It’s good to have the height of your benchwork in mind when you start this so you can avoid the discrepancies in the wall measurements by measuring the room at the track height. It’s also good to know about your possible staging yard in the hallway because it could effect your track plan. You could bring the staging tracks out to a loop to join them to the rest of the layout and if you were doing a double level track you could put the helix there. Your aside on the window measurement was good to see because someone may have only measured from that opposite wall. Could you make the transparency of the line heavier to see the lines better? These are great tutorials, really learning alot, thanks again.

Derek, just found your question, sorry. Like I said in my thank you video, how to find the youtube comments still puzzles me. Which line transparency are you talking about? I'll go back and review the video and maybe I can answer that. Dave

At 17:24 you were looking to make the line darker and ended up making the lines wider which changed all of your measurements. I was wondering if you could just make the line itself darker using the transparency button but you may have addressed it saying it was down to nothing. I was thinking you could make it more solid but I think it is an inverse because it said transparency plus or minus so making it lower would be less transparent. I wonder if there is another way to make the lines darker besides making the lines thicker and effecting all the measurements.

i AM FOLLOWING THIS VERY CLOSELY! THANK YOU FOR EDUCATING ME. I PURCHASED THE PROGRAM TO DESIGN MY OWN ROOM, AND I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES, AND YOU ARE CLARIFYING THEM TO A LARGE DEGREE. I AM GOING TO HAVE QUESTIONS OBVIOUSLY. SO HERE IS YOUR FIRST ONE! LOL!!!
I HAVE A LOWER GRADE RESOLUTION PICTURE, THAT PIXELATES WHEN I TRY TO ADD IT TO MY LAYER IN ANYRAIL. IT IS AT 75DPI. HOW CAN I MAKE IT LOOK BETTER,A ND USE IT FOR MY DESIGN??

Hi, with my, shall we say, limited knowledge of graphics programs, I don't think there is a good way to increase the DPI of your image. If this is a track plan, my first thought would be to make a copy of it. Then trace the track lines with a pen or marker and then scan that at a high resolution. I do all of my scanning, for my website and railroad stuff, at 300DPI. If you trace the track lines, you could then put it into a graphics program and erase everything but the track lines. I use 'Flood Fill' on a lot of schematics that I post on my website to remove age marks and stains from the schematic and just leave the connection lines. Because of the contrast between the darker schematic lines and the paper I can usually clean up a drawing rather nicely.
If there is anything that i have talked about in a video that you would like some clarification, please ask me.
      Dave

Taz, I just answered another question and when I was checking what I did I realized that I did increase the resolution of an image. This question was on how to get an image off of the model railroader track plan site. Since the plans are there for subscribers to use, I don't think I will get in trouble describing my method. Here's my other answer...
"Here is what I did. I clicked on "SAVE" down at the bottom where it says 'Problems opening this file? SAVE to your computer instead.' This will save4 it as a PDF. I then opened the PDF in my image software, in my case, Paint Shop Pro 2020 Ultimate, while making sure that I told the program to change the DPI from 72 to 300. I then cropped the image and saved it as a JPG. Then made a surface of the right size in AnyRail and imported the picture. Any interest out the on a video on how to do this? "
Sorry I forgot I did it that way. I made that image from a PDF about two years ago.

@@steampoweredradio2981 Hello, Dave!! I figured it out. I did it in Photoshop, and took it up to a decent level that has allowed me to view things better. Thank you, and continue with these tutorials, as I am in dire need of instruction on them. I would, however, like to send you a Anyrail file, and get your opinion of the layout and what more I can do to make it work out. I tried making it the measurements of the room, but, it DID take some of the curves out of whack. I am thinking I may be able to overcome this, and I would really appreciate you taking a look at it, and giving e your honest opinion....
Thank you, and keep up the great work for us!!!

@@tazcurrier2193 Hi Taz, I don't really want to get into doing individual help, I think you can understand. If you try a stretch an image too far, you will end mess up the curves. In my video on adding the image, I mention cutting the image up into sections and the n adding your own connecting bits in-between. You mention you have photoshop so that should be easy. Tell me the size of your room and what size your original track plan is and what the final size is that you are looking for. I'll play around with similar sizes and it might make a good video to help others.

      @@steampoweredradio2981 Hello, Dave....
I really wasn't asking for a true individual help, just wanted to know how best to address this situation. Since then, I decided, that this design isn't going to fit the way I hoped it would in the room size I have. My room is a small bedroom, 15 feet by 10 feet. I will have to create my own layout, without any reference, and just design something that will work.
Thanks for the learning experiences, I hope you have more to come. I need to know how to set up my lower staging level, and then match it to the upper level, main line, using layers. I also need to figure out a lift out bridge, that has a lower level, and an upper level set of 2 track mainline. I am sure I will eventually figure it out.
Thanks for learning experience, and I look forward to more videos!!
      Blessings....
