The reason Snape gave himself the nickname “half blood prince” is because he’s a half blood, his moms a witch and his dads a muggle and Prince is his mothers maiden name

I do feel bad for Draco in this movie- he was tasked by Voldemort himself to kill Dumbledore. It was a punishment for his father (since Lucius Malfoy failed to retrieve the prophecy and ended up being caught and sent to Azkaban), so if Draco were to fail he and his family would be killed- and Voldemort had no expectations that he would succeed. At first Draco was almost proud of being chosen, but slowly the realisation of his situation set in. Snape making the Unbreakable Vow created a sort of loophole out of that awful situation

She's been crushing on him since book 2 and when she starts playing the field in book 6 to get his attention, it works. Not exactly complex and kinda forced.

When Rowling wrote his “beast” inside getting jealous being his first reaction of interest in her it was uncomfortable to read tbh and the book never even showed he had interest in her before that “beast” came out so to me I’ll always feel it was force fed to me to accept (although I never accepted it)
I recommend watching the next two movies back to back. I’m sure that you realize that Draco is Bellatrix’s nephew. But Tonks is his cousin. She is the daughter of Bellatrix’s other sister.
And Sirius black is Bellatrix cousin.

Yes the weasleys own a shop that harry gave them the money to open from the goblet of fire tournament in which the winner got 10,000 galleons which harry didn’t want so he gave it to the twins
I think that Harry offered the money first to Amos Diggory. But he turned it down.
They don't ever explain it, but Snape is a halfblood. The magic is on his mother's side, her maiden name was Prince... so Tom riddle rearranged his name to be Voldemort to hide his muggle half, Snape just used his mother's maiden name

Tonks and Lupin are at least 10 years apart or smthn but in the books they understood eachother and at lupin kept saying she would want someone younger but she only liked Lupin.
Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was a year-old toddler, Cedric at the hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying by falling into the Veil in the Ministry of Magic. Also, for some convoluded reason, they ommited an explanation of what a bezoar is in the movies: Bezoars are stones taken from the stomachs of goats that are used to cure most poisons. And I definitely felt like Hermione when Lavender was cuddled up to Ron. (When she said "Excuse me, I have to go and vomit.")
Good info! Quick side note: Bezoars are explained in the extended edition of the first movie, which Jay watched.

The Lupin-Tonks Love story is explained in the books, but their age difference does become a bit of an issue.

A lot of this book is going to make you nuts about the believing Harry thing.
Didn't think we would be getting this so soon! Love your HP reactions girl. This movie was slow compared to the others and they left a lot out from the book but its kinda the calm before the storm. Cant wait for the next two! 💜

When I say I'm so excited for this reaction.😂 I've recently decided to read the Harry Potter books and now all my favs are doing reactions to the movies so we love that.
This movie also left out that the final scene dumbledore didn’t just die there was a big battle where ron oldest brother got bit by the werewolf that bit lupin as a child so hes part werewolf now
Yeah that was my biggest shock in this movie series that they left out one of my favorite climaxes of the books lol. I guess because they had the big battle and so much action in the last movie. But i don't remember seeing any of the professors go as ham there in the movie as they did in this book. It was very satisfying to see McGonnegal and even Hagrid use strength they almost always kept hidden. XD
This movie left out voldemort whole backstory that was explained in the memorie collection dumbledore showed Harry. Voldemort’s family was down to his mother her brother and father. She was believed to be a squib cus she could barely do magic but it was cuz her brother and father mentally and verbally abused her. One day she was in they yard and she saw a muggle she immediately fell in love with his name was tom riddle sr but he was rich and had a gf. The brother saw her and laughed at her calling her ugly and saying it’d never happen then he jinxed him as a joke. They’re father seeing this got mad at the son and fixed Tom riddle sr and removed the memory but the ministry came anyway. When the guy came the father was arrogant flaunting they were the last descendants of slytherin and the gaunts 2 of the sacred pure blood families showing off the locket and the ring in the movie. He cursed the ministry man and he ran away. Later the ministry sent alot more ppl and captured the brother and father and sent them to azkaban. Finally being free her magic flourished and she set a plan to give Tom riddle a love potion to get his love which she succeeded in. They were married for yrs until she felt bad for basically drugging him so she stopped to see if he’d love her which he didn’t so he left while she was pregnant. This destroyed her and she died after giving birth giving voldemort him fathers first name and her fathers name Tom Marvolo Riddle
I don't think knowing that Voldy is born of magical potion r@pe adds much to his character...
Though it does kind of show what trash the Twins are for selling love potions 😬

@@LordVolkov Yes, supposedly some magical element about love potions, but for me more importantly his specific lineage of entitled and powerful but disturbed wizards. That he was born of a kind of desire, but not love. That he got his father's good looks and possibly charisma, but we don't know what else. That he was aware of some of this, regardless of whet he said or how deeply buried it was.
People don't agree with me on this, but i think most people are complex, even if not morally complicated. Like someone can be badly intended and frankly evil, but still complex. It doesn't mean they're secretly good or anything.

yes harry is a half blood for the one drop rule as his mom was muggleborn voldemort and snape had muggle fathers and witch mothers

snape the mauraders and lily were all the same age 20 when harry was bornnone lived to see 40 as the ones dead in the final book were 37 harry's parents were 21 tonk's is the same age as ron's brother charlie he graduated the year before ron started so when we met tonks she was like 22 so she's LEGAL but lupin thought it was wrong and said no but after some pursuit he submits to her advances the married between books and she announce her pregnancy at the 7 potters scene and she died with lupin at the battle at hogwarts their son teddy was raised by his maternal grandma and named for his maternal grandpa

Maybe book scholars can correct me, but the concept of aurors is introduced in 4, with Moody, who spends the whole book using unforgivable curses on Harry for 'training'... Book 5, Harry meets a few more (Real Moody, Tonks, Shacklebolt), but never expresses any hopes of becoming one...
So Minerva's line kinda comes out of nowhere and completely ruins a wonderful arc that Harry could have had.
in the books harry’s want to become an auror is mentioned a bit more than the movies do

Harry becoming an Auror wouldn't dash any hopes of him becoming a teacher. It's the kind of high intensity high stress job you can only do as a young man. By his late 30s he would be looking to retire from the Auror Corps and find a new job. Being an Auror would just make him more experienced and qualified for the Defense professorship. Most people have multiple jobs/professions throughout their lives. Harry could even spend his late teens/early 20s playing pro quidditch before he becomes an Auror.
I cant remember if i didnt like the idea of him becoming a professor or an auror. Probably whichever one he settled on lol.
