Robert C. Hupp was one of many creative young men found throughout the fledgling auto industry. Growing up in Detroit, Hupp worked at the Olds Motor Works and Ford Motor Company. Hupp believed that he could produce a quality small car at a low price. He found success with the 1909 Model 20 Runabout for $750.

MORE MILEAGE 1912 saw a significant change with the steel-bodied Model 32, a larger and more substantial car. Two-seaters rode on a 102 in. wheelbase with four-seaters sporting 126 inches. Long distance trips were a common way to prove the strength of early cars. Few went as far as Hupmobile who sent a Model 20 touring car around the world! From 1910 to 1912, the little car covered 49,000 miles by land and another 28,000 by ship. The car still exists today.
Hupmobile also has an unusual legacy: in 1914, a Hupmobile dealer in Minnesota gave rides to a nearby town during test drives. It was so popular he started the company that became the Greyhound bus system.
Nice job guys! Very interesting.
