KNOWLEDGE IN MIND!

      Thank you for the feedback! I love the lore of the Trails series, and I have a huge amount of fun not only finding out more about it, but sharing it with others who also express interest. I'm hoping my future content will also be up to snuff!:)

    Nice touch including the supplemental "mangas." Great job summarizing everything Aureole-related!

      Thanks a bunch! It's from 'The Tale of Loewe', pretty good additional material to see the Sky Arc from a different perspective, and was very useful for the previous lore video. Also, thanks a bunch for the retweet! I'm relatively new to Twitter, so I don't know how to thank you directly on there, so thought I'd do so here instead.

    Now that CSIV is complete. Can you do a video on the Phantasmal Blade Plan explaining it in detail. With everything that happened across essentially 6 games and all the different phases and things that went wrong, and adjustments, it's easy to get lost. I think that would be a great idea for a video.

      @@TheKisekiNut Well Carnelia is the back story of Toval and the introduction of the head of the Septian church and The black record reveal another great knight that we do not have met yet called : The Palatinate Knight. Let's see what CS3 will tell us for now.

    I love your informative videos, brother. I love this series but don’t have access to the mangas you were referencing sometimes. Your videos have helped me understand and appreciate this great epic story even more. Thank you and can’t wait to learn more from your videos

      I saw this comment on my phone while at work this morning, and it really did make my day. I'm really glad you found it useful my man, and this is ultimately why I love making the videos, getting people more invested and informed on a series that really is filled to the brim with lore. I hope the next 'Story' videos will also be useful to you. :)

      Glad it made your day. Your video taught me more about Loewe and the one you did provided more info and understanding on the Liberl Ark. Can’t wait to see and learn more. I’ve been waiting for a looooooong while for Cold Steel 3 and it’s finally out. Unfortunately I just have it sitting around looking at me everyday lol because I don’t want to start it until I’m done watching the story for the Crossbell games. I can’t play them so I have to check them out on RUclips. I hope we Cold Steel 4 sooner than later.

      @@RomanJr316 I know that feeling mate, my game is also sat on the side, but only because my PS4 is in for repairs (straight after buying it...), but hopefully, it'll be back by Friday and I can get stuck in! We can only hope CS4 will be with us soon, but we'll have to see what Falcom says in the meantime. :)

      Noooooo. Sorry to hear that about your PS4. I’m going to try to live, eat, and breathe Trails of Zero and Azure lol this week so I can start CS3 on Friday when you do.

    I guess the next arc will focus on the remaining three Sept Terrions in Eastern Zemuria.

    • @TheKisekiNut
      @TheKisekiNut  4 года назад +5

      The overarching story pretty much focuses on this grand plan of Ouroboros, and what they intend to do with the Sept Terrions. I imagine though that this is not the full extent of it. I would expect to see some involvement from the Church too, as they've been gathering artifacts for a long time now as well.

    Great video and well explained. I do have a question though and you seem to know a lot about the lore, maybe you know the answer?
    Spoilers (I guess)
    It seems the Aureole was not an easy thing to seal away seeing the things Celeste had to do to seal it (2 separate seals being built in secret), it also seems that the Aureole was capable of protecting itself from that threat.
    What I don't understand is that when the Aureole was back (end of SC) it looked so passive. Apart from the orbal shutdown it just sat there, it even let Weismann merge with it. Wouldn't it once again (or still) be autonomous and "do its own thing"?
    Even after defeating Weissman, the Aurole was taken by Campanella without any issues. This seems like a huge contrast between what Celeste had to do in the past to contain it. It looks like the Aureole is still some sort of dormant at that point? If so, what would wake it as both seals on it were already broken? (I do remember Weismann mentioning something about activating the Aureole when the party encounters him in the end).
    Note that I've only played Trails in the Sky FC and SC, so if this is explained later on please don't spoil :)
    Thanks!

    • @TheKisekiNut
      @TheKisekiNut  3 года назад +2

      The Aureole wasn't something that defended with it's own power so to speak, it had guardians like the Reveries to do that.
      When Campanella took the Aureole from Weissman after his death, it was sealed within Weissman's staff, which itself is forged by Divergent Laws, meaning it exists outside of the confines of the world - they put items like that down to the Goddess. So since the Goddess bestowed the Sept Terrions, it's likely that only items that exist outside of logic can contain it. Obviously that's a guess though and we won't know till the end of the Series for all the answers.

      @@TheKisekiNut Thanks for taking the time to answer!
      That indeed seems like the most logical explanation, I had forgotten about Weismann's staff being 'special'. I also hadn't thought about it not having any guardians after it was back from being sealed.
      I've only recently gotten into this series and I got a long way to go, but the lore is certainly facinating. I love the content you are creating for it, keep up the great work! (even though I'm afraid to watch to many videos right now to prevent getting myself spoiled early ;) ).

    Pretty good overall but is the Aureole's story really complete without showing that it was ultimately delivered into the hands of the grandmaster?

      He mentions it at the end. That before Kevin obtains posession of it Campanella swoops in and retrieves it for the Grandmaster. It was right after mentioning Weissmann's fate.

    Wait, are there gods other than Adios that existed?

    • @Latronibus
      @Latronibus 3 года назад

      I don't think that's confirmed one way or the other. But it's conceivable that the answer is yes, considering the existence of the Divergent Laws and the "Outside".
      This statement isn't including anything from Hajimari/Reverie though honestly I doubt that gets into this very much.
