Yes, quite agree. Vauxhall, or any other British car company, have never surpassed this Cresta PA for elegant beauty in this type of car, the cruiser. The F type was a good one aswell. The 101 Victor, also a classic, but this Cresta ..... WOW! The best of all the British attempts at an American car. The early 60s Humber Sceptre also a very good attempt.
Always liked PA's from when they were plentiful in late 60s early 70s. One of my fond memories was walking out of the local cinema having watched American Graffiti and seeing a black PA parked in all its glory. It felt like an extension of the film. Sadly, never come close to owning one so my respect goes out to anyone who does.
My dad had the same Velox in 1964 it was exactly the same as this one but in cherry red and an ivory roof. I was 12 years old and this car made a life time impression.
By far and away the best PA I have seen for 40 years or more.Beautifully restored, and by the looks beautifully maintained. The video and sound are great also.Well done.
What a joy to see such a beautiful example of a three window PA. She must have been one of the last as they are usually 1958 models. I must congratulate you on a truely professional video. The music is perfect and the setting...well...excellent. Although I am a lover of the F Victor which was made at Luton on the same line and at the same time as the PA, I would certainly love to own her. Thanks for posting such a lovely video
I owned a 1957 PA Vauxhall Cresta when I was 18, it was the same colour as the one in this video, and I loved it. But had an accident in it and had to get rid of it. I bought another 1962 Version with the revised grill and one piece back window, and kept that until I bought a 1965 3-3 PB Cresta a few Years later, and later I PXd that for a 3.3 FD Vauxhall Ventora. They were all great cars, and a pleasure to drive. I wish I still had them, :(
Immaculate car. I remember these were a popular mode of transport for North Wales Police. Having driven one or two of the later ones in the 60s (not Police) I recall they were quiet and comfortable. Direct competition for the big Fords of the day. - Superb video.
There is one sentence you said that struck me right where it hurts. "that's why I never settled down...the love of cars" I know that love affair only too well. My garage brims over with Standard Vanguards, a hi line Zephyr Farnham, an A105 Westminster, a Rover 2000, a Morris Oxford and 20 feet of 1954 Packard. On the drive is a Lea Francis 14. What more can I say? I too have never settled down and sometimes I regret that. Superb Velox. Nick
Great video of this velox , the three window PA looks CLass, Gorgeous styling.I remember in 1970 s a workmate apprentice had a cresta he loved to trash it ...wheel spins handbrake turns...etc..bcoz it was a cheap banger then .Best wishes + Thanks for video.🌟
Just stunning I think the 3 window Pa with the wider chrome side strip is the best of the pa pay pax series I had a 1960 pay very nice but not as nice as this pa
Good quality video. I had a 2 of these, a maroon one and a two tone yellow one, both 61 models. My mate had a 59 three window like this that had been customer.ised, metalflake blue, Wolfrace wheels and slightly jacked, at the time it looked good but now I think what a travesty!
Had a couple of these in my Teddy Boy Days, i was and still am a Ford man though, these 3 window early flat grille models with the Lollipop rear tail lights and trafficators on end of the fins are the most sought after models of the PA series and this is the best colour combination in my opinion, the 3 bar back window was copied from the 1957 Buick, as Vauxhall were part of General Motors, these were nice looking just a shame that they had a reputation for the worst rusting cars, they rusted in the showrooms
my dads PA CRESTA ROYAL GLOW AND IVORY , (PINK and WHITE )front and sides pink ,1959 had it 13yr i leant to drive in it before giving it to a friend to. no one in our family banged a knee getting in or out ,
Good morning! You know the 1948 Vauxhall 12? Could Road be the name of the model? I'm just looking for information on this car. Do you have information or do you know who may have it? Greetings!!!
Hope it doent rain, there would only be front and rear bench seats, four tyres and rubber hoses left in an hour, they rusted in the showrroms, had two now, never again get a MK2 Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac, infact anything that has not got a Vauxhall badge on it
Without doubt, the Cresta and Velox PA's rank as the most aesthetically pleasing design ever produced by Vauxhall motors.
I'd vote for both the FD and FE Victor/Ventora. In particular, the FE shape was unique and very fine altogether.

Always wanted one of these when I was young but in those days could nowhere near afford it.

2.3cc engine? No wonder you drive around with 4 passengers - they probably have to get out push :D
that must have been horribly underpowered.
