I don’t get why people hate this movie, it’s literally the most impressive take on aliens, and the cinematography is insane!!!
THIS!
I’ve had a fear of aliens since that unsolved mysteries episode back in the 90’s but can I tell you how much I appreciate Jordan peele for making a movie that while yes made me shit my pants also made me scream out loud in joy with Kiki at the end of this movie
Do you mean people that hate it or the ones that just didn't like it? As for the cinematography, Hoyte van Hoytema is a freaking genius at his craft. I thought it was an okay movie. I didn't hate it, but it's not going on my all time favorite list either.
who hates this movie lmao? i’ve only heard good things
@@rengokusfox Why is everything love or hate? What happened to like or dislike? Why do some people that like a certain thing think that everyone else should like it too? Just because they do? Personally I couldn't care less who loves or hates it. It's alright for what it is. I don't hate it, but I definitely don't love it.
the scene where everyone gets sucked up was pretty disturbing considering the fact some of them were kids who were with their parents so they all died in a state of complete terror. And then the process of being digested alive would probably be a slow one, so everyone gets to watch each other melt in the stomach of an alien :( truly unsettling.
yep. all of this. the hair on my arms were sticking up…
I didn't understand the people & families were dying until all the blood was released.... I heard them screaming while being sucked in but I assumed it was from fear. The way the alien was designed made its innards look like people were sliding in on some soft sheets lol. It didn't look painful to me, just terrifying.
I thought the people would stay alive & just go to some holding chamber like the aliens in the War of the Worlds (2010). I was wrong lol.
@@ambriaashley3383 for me it was triggering my claustrophobia cause it looked like they were being squished through a slimy plastic hose or like an uniflated bouncey castle. All very terrifying.
@@ambriaashley3383 But Do you know what the soft whistling and popping noises were?
@@tylernaze8020 The aliens digestive system lol!
I don't understand how people can watch the abduction scene, the rain scene, and the Gordy scenes and then say this movie isn't a horror film. It's like when people say Jaws or Alien aren't horror movies either. Horror has sub-genres, not all horror movies have to have a slasher killer or ghosts. The idea of something enormous, yet elusive that can just eat people is kinda terrifying. Biblical accurate angels are scary.
Also a lot of horror that is more nuanced than just a big violent cat and mouse chase isn’t as respected as just a gore fest, horror comes in so many forms of psychological, terror, gore and every genre needs a sub genre to be impactful imo because putting a sense of comedy in a horror movie before shit hits the fan takes the audience off guard when it gets real. It rules a false sense of security that makes the horror and eerieness all the more
Impactful.
In the digestion scene, one man yells “IT BURNS!” Which he was being melted, along with every other person along with loss of air and bone crushing, there was also melting to make the alien able to eat it.
scariest part of the film for me was the SOUNDS that that thing made, terrifying. in the cinema they were so loud and awful it was so great
i can’t imagine the sound in the theatre 🫣 headphones were enough for me …
I just watched it with my AirPods on full blast how you were able to hear the screams of people while it’s still flying around gave me chills I enjoyed this movie had hella people ina comment tell me they rate this higher than love and thunder I was not disappointed
@@jaymeetsworld1 Saw it twice in the theater and it’s very intense.
I think i’m gonna do it ….
@@jaymeetsworld1 If you're gonna see it in the cinema then I highly recommend IMAX.
I love how the marketing of this movie revealed nothing about the Gordy subplot, it makes it all the more shocking to watch it unfold because you truly have no idea where it’s going…
I completely agree!
Theres actually a bit of reference to it. Theres a "Jupiter's Claim"website, with one of the reviews mentioning Jupes childhood and one of the people saying "it made me sad".
The website itself is worth a look. The day and night cycle is neat. The day symbol is the sun, but at night, it's a cloud with the familiar banner hanging from it...and it changes depending on the day or night and gives hints to Jean Jacket.
This is one of the greatest takes on aliens I've ever seen. I was very VERY saddened when the third of Peele's horror films was revealed to be about alien abduction. It just wasn't what I was expecting after such great social commentary films as "US"and "Get Out".
Turned out it was the best of the three(IMO). Horrifying and brilliant concept on Jean Jacket.
the sad part of mary jo is that she didn't have the unluckiest life. yes what happened to her was horrible (the maiming, the trauma, the exploitation) but it seems like, unlike jupe, she moved on? i mean, look at her. she's dressed in nice clothes, she decorated it her wheelchair, she came to greet her childhood friend with a smile on her face. she could have had a good, full life. but because jupe couldn't move on... because jupe didn't learn his lesson from gordy... because jupe never processed his trauma without the lense of media sensation...
Also becoz of a coincidence of the standing shoe he thought he believed in miracles and he thought he was the chosen one
This movie was unexpected tbh, I'm surprised that the UFO didn't have aliens inside, the whole time it was An actual living ufo, by far this movie was incredible
Yeah That's literally how the movie was marketed, but of course Jordan Peele always has something else up his sleeve when you watch his movies.
Ugh a fun ride! Reminded me a lot of “Jaws” and it’s only a short scene in the barn with OJ but Jordan reminds us if he really wanted to make a traditional alien flick, he knows how to make it absolutely chilling and terrifying suspenseful in horror. Great reaction!
THE BARN SCENE WAS TERRIFYING! If he wanted to make us break down he def could!
For real though. I still get chills watching other people watch that scene. That's how good it is (and how good this point is too!)
Emerald has such good outfits because they were designed by True Jackson. This movie is just part of the Keke Palmer cinematic universe
I always knew a True Jackson liked the girlies 🫣
the scene during clover in the barn with the “beings” took ME TF out in the theater.
you’re better than me .. I would have put up the church finger and made my exit ..
Steven yeun basically thought he was the main character after the Gordy situation and tried to “conquer” his trauma by trivializing and capitalizing on it. Didn’t work with Jean jacket though 🥴
The massive balloon was filled with Helium to make it float up, the creature burst the balloon inside its ,..throat /stomach putting a crazy amount of helium gas inside its stomache mixed with whatever acidic gases it’s stomache contained and poof. 🙂
I seriously needed a true explanation on how that balloon was actually able to kill the creature. I knew the helium had a hand but wasn't sure how. So thank you for this explanation.
I love watching you react to this even when you knew nothing about it because I think a lot of the people that dislike this movie say that it's impossible to understand if you didn't have a primer for all of the themes, so it's really cool that we got to watch you in real time putting the pieces together and prove that it can be done!
the movie was def enjoyable without knowing anything before going in! Sure I'm still confused about some stuff but not enough to say the movie was horrible. people just like to find things to complain about! thank you for watching!
lmao when you called her being gay IMMEDIATELY i lost it. This movie was so good and for me its on par with get out. I love a good alien movie and this was such a fun and interesting take on UFOs.
I’m not usually an alien movie person but this GOT ME. I loved it!
I think my favourite part of this movie is the fact that it's a western too! Great reaction x
I saw a video recently that compared this alien to the flying polyp: a monster from the work of HP Lovecraft. They fly (obviously) control air currents to suck up food, and they are hostile towards anything that looks at them, just like Jean Jacket here.
Some of Keith David's best movies are the ones where he's not evil:
"The Thing" (1982)
"They Live" (1988)
"Cloud Atlas" (2012)
"Dead Presidents" (1997) [he's bad, not evil]
And the animated voice of "Spawn" (can't remember off the top of my head the length of it] (yeah, he came back from hell, but, not evil)
he also does the voice of the cat in coraline! :)
Not a movie, but I think we can all agree that Goliath in Gargoyles was a seminal role
And he’s the Arbiter from Halo and Doctor Facilier from Princess and the Frog!
this is late as hell but he's also not a villain in Greenleaf, does his character have some flaws? sure but who doesn't on that show
i've been eating up all these nope reactions and i gotta say yours has been my favourite! such a good and fun ride, i loved the editing and ngl you had me laughing all the damn time my face hurts 🤣 bless you and thanks for giving me a good af evening watch!!
ahhhh thank you so much for watching!!! 💕 this was probably the most fun i’ve had watching a movie in a little while!
I get it...it's a pun. :P
i remember thinking in the theatre how much the alien resembled biblical seraphims and not being scared but finding it so stunning 🤩
the beginning of this movie, as well as the gordy scenes remind me so much of 2001:a space odyssey and both movies give me the creeps on a primal level. there’s a lot of references to anime/Spielberg in this film that went over my head more than his previous two films since i’m p unfamiliar with that so i still prefer Get Out and Us, at least right now, but it’s just so amazing to see how different each story is from one to the next, i feel so grateful to exist at the same time as jordan peele.
it’s something about the space around the alien that makes it so uncomfortable to me it’s hard to explain lol! jordan peele’s mind is incredible and I can’t wait to see what he does next!
girl the scene when they are inside the stomach of the alien made me so uncomfortable!!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭
I WANTED TO CRAWL UNDER MY DESK
Emerald Haywood definitely belongs in the final girl hall of fame

Looove !!! The alien at the end always reminds me of a biblically accurate angel. Peele is a GENIUS

i hate aliens/ alien theories/ the damn posters for this movie.
but you had me watch this bc you did... and i was FLOORED!!!!

The That's so Raven part took me out😂😭
"oh she's gay look at the way she's sitting" MOOD. anyways this movie made me feel dumb like there was something that was supposed to click for me and never did ooop
see what clicked for me was keke palmer 😵💫
@@jaymeetsworld1 ok felt that
24:51 the alien was out here CROP DUSTING 🤣
ahhh i'm so happy to see this movie getting the love it deserves! saw it twice in theatres, jordan peele really is amazing when it comes to executing an idea, love it! 11/10! this is tied for movie of the year with EEAAO for me!
i’m tempted to go find it in theatre’s still! his directing style is top tier
I think this movie and Everything Everywhere All At Once are both going to be nominated as Best Picture this year, and I don’t know which I want to win
that sight of blood flowing down the windows? now that's scary
I've seen this three times in theaters and always the same feeling. The second time was my favorite since I spotted everything and noticed every clue leading to the monster. Like the opening sequence. My favorite song from Keke, the queen, is foot working. Love that song!!
I've watched it twice now and the second time for sure was better than the first!
@@jaymeetsworld1 literally. That's why I see a movie the second time to understand the movie better. The first time I see a movie is because of hype. The second time is usually because I want to understand the story
In case you didn’t get it, at 26:28, that was an Akira reference with the bike slide.
idk how I didn’t get that!!!!!
I think NOPE is Jordan Peele's second best movie. Get Out is still my favorite for its social commentary and arc towards the end, but this is really close.
Also cinematography, sound and even monster design in NOPE are insane and so are the performances by the actors.
one thing that is so simple but scares me so much is the opening. the gordy scene happening in the back while you see the production companies that worked on this/funded it was so eery to me. the gordy scenes got to me so much! the “aliens” in the barn were like a oh shit moment and kinda had me freaked out. but everything after those 2 things was a smooth ride which i loved.
"I dont think he recovered from that" you are in fact correct!
THE EDITING HAS ME CRYING LMAO GIRL IM WEAKKKKK
😹😹😹 I laughed so loud at the beginning of your video “what’s that?! Girl that’s a Booty hole!”
I loved your reaction to this, I had pretty much the same thoughts while watching it lol. I love the fact that Jordan Peele is gonna release a full on in-universe scientific paper about the alien written by the characters, he put in so much effort into designing it and it SHOWS.
Did you watch this through streaming or did you have to buy it?
She did sound like the mom from Friday 😂
I didn't realise that the Gordy scene was real!
I GOTTA PUT ME FIRST!! 🤣🤣🤣
This was a great movie. I took the ended a different way, but that's what makes it so good. 💯💯
Idk why but I thought the alien was so pretty lols it reminded me of a parachute 🪂
YOU DID NOT, WITH THE INTRO- 💀
I did 🫣
lmao the entire movie i was sayin ‘nope’ lmao🤣🤣
you have to! lol
I rewatch this movie every few months JUST for Keke lmao
Yo I have watch 5 of your videos today high as hell and ya commentary is hilarious I just love you ❤️😂🫶🏾

You're my fave Nope reaction😂wish u would have saw it in imax. U feel like the sky is right above u, the sounds, etc.
Sn: not your gaydar being on point
thank you 💕 oh god I would have passed out seeing this in imax 😵💫
16:37 I needed to get out of the place when I saw this and I started crying NJ
i glad you liked nope, and ur editing is killer as always! its even better on rewatch imo, jordan peele put in sooo many small details. like if you pay close attention to when em asked jupe what happened during the gordy's home incident, he never actually answers her question. he's unable to fully process the trauma, so he just describes the snl skit instead
thank you!! i’ve watched it twice already and you’re so right there’s so many things to pick up on!
i am in love with your room
this is one of my top movies like i wanna talk to everyone about how good it is
Saw this movie in the theatre back then ! It was the first time I absolutely wanted to exit the room while watching the abduction/Gordy scenes.
Completely paralyzed me fr !!
(btw, I still don't have any explications for the levitating shoe. If somebody knows, I would happpily love to read it :) )
I had high expectations for this movie and it wasn’t fully met but I came out happy watching this movie. I was hoping for more horror cause this imo felt like a sci-fi thriller. Obviously it’s well directed, great casting, beautiful shots, and a unique take in the alien genre cause the reveal of the actual ship being the alien was a shock to me. My only problems with the film other than the lack of horror, the movie drags a bit and imo I was more scared of the monkey than the alien which I think is a misstep. Overall I think Jordan Peele did another great job. Also another thing people compared this movie to jaws but if it were in the sky and I totally agree I can’t look at the sky the same after this movie especially the clouds.
lmaoo I was also scared ashel off the monkey
I think the fact that an animal from here than any alien appears says more to what it's saying about the exploitation of them. People are obsessed with the possibility of finding aliens, yet, not knowing how to handle animals from here.
That exact scene in that’s so raven is what I was thinking about when I realized what that scene was
I'm so glad our minds went to the same place!
the way this is actually the best movie this year because every time i rewatch it, it gets better and better
i’ve seen it twice now and it’s ridiculously well shot and directed .. and of course the acting is top tier
That chimp attack scene was actually based off a real life event where a woman owned a pet chimpanzee named Travis and it attacked her friend and mangled her face so badly that her eyes ears nose and parts of her face were literally ripped off, miraculously she survived and the chimp was luckily shot by the police after the attack
Nope movie of the yearrr yea you get it
Why was this reaction so funny. I saw this in theaters and the surround sound was insane. I’m so happy you watched it, I loved this movie.
I love you so much for throwing Tru Jackson!Damn I still love that theme song!
Feels good to see other people enjoy this as much as I did! Peele is 3/3 for me.
28:01 😂😂😂
Best alien movie since Arrival! Great reaction!
Wanna see your reaction on watching Outlander (2008). It's my favourite alien movie.
LOVE THIS REACTION!! and that scene were the Alien sucked up everyone and like it showed them being digested and like their screams were just so bad especially in theaters and also what app or website did you watch this on?
thank you so much!!! It's available on amazon prime or google flixtor 😂
I wonder what phobia that monster triggers because I felt uncomfy during those scenes too
i’m so glad i’m not alone 🫣
Ikr
Megalophobia probably. It’s the discomfort you feel when looking at something gigantic up close.
There’s also Casadastraphobia, the extreme fear of falling into the sky
No one seems to be talking about how OJ may actually be dead. He never says anything, the horse and him don't even move, it says "out yonder", and the name of the track on the soundtrack for the scene where he is staring at it is titled "a hero falls". I know we all want a happy ending, but I don't think he survived.
oooohhhhh that's def a theory!
this is definitely peele’s best movie. ive seen it 3 times now and every single time i watch it it gets better, i highly recommend watching it again
i’ve watched it twice already and I agree!!
I love your bedroom lights 💙

@@jaymeetsworld1 I heard so many bad things about this movie talking bout, " It wasn't a horror movie" or " This was so over hyped." One of my friends legit walked out the theater when they saw it. For shame
@@krillin7781 me personally I don’t think it was a horror movie more like a sci-fi thriller. Cause the first trailer made it look to be a full blown horror movie but I wasn’t scared well the monkey freaked me out cause ik that attack was inspired by a true event where a woman had a monkey as a pet and it left her disfigured. I didn’t hate the movie I liked it not loved but I liked it and can watch it again for it’s unique take on the alien genre.
I hated this movie so much I’m sorry 😂

it would be nice to think oj and lucky are alive, but neither of them move and they're blurry. it's also a throwback to the black jockey in the beginning. even if she got the shot, a good possibility is that she won't receive the credit or the $$$

Great great film

#Notokay is really good recommend
It’s not that I didn’t like the movie but I just felt like there was a lot missing.. and a lot of pointlessness added lol. I also was expecting it to be a really great movie with how amazing get out and us was.
Let me guess the “pointlessness” are just things for which you don’t understand how they relate to the core story/message.
👍👍
Imagine pausing a movie
Did you know the reason that the alien turned into that final form was because it wanted to mate with OJ...
i hate it here....
girl stop lol it was an intimidation tactic. predator animals do it in real life
where exactly did you get that from? LOL

Umm..less is the exact opposite of more. More of anything is more...while less of anything is ...well less. If less is more than more is also less.
@@nightfall902 it’s a paradox. IE. Brevity in communication is more effective than verbosity.
@@justthej I understand the paradox. It would depend on what you needed to convey and how accurately. I think I get annoyed with this particular paradox for it's over use, fashion, cooking, architecture....etc.. If brevity were the point it could be lightened by removing those three words from the conversation.
@@nightfall902 it boils down to editing. Cuts are nice, at the same time when it’s overdone it gets annoying. Similarly when one learns a new trick in an editing program.. they over use it.
@@justthej I totally agree. In this case I think Peele could have helped himself by getting advise from an experienced editor. He had the good sense to get Hoyte van Hoytema for the iMax camera work and Michael Abels to do the scoring. Although I liked Peele's earlier work, I feel he's on a downhill slide. Western/comedy/thriller/horror/scify.... The inclusion of so many little things, while losing focus of the actual plot. I didn't hate the film....but it seems the things that were not specifically Peele were the best parts.
