This brings me back to when my wife and I got married in Nonthabury almost ten years ago. Nearly 300 "strangers" were there to help us celebrate (along with just one other farang!). It was truly one of many "National Geographic moments" I've been involved in, since discovering the Kingdom. Lucky for us - my wife's mother returned half of the sinsod! Thanks again, Serg - for another awesome video!

Oh, yes! Both of them had completely passed out between the ceremony, and then the evening session. I think at the end of the night, they probably just fell asleep.

Hi Michael! It was my pleasure to stop and chat with you for a moment. My 30 minute walk home turned into a 19 km, five hour walk. Lol. If you ever see me around again, do not hesitate to stop and say hello.
First - love your bearded look, Serg. I've been to several Thai weddings (by my age) and I've been to weddings in Uthai Thani. This rather quiet town doesn't have many choices of wedding function facilities in hotels and having a wedding ceremony at home with community kitchens is popular and very warm and funfilled. Thanks for sharing the moment. BTW do you understand the trick (naughty humor) when they play with mortar and pestle?
Thanks for opening my eyes, Serg! To be honest, I never saw any thing luxurious at the same time rustic as such before 😁 The amount of food for the celebration is ridiculous! OMG USD $38k dowry! I'm afraid the bride's family will have to help the groom pay for the food like 1/3 of it Haha.
These are a local, countryside style of marriage. I had gone to my cousin wedding and it kinda like this too, but not this extravagance. Normally they tend to do very simple in countryside lower class, very big in countryside middle class, simple and small in Bangkok middle class because no one got time to do it that big, or go super extra if you are in Bangkok and got shit load of money. 10:09 about the money, yes, in the past they really give all of it to the bride side, because of "woman do housework and taking care of child" smth like that. But now it is kind of show off to the people in the wedding that the groom can taking care of the bride. Sometime if you are not wealth as fuck and really want to show off, you just borrow some gold and money from someone to place there for the photo. But if you didn't care that much, you can use your real money, show it off nicely, give them all to the bride family. Then usually they will give the new couple all the money to start a new live because now woman didn't just stay at home and do all the housework anymore. 11:18 Ring exchange is normal too, everyone does that, even back then 30-40 years ago afaik. Thai just mixing it all and come up with this, Buddhism thing+local ghost thing+Chinese style dinner, western style ring exchange/flower throwing/couple clothes, anything that you think it's nice.

I have never seen such a big Thai wedding like this one before. They must be so rich to organize a wedding like this one! The couple are so fabulous.
I’ve never been to a Thai wedding, so I did not know what to expect. Even by Western standards, this was a very large wedding.
In fact, there is a much bigger wedding than this. In the middle class at Mueang Luang Thai people attach great importance to ceremonies.
